Holland Christian Schools

Holland Christian High School is a private, Calvinist high school in the city of Holland, Michigan. Holland Christian's colors are maroon and white, and their nickname is "The Maroons". Holland Christian High School is the only grade 9–12 building in the Holland Christian Schools system.

Calvary Schools of Holland (CSH) is a private Christian school located in Holland, Michigan. Calvary Schools educates students ranging in age from junior kindergarten to 12th grade at 2 locations. Calvary Schools employs a model of education based on English educator Charlotte Mason. Calvary Schools is a member school of Ambleside Schools International. Calvary Schools is accredited by Accreditation International, the National Council for Private School Accreditation, and the Association of Christian Schools International.

Holland Public Schools is a school district in Holland, Michigan, United States, founded in 1848. There are 314 teachers, with an average of 14 years experience each, most possessing master's degrees. They offer instruction in core curriculum along with other programs, including art, music, athletics, theater, forensics, K-12 Spanish, technology literacy, special education, English as a Second Language, and extra-curricular activities.

Holland Hospital is a non-profit hospital located in the West Michigan lakeshore area. The hospital was founded in 1917 and it serves the greater Holland area and surrounding communities throughout Ottawa and Allegan counties. As of February 2014, Holland Hospital has a 189-bed main campus with more than 300 physicians, and a 2,000 member hospital staff that includes 550 registered nurses.

The Macatawa River, also known as the Black River, is located in the lower part of Ottawa County, Michigan, which drains into Lake Macatawa and eventually into Lake Michigan. The main stream is 16.8 miles (27.0 km) long.Preluding the migration of Dutch settlers, the region was originally inhabited by three Anishinaabe nations: the Ottawa, Ojibwe, and Potawatomi. Together they comprised the Council of Three Fires who spoke the Algonquian languages. The indigenous name of the river is approximated to be the word “mak-a-tew-gamie”, meaning “black water” in the Ottawa dialect. Because they spoke oral languages, the name was written by the European immigrants in twenty-five variations, which led to the mis-phoneticized word Macatawa used today.The Macatawa River Greenway is a corridor of land along the river including a number of private and public parcels that provides a green highway for wildlife and recreational opportunities for people along the water. Land along the Macatawa River open to the public includes: Upper Macatawa Natural Area, Hawthorn Pond, Adams Street Landing, Ridge Point Community Church Natural Area, Paw Paw Park, Windmill Island, Window on the Waterfront Park, Dunton Park, Kollen Park and Holland State Park. A number of entities contribute to the management of the public areas along the Macatawa River Greenway including: Outdoor Discovery Center Macatawa Greenway (non-profit), Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Commission, City of Holland, Zeeland Township, Holland Township and Park Township.

Third Reformed Church of Holland is a historic church at 111 W. 13th Street in Holland, Michigan. It was built in 1874 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

The Holland Historic District is a primarily residential historic district in Holland, Michigan. It includes buildings along 11th, 12th, and 13th Streets from roughly Washington Boulevard on the west to College Avenue on the east, along with buildings on 14th Street from Pine Avenue on the west to just past College Avenue on the east, and buildings on 15th Street from Pine Avenue to River Avenue. The original portion of the district, on 11th, 12th, and 13th Streets between Washington Boulevard and Pine Avenue, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The remainder of the district was listed on the Register in 1990.

The Isaac Cappon House was constructed as a private house, located at 228 West 9th Street in Holland, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It is now operated as the Cappon House Museum.

The Thomas and Anna Morrissey House was built as a private house, located at 190 West 9th Street in Holland, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. It is one of the few houses in the area still standing that survived the disastrous 1871 forest fire that decimated Holland. The house has been restored to how it would have appeared in 1871, and is operated by the Holland Museum as the Settlers House Museum.

Herrick District Library is a public library system serving the residents of Holland, Michigan and the surrounding townships. In 2008-2009, over the course of 583,000 visits, library cardholders checked out 1.2 million items.

The Holland Civic Center Place is a 2,000-seat multi-purpose event center located in Holland, Michigan, United States. It hosts local sporting events, recreation programming, public expos and concerts/live entertainment. The venue can also be rented for private events such as corporate luncheons, wedding receptions, expos/tradeshows, and many other uses.

Holland is a city in the western region of the Lower Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is situated near the eastern shore of Lake Michigan on Lake Macatawa, which is fed by the Macatawa River (formerly known locally as the Black River). Holland is a thriving city with a diverse economy that includes manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, and higher education. It is home to a number of prominent companies, including Herman Miller, Haworth, and Johnson Controls. The city also attracts thousands of visitors each year for its annual Tulip Time Festival, which celebrates the area's Dutch heritage and vibrant tulip fields. The city spans the Ottawa/Allegan county line, with 9.08 sq mi (23.52 km2) in Ottawa and the remaining 8.13 sq mi (21.06 km2) in Allegan. As of the 2010 census, the population was 33,051, with an urbanized area population of 113,164, as of 2015. Holland is the largest city in both Ottawa and Allegan counties. The Ottawa County portion is part of the Grand Rapids-Kentwood Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the Allegan County portion is part of the Holland Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is coextensive with Allegan County. As of 2013, both areas are part of the Grand Rapids–Kentwood–Muskegon Combined Statistical Area. Holland was founded by Dutch Americans, and is in an area that has a large percentage of citizens of Dutch American heritage. It is home to Hope College and Western Theological Seminary, institutions of the Reformed Church in North America.
