Pentre Berw

Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog (occasionally spelt Llanfihangel Esgeifiog or Llanfihangelesgeifiog) is a community (civil parish) and former ecclesiastical parish in Anglesey, Wales, east of Llangefni.

Holland Arms railway station was situated on the Anglesey Central Railway line from Gaerwen to Amlwch. Located in the village of Pentre Berw it was known as Holland Arms because of the well known hotel of the same name in the village. It also served as the junction of the Red Wharf Bay branch line from 1908 onwards.The original platform was on the Down (west) side of the track and had a wooden building containing a waiting room and ticket office on it. This was replaced by a stone building in 1882. There was also a small goods yard on the down side, just north of the platform. In 1908 to serve the new branch line a second platform with stone building was erected on the Up side (east). When the Red Wharf Bay branch closed to all traffic in 1950, there was little traffic at Holland Arms, and the station closed in 1952, the first on the Anglesey Central line to do so. Only one platform survives and the station building survives too. The single track goes past the station, towards Gaerwen, one way, and Amlwch the other way.

Gaerwen (Welsh pronunciation) is a village on the island of Anglesey in the community of Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog. It is located in the south of the island 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll and 4 miles (6.4 km) southeast of Llangefni . The A5 runs through the village, and the A55 runs just a few hundred metres north. According to the 2011 Census Gaerwen is now listed by the Office for National Statistics as Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog. The population of the community is 1,551. Gaerwen and Pentre Berw, Llangaffo are trio villages. The village gets its name from a combination of the Welsh words Caer (mutated to Gaer), meaning 'fortification', and Wen, meaning 'white'. There are no clear remains of a fort in the area, although the name was originally that of a farm in the area, before becoming the name for the entire settlement.

St Michael's Church, Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog, is a former parish church in Anglesey, Wales, which is now closed and in ruins. The structure dates from the 15th century and a chapel was added to the north side in the 17th century. A replacement church (St Michael's, Gaerwen) was built elsewhere in the parish in 1847, and the old church was closed, partly demolished and abandoned. Some restoration work has taken place in the 21st century and some occasional services have been held. It is a Grade II listed building, a national designation given to "buildings of special interest, which warrant every effort being made to preserve them", in particular because it is "an important survival, retaining unrestored original late medieval features."

Gaerwen railway station was situated on the North Wales Coast Line, serving as the junction for the Anglesey Central Railway line to Amlwch.

Hirdre-Faig or Hirdrefaig is an area in the community of Llanddyfnan, Ynys Môn, Wales, which is 130.7 miles (210.3 km) from Cardiff and 212.3 miles (341.7 km) from London. According to the antiquary Thomas Nicholas in his 1872 book, the Hirdre-Faig estate was owned by a family that could trace its ancestry to Bleddyn ap Cynfyn. Their house is known to have been built in three phases, the latest of which has been dated to about 1710.The other point of historic interest is a standing stone, which was designated an ancient monument in 2006.

Lledwigan is a village in the community of Llangristiolus, Anglesey, Wales, which is 130.8 miles (210.6 km) from Cardiff and 213.4 miles (343.4 km) from London.

Ceint railway station was a station in Anglesey, Wales situated on the Red Wharf Bay branch line between Holland Arms and Benllech. It was the first station after the line branched from the main Anglesey Central Railway. Opening in 1908 it was a very simple station with only one short 60 ft (18 m) platform on the Up (south-east) side and a wooden waiting hut. It was an unstaffed request stop with neither goods yard nor sidings. Ordnance Survey maps show that this, along with the station next on the line Rhyd-y-Saint are two of the most remote on the island. When the line closed to passengers in 1930 the station building was removed. Although the tracks were taken up in 1953 the platform itself is still visible from a nearby road bridge.

Llangefni Rugby Football Club (Welsh: Clwb Rygbi Llangefni) is a rugby union team from the town of Llangefni, on the island of Anglesey, North Wales. Llangefni RFC is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union.

The Anglesey Coalfield is a minor British coalfield. Although it is situated in north-west Wales, this isolated coalfield on Anglesey is not usually considered to form a part of the North Wales Coalfield which lies in Flintshire and Denbighshire in north-east Wales although both measures were formed during the Carboniferous period. Stretching from Nant and Hirdrefaig in the Pentre Berw area along Cors Ddyga ("Tygai's marsh") and under the sea at Malltraeth village which was called 'yr Iard' or 'Iard Malltraeth'. On the western side of the Afon Cefni lies Cors Malltraeth. It was named after Cwmwd Malltraeth (Commote) which was the old Welsh way of dividing the Isle of Mona by the Welsh Princes and the Church. Both coalfields measure around 9 miles long.Working the coal on Cors Ddyga at such places as Nant, Tyddyn Mawr, Penrhyn Mawr, Gwaith Berw (New Berw Mine), Berw Uchaf and Tai Hirion took place during the coalfield's 300 year productive life from the fifteenth to the late nineteenth century. The work on and above Cors Malltraeth below Llangristiolus, Paradwys, Trefdraeth and under the bay at Malltraeth village progressed throughout the nineteenth century. During the early years of the twentieth century a committee was formed to reopen the coalfield at Llangristiolus but the middle class and farming gentry did not support the venture.
