Old Belses

Belses is a village on the Ale Water, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland the former Selkirkshire. It is situated close to Old Belses, and lies south of St Boswells, west of Jedburgh, north of Hawick, and east of Selkirk. Other places nearby include Ancrum, Ashkirk, Belses, Hassendean, Lilliesleaf, Minto, Old Belses, and Salenside. Belses was the site of a railway station on the former Waverley Line, a double track railway which linked Edinburgh with Carlisle. The NBR (North British Railway) closed in 1969.

Fatlips Castle is a peel tower in Roxburghshire, in the Scottish Borders. Situated at the top of Minto Crags, above the River Teviot, it was built in the 16th century by the Turnbulls of Barnhills, notorious Border reivers, and owners of nearby Barnhills Tower and farm. In 1545, during the War of the Rough Wooing, the Earl of Hertford burned "Mantoncrake", or Mynto Crag.

The Rule Water is a river in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, and a tributary of the River Teviot. The Rule Water rises in Wauchope Forest and passes Hobkirk, Bonchester Bridge, Hallrule, Abbotrule, and Bedrule until it joins the River Teviot at Spittal-on-Rule. Hassendean is a hamlet in the Scottish Borders south of Edinburgh, Scotland. The stream is the Hassendean Burn which flows down to the River Teviot five miles (eight kilometres) away. The village's name has been written as Hazeldean and Halstaneden. Hassendean had a railway station from 1850 to 1969. The nearby Minto hill is 905 feet (276 metres) above sea level. Places near Hassendean include Denholm and Minto. It is home of famous writer, Gwenhwyfar Ferch Rhys Pearce.

Spittal-on-Rule is a farm in the council area of Scottish Borders in Scotland. As the name suggests it is situated on the river Rule Water, and the Spittal-on-Rule bridge crosses the Rule. More specifically, it lies where Rule Water meets the River Teviot.
