The Barnesville Historic District consists of the oldest part of Barnesville, Ohio, originally platted in 1808 and contains roughly 40 acres and 180 buildings. The district was added to the National Register on July 19, 1984.

The Barnesville Pumpkin Festival is an annual festival in Barnesville, Ohio, dedicated to the growing and harvesting of pumpkins and other fall harvests. The festival, which has been held since 1964, is conducted by a locally appointed committee and attracts an average of 100,000 people during the 4-day event.

The Belmont County Victorian Mansion Museum is located at 532 North Chestnut Street in Barnesville, Ohio. The mansion's construction began in 1888 and was completed in 1893. A gazebo was added to the property in the 90's and is a popular place for many weddings.

Barnesville station is a historic train station in Barnesville, Ohio. It is located at 300 East Church Street, between Mulberry and Railroad Streets. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 8, 1985, as the Barnesville Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Depot.

The Barnesville-Bradfield Airport (FAA LID: 6G5) is a publicly owned, public use airport located 1 mile northwest of Barnesville, Ohio in Belmont County. The airport sits on 55 acres at an elevation 1312 feet (400 m). The airport is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) as a General Aviation facility. The airport holds an annual Airport Day in early summer. The day includes aircraft displays, airplane rides, games, and food. The Airport Authority, Barnesville Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Barnesville sponsor the event to generate interest in aviation, especially as a career field, and promote the airport's role in boosting the local economy.

Barnesville High School is a public high school in Barnesville, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Barnesville Exempted Village School District. Athletic teams compete as the Barnesville Shamrocks in the Ohio High School Athletic Association as a member of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference.

Olney Friends School is a small, co-educational boarding and day school affiliated with the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Barnesville, Ohio, the school "challenges students to grow, celebrates intellectual vigor, provokes questions of conscience, and nurtures skills for living in community." Students come from around Ohio, around the country, and around the world to study the college prep curriculum. Currently (2017-2018), the school is attended by 53 students from 14 US states and 10 countries (usually about 30% Quaker and 30% international). Community identity is created each school year during an initial orientation period and maintained through weekend activities, dorm activities, advisory and class meetings, and a variety of service activities. Students work daily in the Main Building and in the residence halls. Sustainability is an ongoing theme in the life of the school, whose 350-acre (1.4 km2) campus includes a certified organic farm that provides food, work, and recreational opportunities for students and staff. Olney Friends School is chartered by the state of Ohio and accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS). They are members of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the Ohio Association of Independent Schools (OAIS), Friends Council on Education (FCE), the Midwest Boarding Schools Association (MWBS), The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) and the Small Boarding Schools Association (SBSA).

Tacoma is an unincorporated community in Belmont County, in the U.S. state of Ohio.

Belmont County Children's Home (1880–1981) was an orphanage, located in Tacoma in Belmont County, east of Barnesville, Ohio, United States. It was a brick building with a cupola on each of the central 4-story towers and two three-story wings. It was built on a 65-acre site with hilltop views. A children's cemetery remains. The orphanage closed in 1981 and the empty buildings were demolished in 1990. The children's home is commemorated in a mural commissioned by the Barnesville Village Council, on the west side of the Domino's Pizza building at 146 W. Main St. in downtown Barnesville.
