Riley Leroy Pitts (October 15, 1937 – October 31, 1967) was a United States Army captain and the first African-American officer to receive the Medal of Honor. The medal was presented posthumously by President Lyndon B. Johnson on December 10, 1968 for actions in Ap Dong, Republic of Vietnam.

Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center (EOCTC) is a public career and technology education center located in Choctaw, Oklahoma, United States and is part of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education system.

Oklahoma Lake is located in north east Oklahoma City in the Canadian river valley and borders the North Canadian River by Westminster Road. The surface area is around 60 ares (65,000 sq ft) with a 0.5 ares (540 sq ft) island and the shoreline is primarily sand. The lake is fed from ground water and the water is usually calm because of the low elevation. The primary fish species are crappie, bass, and channel catfish. Oklahoma Lake activities include swimming, camping, picnics, fishing, and jet-ski sports.

Nicoma Park is a city in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States, and a part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. The name Nicoma is a portmanteau of the first three letters of Nichols, for G.A. Nichols, and the last three letters of Oklahoma. The population was 2,313 at the 2020 census, a 3.3% decrease from 2010.

Choctaw is a city in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States. It is the oldest chartered town in Oklahoma Territory. The city is located approximately 10 miles (16.1 km) east of Oklahoma City and is part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Choctaw became a community in 1890, but was not given actual status as a town until 1893 when a territorial governor was appointed for Oklahoma. It officially celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1993. In 1950, Choctaw was in an agricultural area. It had a population of 355 in that year. Despite its name, the town has no cultural, historical or governmental ties to the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The tribal headquarters and casino are located in the southeastern part of the state in Durant, Oklahoma, and the Choctaw Capitol Building and annual Labor Day Festival are in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma. Before Choctaw was chartered, the area included a part of William McClure's 7C Ranch and was known for a trading post and a camping spot near a spring.A community emerged on the east 80 acres (320,000 m2) of land John S. Muzzy claimed in the 1889 land run and received a postal designation in early 1890.The town incorporated in April 1904. When Oklahoma became a state in 1907, the town had 230 residents, four churches, a school, a bank, a newspaper and telephone service. By 1909, the town had three gins. The population grew very little during the Great Depression.

Choctaw High School is a public high school (grades 9-12) in Choctaw, Oklahoma. It is a part of the Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District. The district (of which this is the sole comprehensive high school) includes the majority of Choctaw as well as most of Nicoma Park and portions of Harrah, Midwest City, and Oklahoma City.As of 2020, it has 1,602 students and 81.84 teachers (FTE) for a student-teacher ratio of approximately 20:1. In 2017 it was ranked as the 28th best high school in Oklahoma by US News. It is the only high school in the Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District.

Spencer is a city in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States, and a part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. The population was 3,912 at the 2010 census. Established in 1903, the City of Spencer is a historic community located just east of the North Canadian River. Spencer is approximately ten miles from downtown Oklahoma City and borders the cities of Nicoma Park to the east and Midwest City to the south. Contributing to the cultural fabric of Spencer are the Spencer Chamber of Commerce, the Facebook page-Whats going on in Spencer Oklahoma, Spencer Senior Center, Spencer Parks Board and the Spencer Historical Society.

The Arcadia Round Barn is a landmark and tourist attraction on historic U.S. Route 66 in Arcadia, Oklahoma, United States. It was built by local farmer William Harrison Odor in 1898 using native bur oak boards soaked while green and forced into the curves needed for the walls and roof rafters. A second level was incorporated for use as a community gathering place. The town of Arcadia developed and prospered with the arrival of the railroad and in the 1920s the newly commissioned Route 66 was aligned through the town, passing next to the Round Barn. Over time, the barn became the most photographed landmark on Route 66. With the reduction of traffic along Route 66 following the arrival of the Interstate, Arcadia and the barn likewise declined. In 1988 the 60 foot diameter roof collapsed. A team of volunteers led by Luther Robison worked to rebuild the structure, and restoration work was completed in 1992. Today the old barn is a tourist attraction and visitors admire the architectural and engineering details of America's only truly round (as opposed to hexagonal or octagonal) barn.

Pops restaurant in Arcadia, Oklahoma is a modern roadside attraction on Route 66. Using a theme of soda pop, it is marked by a giant neon sign in the shape of a soda pop bottle. The glass walls of the restaurant are decorated with shelves of soda pop bottles, arranged by beverage color. These bottles are for sale as-is, or may be purchased cold from the huge refrigerator at the western end. Opened in 2007, the restaurant's structure incorporates a cantilevered truss extending 100 feet over the gas pumps and parking area in the forecourt. The roadside sign is 66 feet tall and weighs 4 tons. The height is a reference to the historic highway beside which it is situated. Although apparently constructed from neon tubes, it is actually lit by LEDs, which provide a spectacular light show each night. The establishment was owned by the late Oklahoman oil and gas magnate Aubrey McClendon and was designed by the noted architecture firm Elliott + Associates Architects. Pops has won several architectural awards.In 2016 a second location was opened in Nichols Hills, Oklahoma incorporating the idea of the original location, but with a modern design. Although the glass walls are also decorated with shelves of bottles, arranged by color, bottles are only for sale from the refrigerator. Unlike the first location, this location also features a wide variety of candy and sweets. The second location closed on December 21, 2018 due to unknown reasons.

Star Spencer High School is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1901 a group of people from Spencer County, Indiana relocated in Oklahoma. They built an elevator and mill, a grocery store and later a hardware store. They named their new town Spencer for their old home and eventually called their school Spencer as well. Star School (in a nearby area) was named by Henry Dodd in honor of a school in Kansas where he had lived previously. Two schools merged to become Star Spencer in 1956. The official mascot for the school is the Bobcats. Star Spencer is part of the Oklahoma City Public Schools. Notable alumnus include Mr. Myron Jacobs and Mr. Daniel Peoples. Alumni also include Dr. Lahoma Hicks Schultz, noted psychologist, author and lecturer. The football stadium (Carl Twidwell Stadium) was named after Carl Twidwell, athletic director, football coach, and vice principal. All graduates of Star Spencer High School, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, have the opportunity to receive free tuition and mandatory fees if they attend Rose State College, a community college in Midwest City, through the Ticket to Rose program.

Arcadia is a town in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States, and a part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. The population was 247 at the 2010 census, a decrease of 11.5 percent from the figure of 279 in 2000.

Arcadia Lake is a reservoir in Central Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States. The lake is located northeast of Oklahoma City in eastern Edmond, just east of Interstate 35. The lake has a surface area of 1,820 acres (7 km²) and has about 26 miles (42 km) of shoreline. The lake was created in 1984 by an earthen dam on the Deep Fork River begun in 1980 (1980). This lake was constructed as a cooperative effort between the City of Edmond and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It was created to control floods in the Deep Fork River Basin, supply water to the city of Edmond, and provide recreational resources to the surrounding communities. Recreational opportunities at Arcadia Lake include fishing, boating, camping, mountain biking, hiking, disc golf and equestrian trails. Waterskiing and Jet Skiing are both allowed in designated areas. Horse rentals are not available, so visitors must bring their own mounts. Facilities include picnic areas, a Frisbee golf course, pavilions, boat ramps, designated swim beaches and an enclosed and heated fishing dock that is handicapped accessible. Arcadia Lake also features RV campsites with full hookups and primitive tent campsites. Parks around the lake include Scissortail Park, Spring Creek Park, Central State Park and Edmond Park.
