It is situated in the civil parish of Wendron approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of Wendron. The hamlet itself is at grid reference SW 669 322, but the name Bodilly generally covers the area northwest of Wendron.

Poldark Mine is a tourist attraction near the town of Helston in Cornwall, England, UK. It lies within the Wendron Mining District of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. Its features include underground guided tours through ancient tin mine workings; a museum of industrial heritage, mining equipment and Cornish social history; and a scheduled ancient monument and riverside gardens.It opened in 1972 as Wendron Forge and was later known as Ha'penny Park. After an ancient tin mine was discovered on the site it was renamed after Winston Graham's Poldark novels and the BBC television series that was first broadcast in 1975. The mine was researched by A. K. Hamilton Jenkin, an authority on Cornish mining history, who attributed it to Wheal Roots which had been active in the 18th century. The original owner, Peter Young, sold Poldark Mine in 1988 following which it passed through two owners and declined in popularity. It went into administration for the second time in 2014, and in that year was bought by David Edwards who had been involved with the Ffestiniog Railway and the Llechwedd Slate Caverns in Wales. He said he hoped to keep Poldark Mine as an open-air museum and heritage centre. In September 2022, it was reported that the mine had been closed for three years due to Edwards failing to pay rent for the attractions' underground portions, which are owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.

Theories about its name are: That its name started as Cornish dialect English for "wet my throat", here used as a name for a dry field. Earlier: that this name is a corruption of "waterman route", due to it being near the water supply towards one of the sources of the River Cober. That the name derives from a corruption of Welter-ma (from "wheal" and "man") and "Trout", the name of the miner.

Lowertown-by-Helston is a large hamlet in Sithney civil parish, bordering Wendron parish, in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The hamlet is one mile north of the centre of the town of Helston, and is built around the River Cober. The hamlet used to be an industrial village, with mills, mines, railway stations, shops and churches; all of which have been closed down. The settlement is named Lowertown on Ordnance Survey maps. The longer name is used when necessary to distinguish it from the Lowertown in Luxulyan parish. Because Lowertown is built on the banks of the River Cober it is vulnerable to flooding. The hamlet is not known to have destructive floods but the river can overflow onto the road and path along it. The hill going down into Lowertown can also flood, but has never had a dramatic flood. There are still remains of the mills and mines at Lowertown. The mills have been turned into houses as well as the other historic features and the old mines have now been taken away; but there are still remnants such as leats and other mine workings. The hamlet of Gwavas is joined onto Lowertown. The Helston railway went through Lowertown and there are two bridges in the hamlet and a 90-foot viaduct.
