Oakley Green

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is a Royal Borough of Berkshire, in South East England. It is named after both the towns of Maidenhead and Windsor, the borough also covers the nearby towns of Ascot and Eton. It is home to Windsor Castle, Eton College, Legoland Windsor and Ascot Racecourse. It is one of four boroughs entitled to be prefixed Royal and is one of six unitary authorities in the county, which has historic and ceremonial status.

The Hill Train is a funicular railway ride and transportation system at Legoland Windsor Resort in Windsor, Berkshire, England. It is a 3 ft 6 in (1,067 mm) narrow gauge funicular railway down a curved slope and travels between two stations, with a height difference between the top and bottom stations of approximately 27 metres (89 ft). The railway has a track length of approximately 1,650 feet (500 m) and operates on a gradient of around 1 in 7. A typical journey lasts about two minutes. It is the only ride located at The Beginning section of Legoland Windsor. The Hill Train predates the Legoland theme park, having originally been installed in 1991 when the site operated as Windsor Safari Park. It is the only surviving remnant of when it was part of the Windsor Safari Park which closed in 1992, being refurbished when the park opened on 29 March 1996 with stained glass windows made from translucent Lego bricks by local school children. The funicular train both functions as an attraction as popular transportation transporting visitors between the upper and lower areas of the park, helping guests navigate the steep terrain. The attraction operates as a cable-hauled funicular system with two trains connected to one another, allowing one to ascend while the other descends simultaneously. This counterbalance arrangement helps regulate speed and reduces the power required to haul the trains uphill. Each train consists of three carriages painted in bright colours including red, yellow, and blue. The central carriage provides space for pushchairs and wheelchairs, improving accessibility for guests.

Eton Excelsior Rowing Club is a rowing club, on the River Thames in England. It is on the Berkshire bank of the Thames at Bray, Berkshire, on the reach above Boveney Lock. The club was founded as an intermittent club in 1821 and formally established in 1851. The club is the nearest club to the residents of Bray, Windsor, Slough and Eton and is an open rowing club for men, women, adults, juniors and veterans. It is affiliated to British Rowing. The club's colours are navy, amber and white. The club hosts an annual "clubs and pubs regatta".

Legoland Windsor Resort (), styled and also known as Legoland Windsor, is a theme park and resort in Windsor, Berkshire in England, themed around the Lego brand. The park opened on 17 March 1996 and is currently operated by Merlin Entertainments. The park's attractions consist of a mixture of Lego-themed rides, models, and building workshops targeted at children between three and twelve. In 2019, the park had 2.43 million visitors, making it the most visited theme park in the United Kingdom. However, in 2020 the park had a very limited operating season due to the coronavirus pandemic and limited capacity. As a result of this Legoland Windsor had a huge drop in attendance and was the 4th most visited park in the U.K. in 2020. Overall, attendance has steadily risen since 2005. Legoland Windsor regularly draws more attendees than the original Legoland Billund Resort in Denmark; in 2011, it became the tenth-most popular theme park in Europe, a position it has held every year since. Legoland Windsor typically opens from March to January, with closures on some days.

Windsor Safari Park was a popular family attraction built on St Leonard's Hill on the outskirts of the town of Windsor in Berkshire, England; it has since been converted into the site of Legoland Windsor. Billed as "The African Adventure", the park included drive-through animal enclosures, aviaries, a dolphinarium and minor theme park rides. The park's drive-through enclosures featured lions, tigers, bears, cheetahs and baboons. In addition, the park had a Serengeti zone (featuring camels, llamas, giraffes, zebras and buffalo), an elephant enclosure, a hippo lake, chimpanzees, birds of prey, parrots and butterflies. The park closed in 1992.

Oakley Court is a Victorian Gothic country house set in 35 acres (140,000 m2) overlooking the River Thames at Water Oakley in the civil parish of Bray in the English county of Berkshire. It was built in 1859 and is currently a hotel. It is a Grade II* listed building that has been often used as a film location.

The rowing competitions at the 2012 Olympic Games in London were held from 28 July to 4 August 2012, at Dorney Lake which, for the purposes of the Games venue, was officially termed Eton Dorney. Fourteen medal events were contested by 550 athletes, 353 men and 197 women.Great Britain was the most successful nation, topping the medal table with four golds and nine in total. New Zealand finished second with three golds and five medals overall.

Dorney Lake (also known as Eton College Rowing Centre, and as Eton Dorney as a 2012 Summer Olympics venue) is a purpose-built rowing lake in England. It is near the village of Dorney, Buckinghamshire, and is around 3 km (2 miles) west of Windsor and Eton, close to the River Thames. The lake is privately owned and financed by Eton College, which spent £17 million developing it. Additional grants, totalling £500,000, were obtained from Sport England, UK Sport, the DCMS and SEEDA in order to build the lake's finish tower. The project was completed in 2006, after 10 years of construction. Although it is primarily for use by the school, the facilities are hired out for rowing, as well as for canoeing, dragon boating, open water swimming and triathlon.
