Paravur Municipal Bus Stand or Paravur Private Bus Stand is the one and only bus stand in Paravur municipal town of Kollam district, Kerala. The bus stand construction project was implemented by the Municipal council of Paravur before some years.

Nehru Park or Children's Park, Paravur (also known as Paravur Municipal Park) is a public park situated at Paravur in Kollam Metropolitan Area, India. It is situated very close to Paravur railway station. Nehru Park is one of the main centres of recreational activities in Paravur town. Devarajan Master, most popular musician of Malayalam film industry(born in Paravur), was cremated at this park. A bronze statue of Devarajan Master sculpted by Kanayi Kunhiraman is there in the park. The compositions of Devarajan Master will be played in the park on every evening.

It is a 'NSG 5' class (formerly D-class) railway station coming under the Southern Railway zone.The annual passenger earnings of Paravur railway station during 2016–2017 is Rs. 1,47,90,285 and it is third in position from Kollam district among the stations collecting more than Rs.1,00,00,000 through passenger tickets.Paravur is connected to various cities in India like Kollam, Trivandrum, Ernakulam, Calicut, Thrissur, Kannur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Mangalore, Pune, Salem, Coimbatore, Trichy and Tirunelveli through Indian Railways. Proximity of Paravur railway station to the core Paravur town and Paravur Municipal Bus Stand is making it as one of the important public transport hubs in the district and the state.

Puttingal Temple is a Hindu temple in the coastal town of Paravur, India. The temple was founded after the presence of the goddess was experienced on an ant hill with Puttu being the Malayalam word for ant Hill.The main festival is celebrated on the day of Bharani star in Meenam. Fireworks and other events associated with the festival take place along with other cultural events with various poojas performed.

On 10 April 2016 at approximately 03:30 AM IST, the Puttingal Temple in Paravur, Kollam, Kerala, India, experienced an fireworks accident after firework celebrations went awry. As a result, 111 people were killed and more than 350 were injured, including some with severe burns. The temple and at least 150 houses in the area of the temple were damaged by the blast. According to local reports and eyewitnesses, the explosion and fire were caused by sparks from a firecracker being used in a competitive fireworks display igniting fireworks in a concrete storehouse. About 15,000 pilgrims were visiting the temple to mark local Hindu celebrations during the last day of a seven-day festival of the goddess Bhadrakali.On 13 April, in the aftermath of the event, the Kerala High Court banned the display after sunset of sound-emitting firecrackers in all places of worship in the state.This was the second major firework disaster reported in the news within southern India in recent years, after the Sivakasi factory explosion in the state of Tamil Nadu on 5 September 2012. The shrine is administered by a private trust.

Kottappuram or Kottapuram is an urban village, situated at Paravur municipality in Kollam district, Kerala. It is one among the two villages in Paravur municipality and one among the 30 villages coming under Kollam Taluk.Kottapuram is situated in between Paravur town and Paravur Thekkumbhagam. It is on the way towards Varkala.

Madhuca diplostemon is a species of flowering plant in the family Sapotaceae, endemic to India. It is a threatened tree species of the Western Ghats whose original specimens were collected in 1835, and it was considered extinct for 184 years until a single living specimen was discovered in a sacred grove in Kollam district, when scientists at the Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute (JNTBGRI) identified the tree as Madhuca diplostemon rather than the common attilippa (Madhuca neriifolia). The lone mature tree was located at the Koonayil Ayiravilli Shiva temple at Paravur, Kollam, Kerala. Surveys in other sacred groves in Kollam district failed to find another tree of the species. Since the species is represented by only one specimen in a single locality, it is eligible to be categorized as 'Critically Endangered' by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), the JNTBGRI has noted.

Thekkumbhagam or Thekkumbhagom is the southern border town of Paravur municipality in the Kollam district of Kerala, India. It is located at the Southern tip of Kollam's coastal area. It is in the Arabian Sea coast. Thekkumbhagam-Kappil estuary point in the Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram coastal border is one of the emerging tourism spots in the state. On 1936, during formation, Thekkumbhagam was one of the nine territories of Paravur Panchayath. Thekkumbhagam estuary is one among the twin estuary points in Paravur. Paravur Kayal is a lake in Paravur, Kollam district, Kerala, India. Although it is small, with an area of only 6.62 km², it is the end point of the Ithikkara River and part of the system of lakes and canals that make up the Kerala Backwaters. It has been connected to Edava and Ashtamudi Kayal as part of the Trivandrum - Shoranur canal system since the late 19th century.

Pozhikkara or Pozhikara is the Western border town of the Paravur municipality in the Kollam district of Kerala state in India. It is located at the South-Western tip of Kollam's coastal area. It is in the Arabian Sea coast. Pozhikara is a heritage site in Kerala. Visitors, including foreign visitors come to Paravur and Pozhikara to see the estuary, backwaters and beaches. As per the 2018 study report by Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute(CMRFRI) of India, Pozhikkara beach is one of the 16 best-kept beaches in India, topper from the state of Kerala.

Nedungolam or Nedumgolam is the Northern border town of Paravur municipality in the Kollam district of Kerala state, India. Nedungolam is very near to the world-famous-wetland in Kollam district, Polachira, which is a favorite destination for migratory birds. A census conducted on 2003 reveals that over 26,000 birds belonging to 37 species are visiting or living in the Polachira wetlands.

Thanni Beach is a beach situated approximately 10 kilometers from Kollam City in Kerala, India. Situated beside the Kollam Coastal Road, the beach is also accessible from both Kollam Beach and Mayyanad via the Thanni Bridge, making it popular among locals and tourists alike. Tetrapod breakwaters, locally called Pulimuttu, line the shore to reduce wave intensity and create a safe swimming area. Uniquely, a thin landmass separates the beach from Paravur Lake, offering visitors the chance to experience both backwaters and beachfront in close proximity.
