SandHoke Early College

Sandhills Community College is a public community college in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Sandhills was chartered in 1963 and officially opened October 1, 1965. It was the first comprehensive community college authorized and established as the result of legislation passed by the 1963 General Assembly of North Carolina. It is part of the North Carolina Community College System. Sandhills Community College has about 4,000 students enrolled in college-credit curriculum courses and over 11,000 students who take continuing-education courses annually.

Sandhills Horticultural Gardens (27 acres) are gardens and natural areas located on the campus of Sandhills Community College, 3395 Airport Road, Pinehurst, North Carolina, in the United States. They are open to the public daily without charge. The gardens include a formal garden in the English style, collections of conifers and holly, a native wetland trail, a fruit and vegetable garden, roses, azaleas, rhododendrons, and a xeriscape devoted to cacti, yuccas, and other succulents.

Pinehurst Regional Airport (IATA: SOP, ICAO: KSOP, FAA LID: SOP) is a public airport located 3 miles (5 km) north of Southern Pines and 5 miles northeast of Pinehurst, in Moore County, North Carolina, USA. The airport covers 500 acres (202 ha) and has one runway. The current runway is paved, 6,502 feet long and 150 feet wide. SOP is primarily used for general aviation. US Airways Express carrier CCAir operated flights to Charlotte with various turboprop aircraft from 1991-2002. Service ended shortly after the September 11 attacks. Commercial service returned briefly with the arrival of Delta Air Lines in 2006. The airline operated seasonal CRJ flights to its Atlanta hub under the Delta Connection banner. The service ended in November 2007. West Coast airline JSX, started special single summer seasonal service in the summer of 2020 to the airport with a partnership with the nearby Pinehurst Golf Resort. These flights, marketed as "pop-up flights" originated at Dallas Love Field and Westchester County Airport and are targeted toward wealthy company executives going to golf for 3–4 days.

Southern Pines is a town in Moore County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 12,334 as of the 2010 United States Census.

The 1972 Titleholders Championship was contested from May 26–29 at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. It was the 28th and final edition of the Titleholders Championship, following a six-year hiatus. It was the only edition not played at the Augusta Country Club. This event was won by Sandra Palmer.

The Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club is a country club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. The club's golf course was designed by Donald Ross.The club hosted the U.S. Women's Open in 1996, 2001, 2007, and 2022, and staged the last Titleholders Championship in 1972. Those tournaments were won by Annika Sörenstam, Karrie Webb, Cristie Kerr, Minjee Lee, and Sandra Palmer respectively. It hosted the 1991 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur, won by Phyllis Preuss and hosted the 2019 U.S. Senior Women's Open, won by Helen Alfredsson.

The 2019 U.S. Senior Women's Open was the second U.S. Senior Women's Open. It was a professional golf tournament organized by the United States Golf Association, open to women over 50 years of age. The championship was played at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club, Southern Pines, North Carolina, United States, from May 16 to 19. The championship was won by Helen Alfredsson.

The 2022 U.S. Women's Open Presented by ProMedica was the 77th U.S. Women's Open, held June 2 to June 5 at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Minjee Lee won the second of her two major titles, four strokes ahead of runner-up Mina Harigae. Ingrid Lindblad finished leading amateur at tied 11th. She beat the amateur scoring records over 18, 36 and 54 holes and tied the 72-hole amateur record in the tournament.Pine Needles previously hosted the championship in 1996, 2001, and 2007, becoming the first course to host the tournament four times.

The 1996 U.S. Women's Open was the 51st U.S. Women's Open, held May 30 to June 2 at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Defending champion Annika Sörenstam retained the title, six strokes ahead of runner-up Kris Tschetter. It was the second of her ten major titles; her third came nearly five years later. ESPN and NBC Sports televised the tournament. Sörenstam was the sixth of seven to win consecutive titles at the U.S. Women's Open, most recently accomplished by Karrie Webb in 2001, also at Pine Needles. The championship returned to the venue for a third time in 2007, won by Cristie Kerr. This was the first women's major with a winner's share of $200,000 or more; the U.S. Women's Open became the tour's richest major this year, passing the LPGA Championship.

The 2007 U.S. Women's Open was the 62nd U.S. Women's Open, held June 28 to July 1 at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Cristie Kerr won the first of her two major titles, two strokes ahead of runners-up Lorena Ochoa and Angela Park. The event was televised by ESPN and NBC Sports. Due to weather delays, the third round began on Saturday afternoon and was completed on Sunday morning. Kerr shot 66 (−5) to gain the 54-hole lead at 209 (−4), one stroke ahead of top-ranked Ochoa, Morgan Pressel, and Jiyai Shin.Pine Needles previously hosted the championship in 1996 and 2001; it joined Atlantic City Country Club (1948, 1965, 1975) as the only courses to host three U.S. Women's Opens.

The 2001 U.S. Women's Open was the 56th U.S. Women's Open, held May 31 to June 3 at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina. This was the second of four major championships on the LPGA Tour in 2001. Defending champion Karrie Webb repeated as champion, eight strokes ahead of runner-up Se Ri Pak, the largest margin in 21 years. Webb became the seventh to win consecutive titles at the U.S. Women's Open, and the win was the fifth of her seven major titles. Pine Needles previously hosted the championship in 1996 and it returned in 2007.

Pinecrest High School (PHS) is a high school located in Southern Pines, North Carolina in the United States. It is part of the Moore County School District, and was built in 1969. Pinecrest High School is ranked 105th within North Carolina. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams. The AP participation rate at Pinecrest High School is 40%. The total minority enrollment is 38% and 24% of students are economically disadvantaged. Pinecrest High School is 1 of 3 high schools in Moore County Schools. Pinecrest offered an IB Diploma track until 2009, when the program was cancelled due to budgetary concerns and lack of student interest. On March 14, 2020, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper closed all schools March 16 through May 16 due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic. On April 25, Governor Roy Cooper closed all schools for the rest of the school year. In June 2020, Cooper announced a plan for all students to go back to school, some on Monday and Tuesday and others Thursday and Friday while Wednesday is used to sanitize. On March 12, 2021, Moore County Schools announced five day a week classes would resume.
