The 1st White Cloth Hall is a Grade II* listed building on Kirkgate, in the city centre of Leeds in West Yorkshire, England.

The 3rd White Cloth Hall is an important historic building in Leeds city centre in England. Between its construction in 1775–6 and partial destruction in 1865, the hall was one of the most important market places in Northern England for the sale of undyed cloth.

Kirkgate Market (pronounced ) is a market complex on Vicar Lane in the city centre of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is the largest covered market in Europe and a Grade I listed building. There are currently 800 stalls which attract over 100,000 visitors a week.

The New Penny is a gay pub in The Calls area of Leeds, West Yorkshire. It is reported to be the oldest continually running gay pub in the UK.

Leeds Civic Trust is a voluntary organisation and registered charity established in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England in 1965. Affiliated to the national charity Civic Voice, its stated purpose is "to stimulate public interest in and care for the beauty, history, and character of the city and locality, to encourage high standards of design, architecture and town planning; [and] to encourage the development and improvement of features of general public amenity".The Trust is independent, funded by public membership, grants, and donations. In addition to its campaigning and educational roles, the Trust comments on planning applications and takes part in planning policy consultations. Other activities include operation of an extensive blue plaque scheme across the city, and the annual organisation of Heritage Open Days at local sites. It is based at 17–19 Wharf Street, a mid-Victorian shop premises in The Calls area of the city centre, now serving as its office and bookshop.

42 The Calls Hotel is a Grade II listed 4-star boutique hotel with 41 rooms. The hotel is located on The Calls in Leeds opposite Leeds Parish Church and near to Leeds Corn Exchange. A former corn mill, the 18th century Fletland Mill was bought by hotelier Jonathan Wix in 1991 and renovated at a cost of £19.5 million.In February 2018 the hotel entered liquidation, and RSM Restructuring Advisory LLP were appointed as liquidators of the company following a court order issued on January 17, 2018, and a petition by HMRC. The hotel was acquired by local investor Simon Pollard in April 2018. The hotel is planned to undergo refurbishment in Autumn 2019, but will remain open for bookings for the foreseeable future.

Briggate is a pedestrianised principal shopping street in Leeds city centre, England. Historically it was the main street, leading north from Leeds Bridge, and housed markets, merchant's houses and other business premises. It contains many historic buildings, including the oldest in the city, and others from the 19th and early-20th century, including two theatres. It is noted for the yards between some older buildings with alleyways giving access and Victorian shopping arcades, which were restored in late 20th century. The street was pedestrianised in the late-20th century.

The battle of Leeds took place during the First English Civil War on 23 January 1643, when a Parliamentarian force attacked the Royalist garrison of Leeds, Yorkshire. The attack was partly dictated by the need to maintain local support for the Parliamentarian cause; the Earl of Newcastle had recently shifted the balance of power in Yorkshire in the Royalists' favour with the addition of his 8,000-strong army, and sent one of his commanders, Sir William Savile to capture Leeds. The West Riding of Yorkshire relied on the cloth trade, and Ferdinando, Lord Fairfax sent his son, Sir Thomas Fairfax to bolster the defences of nearby Bradford, before agreeing to his request to attack Leeds. Savile, who had command of around 2,000 men in Leeds, built a trench on the western edge of Leeds, destroyed one bridge on the approach to the town and heavily fortified another. Fairfax attacked during a heavy snowstorm, bringing an army of roughly 3,000 men to attack Leeds in three places. The battle lasted around two hours before the Parliamentarians secured the town, and captured about 500 prisoners. Fairfax lost around 20 men during the attack, while the Royalists suffered roughly double as many fatalities.

The Leeds Freedom Bridge is a railway bridge (HUL4/53) that crosses over the area known as gayleeds on Lower Briggate in Leeds, West Yorkshire. This area is also where an annual LBGT parade Leeds Pride finishes, the bridge is now painted in the rainbow colours of the rainbow flag. The bridge was due vital repairs by Network Rail but it was suggested to them local LGBT campaigner Thomas Wales that they should also take this opportunity to re-paint the bridge in the rainbow colours of the Rainbow flag in order to relate to the LGBT area of gayleeds surrounding it. The maintenance work on the bridge began in September 2016 and was completed with the paintwork just in time for Valentines Day in February 2017. Once it was completed it became known as the 'Freedom Bridge" a term coined by local LGBT activist Ross McCusker, the term itself relates to the rainbow paintwork which is inspired by the late San Francisco artist Gilbert Baker's Freedom Flag. LGBT campaigner Thomas Wales mentioned that the idea came about because he wanted to highlight the changing, progressive landscape of the city. Leeds City Council and local business' also contributed their support to the project.

The Man Behind The Curtain is a restaurant in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, which was opened in 2014 by chef Michael O'Hare. The restaurant has a reputation for modern and often unusual food, with modern and artistic presentation. It was awarded a Michelin star in October 2015, and three AA Rosettes in 2016, following in the footsteps of three other Leeds restaurants to hold a Michelin star: Pool Court on the Calls (1996–2005); Rascasse on Water Lane (1997–2000); and Guellar (2002).
