The Chardon Courthouse Square District is located in Chardon, Ohio, and contains the Geauga County Courthouse as well as the several buildings serving as the courthouse annexes. The district was added to the National Register on 1974-10-18. The Chardon Courthouses Square District is a group of late 19th century buildings, most in a High Victorian Italianate Style. The district covers the public green, the county courthouse and two blocks of commercial buildings on the west side of the public green. The green is divided into a north unit and a south unit with the Geauga County Courthouse in the north unit.

Chardon High School (commonly Chardon, Chardon High, or CHS), is a public high school in Chardon, Ohio, USA, serving students in grades 8-12. The school is part of the Chardon Local School District, with admission based primarily on the location of students' homes. As of the 2021-22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,159 students and 54.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 21.46.

On the morning of February 27, 2012, six students were shot at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, resulting in the deaths of three of them. Witnesses said that the shooter had a personal rivalry with one of his victims. Two other wounded students were also hospitalized, one of whom sustained several serious injuries that have resulted in permanent paralysis. The fifth student suffered a minor injury, and the sixth a superficial wound. By the evening of February 27, authorities confirmed that the suspect was Thomas Michael "T. J." Lane III, a 17-year-old male juvenile and former student of Chardon, who was a sophomore at Lake Academy Alternative School and used a bus in common with several victims. Lane used a .22 caliber handgun. Lane was soon arrested by police near his car parked outside the school. Lane was ultimately indicted on three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of aggravated attempted murder, and one count of felonious assault. Because of his age, he was detained as a juvenile pending a decision by the prosecution and court as to whether he would be tried as an adult. Following a competency hearing, in May 2012, a judge determined that Lane was competent to stand trial. Later that month the decision was made to charge Lane as an adult. He pleaded guilty and received three consecutive life sentences without parole on March 19, 2013. In February 2014 the families of the three deceased students and Nick Walczak filed a wrongful death suit in Lake County against the Chardon School District and Lake Academy Alternative School. The Lake County judge dismissed the District and Lake Academy as parties, retaining only five former and current employees of the Chardon School District and high school as defendants. The families appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court, which declined to hear the case in July 2016. It was returned to the Lake County Common Pleas court. In addition, attorneys representing the estates of the three deceased students filed federal and state wrongful death suits against the family of T.J. Lane, which was settled in May 2014, including settlement of suits against his father, maternal grandfather, and paternal uncle (and their associated insurance companies). The Lane family agreed to pay nearly 2.7 million dollars.On September 11, 2014, Lane, along with two older inmates, escaped from Allen Correctional Institution in Lima, Ohio. He was captured the following day, and the three men were transferred to a maximum security prison.

Bass Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in Geauga County, Ohio, United States, corresponding to the unincorporated community of West Bass Lake. The area was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.The CDP is in the northwest part of Geauga County, in northeastern Munson Township. It is on the northwest side of Bass Lake, a natural lake on the Chagrin River, and extends up the valley side to the northwest as far as Wilson Mills Road at the top of the hill. It is 2 miles (3 km) southwest of Chardon, the Geauga county seat, and 27 miles (43 km) east of downtown Cleveland.

Sand Ridge Golf Club, was designed by Tom Fazio and is located in Munson Township, Geauga County, Ohio, near Chardon. Construction on the course started in late 1995 and opened for its private members on May 18, 1998. The course was built on 370 acres (1.5 km2) of woods, pastures and wetlands located next to the Fairmount Minerals sandstone quarry in Chardon. It also contains the headwaters of both the Chagrin and Cuyahoga rivers. Sand Ridge is recognized as a top-caliber golf course and ranked as high as 52nd best course in the U.S for 2005-2006 by Golf Digest. Sand Ridge was the first course in Ohio, and one of a select few in the world, to be designated as a Certified Audubon International Signature Wildlife Sanctuary.Sand Ridge merged with The Mayfield Country Club in 2006, and is now half of The Mayfield Sand Ridge Club. Having two courses available to the members has made the combination especially desirable in the Eastern Cleveland Private Club market. in 2018, the club was purchased by local business executive, Monte Ahuja, who also owns Barrington Golf Club
