Scotch College is an independent, Uniting Church, co-educational, day and boarding school, located on two adjacent campuses in Torrens Park and Mitcham, inner-southern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1919 out of the earlier Kyre College (1902–1918), and incorporated under an Act of Parliament in 1922, Scotch currently caters for approximately 1000 students including more than 100 boarders in Years 7 to 12.Scotch College is affiliated with the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference, the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA), the Association of Independent Schools of South Australia (AISSA), the Australian Boarding Schools' Association (ABSA), the Junior School Heads Association of Australia (JSHAA), the Independent Schools Sport Association (ISSA) and the Independent Girls' Schools Sport Association (IGSSA). On 4 September 2014, it was announced that John Newton would become the Principal from January 2015 for 5 years. He was previously headmaster of Taunton School in the UK. In 2021, he announced his upcoming retirement.

Mitcham Cemetery on Old Belair Road, Mitcham, South Australia is made up of three separate cemeteries: Mitcham General Cemetery, Mitcham Anglican Cemetery and St Joseph's Cemetery. The cemeteries are administered by the City of Mitcham, the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide and the Sisters of St. Joseph.The cemeteries had their origins in the 22 April 1854 grant of two acres (0.81 hectares) to the Bishop of Adelaide for the burial of 'Members of the Established United Church of England and Ireland' and another two acres to three trustees for the burial of those who '...had not been members of the Church of England'.Mitcham General Cemetery was 'established in 1854 for non conformist or "dissenting" Protestant denominations to compliment [sic] the neighbouring Church of England Cemetery.' Despite being extended on a number of occasions, new leases for burial plots are not being let, however existing leases can still be used for new burials. The first burial occurred on 3 November 1853.Mitcham Anglican Cemetery was established in 1854, up to 1953 it was controlled and maintained by members of the local parish of St Michael, and now by the Diocese of Adelaide.

Mitcham, formerly known as Mitcham Village, is an inner-southern suburb of Adelaide in the City of Mitcham.

Waite is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. Named after Peter Waite, a 19th century entrepreneur and philanthropist, it covers 75.4 km² of suburbs and foothills in Adelaide's inner south-east, taking in the suburbs of Belair, Blackwood, Brown Hill Creek, Coromandel East, Coromandel Valley, Crafers West, Craigburn Farm, Eden Hills, Glenalta, Hawthorndene, Kingswood, Lynton, Mitcham, Netherby, Springfield, Torrens Park, Urrbrae as well as part of Upper Sturt. Waite was created in the 1991 electoral distribution as a comfortably safe Liberal seat, replacing the abolished district of Mitcham, the only single-member lower house seat anywhere throughout Australia to be won by the Democrats. At the 1993 election, Mitcham's last member, Liberal deputy leader Stephen Baker, easily retained it amid that year's decisive Liberal victory. Baker served as Treasurer from 1993 to 1997. Upon his retirement at the 1997 election, he was succeeded by Martin Hamilton-Smith, who represented the seat as a member of the Liberal Party for 17 years holding several ministries and shadow ministries, and for a period was Leader of the Opposition. Two months after the 2014 election, Hamilton-Smith became an independent and held several ministries in the Weatherill Labor government. He retired at the 2018 election and was succeeded by Sam Duluk, the former Liberal member for Davenport.

Lower Mitcham is an inner southern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the local government area of Mitcham. To the north, it is bounded by Grange Road, to the east by Belair Road, to the south by Murray Street. To the west, the suburb is bordered by a line running from Murray Street along View Street and continuing north to Grange Road. There is only one institution in the suburb, the former Mitcham Primary School, which is now a Community Centre. There are no surviving shops in commercial use, there is a Guild Hall on Wattle Street, and there is the Mitcham Railway Station. There is a small sports (tennis) centre on Denman Terrace. All other buildings in the suburb are private residences. Many of the homes were built in the 1920s in the California Bungalow style.

Mitcham Square Shopping Centre is a shopping mall in the City of Mitcham, located on Belair Road, Torrens Park, an inner southern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It consists of 55 retail and food outlets, two supermarkets, Foodland and Woolworths, a seven screen cinema, operated by Wallis Cinemas, along with many specialty shops including Mitcham Square Newsagency which has been owned and operated by the same family for over 27 years. In 2004, a fire destroyed the original centre, leading to a A$60 million redevelopment.

Lynton is a suburb in the southern foothills hills of Adelaide, South Australia. A leafy suburb, it was established during the settlement of Adelaide as a source of timber. The nearby Windy Point lookout (formerly known as Observation Point) represents one of the best lookouts over the city and suburbs.
