Henry H. and Bettie S. Knight Farm is a historic farm and national historic district located near Knightdale, Wake County, North Carolina. The district encompasses six contributing buildings on a family farm located near Knightdale. The farmhouse was built around 1890, and is a 1 1/2-story, Queen Anne style frame dwelling with a cross-gable roof and a series of later additions and alterations. The other contributing buildings are the dairy (c. 1890), storage building (c. 1900), storage shed (c. 1900), and two barns (c. 1890 and c. 1900).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Beaver Dam is an antebellum plantation house located on the northern edge of present-day Knightdale, Wake County, North Carolina. The house was built around 1810 by Col. William Hinton, brother of Charles Lewis Hinton who built the nearby Midway Plantation. At its height, the Beaver Dam plantation encompassed around 4,000 acres (1,600 ha) tended by the forced labor of about 50 enslaved people.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.In 2005, the house was purchased by Hinton Land, LLC and underwent a 6-month restoration by Lambeth Restoration, HagerSmith Architects, Williams Realty and Building Company, John Stein Painting, Western Cedar Supply, and others.

Saint Matthew's Township (also designated Township 17) is one of twenty townships within Wake County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, Saint Matthew's Township had a population of 65,731, a 47.3% increase over 2000. Saint Matthew's Township, occupying 57.5 square miles (148.9 km2) in east-central Wake County, includes portions of the city of Raleigh and the entirety of the town of Knightdale.

Knightdale High School of Collaborative Design (KHSCD) is a public high school part of the Wake County Public School System located in Knightdale, North Carolina.

The Midway Plantation House and Outbuildings are a set of historic buildings constructed in the mid-19th century in present-day Knightdale, Wake County, North Carolina, as part of a forced-labor farm. The two-story plantation house was built in 1848 about 0.75 miles (1.21 km) west of present-day Knightdale, along the wagon trail that would eventually become U.S. Route 64. It was built by Charles Lewis Hinton, a farmer, slaver owner, and state treasurer, as a wedding gift for his son, David, and daughter-in-law, Mary Boddie Carr (sister of Governor Elias Carr). David and Mary's daughter, the anti-suffragist Mary Hilliard Hinton, was born here. It was named for its position halfway between two other Hinton family properties: Beaver Dam and The Oaks.Other structures on the site included a carriage house, kitchen, smokehouse, potato house, well house, ice house, cotton gin, loom house, doll house, office, school, two stables, and several slave quarters. Of these, only the kitchen, school, office, and carriage and doll houses remain. In June 2005, the house and surviving outbuildings were moved about 2 miles (3.2 km) north to make way for a large shopping center. The move and Hinton family history are documented by Hinton descendant and film critic Godfrey Cheshire in Moving Midway (2007).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Crabtree Creek is a tributary of the Neuse River in central Wake County, North Carolina, United States. The creek begins in the town of Cary and flows through Morrisville, William B. Umstead State Park, and the northern sections of Raleigh (roughly along I-440) before emptying into the Neuse at Anderson Point Park, a large city park located in East Raleigh.

Walnut Creek is a 17.93 mi (28.86 km) long 4th order tributary to the Neuse River in Wake County. Its source is a small pond near WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, and it flows generally eastward through several small reservoirs, including Lake Cramer in Cary as well as Lake Johnson and Lake Raleigh in Raleigh, before reaching its confluence with the Neuse just south of Poole Road in East Raleigh. The course of the creek closely parallels Interstate 40, running mostly along the north side of the freeway. The Walnut Creek Trail, a branch of the Capital Area Greenway, follows the length of Walnut Creek from Lake Johnson to its confluence, and is the second longest trail in the Greenway System. A large swampy wetland (which has been partially reclaimed by urban development), occupies the area around the last several miles of the creek; the Walnut Creek Wetland Center, operated by Raleigh Parks and Recreation, is dedicated to the study and preservation of the wetlands. The Coastal Credit Union Music Park, commonly known by its original name of Walnut Creek Amphitheater, is located near the wetland area near where the creek passes under the I-40/I-440 interchange.

Pine Hall, also known as the Jeremiah Dunn House and Julian Gregory House, is a historic home located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. It was built about 1841, and enlarged and remodeled in 1940–1941 in the Colonial Revival style. The original core is a two-story, frame I-house with a hipped roof over a raised basement. It features a two-story pedimented portico with massive Doric order columns. Identical side-gable, single-pile, one-story wings were added with the 1940-1941 renovation. Also on the property is a contributing garage (c. 1940–1941).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Shotwell is an unincorporated community in rural eastern Wake County, North Carolina, United States, located about 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Knightdale and 11 miles (18 km) east of Raleigh at the confluence of Smithfield, Mial Plantation, Major Slade, Grasshopper, and Turnipseed Roads. Shotwell has been inhabited since the early 19th century and is home to a number of historic structures. A post office was established in 1883 but closed less than two decades later.Oaky Grove was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Historic Oak View, also known as the Williams-Wyatt-Poole Farm, is a 19th-century historic farmstead and national historic district located east of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. Founded as a forced-labor farm worked by black people enslaved by the land's white owners, Oak View features an early 19th-century kitchen, 1855 farmhouse, livestock barn, cotton gin barn, and tenant house dating to the early 20th century. The Farm History Center located on site provides information to visitors regarding the history of the Oak View and the general history of farming in North Carolina. Aside from the historic buildings, the site also features an orchard, a honey bee hive, a small cotton field, and the largest pecan grove in Wake County.

The Walnut Hill Plantation cotton gin house was built in the mid to late 1840s by Alonzo T. Mial, a prominent planter and commission merchant in 19th century North Carolina. It is one of a few surviving cotton gin houses in the state, and is likely the only one to have retained the majority of its original ginning equipment.The gin house is a 2+1⁄2-story-tall, hand-hewn timber frame structure, approximately 36 feet (11 m) wide and 56 feet (17 m) deep. The frontmost two-thirds of the structure is supported by tall, 2 feet (0.61 m) thick granite ashlar pillars that form a square, open-air space on the ground floor in which the mule track and power shaft were located. The rear third of the gin house rests on short, granite rubble piers, and housed the ground-floor pressing and packaging rooms. Most of the ginning equipment resided on the second floor of the gin house. The third floor was used for storage of baled cotton. The gin was originally powered by two to four mules hitched to horizontal sweeps that turned the vertical power shaft. The power shaft was connected to a series of cog wheels that ultimately transferred power to the leather belt that drove the gin. In 1875, Mial replaced the mules with a 15-horsepower steam engine, which considerably increased the gin's production capacity. The gin house received a number of other upgrades as ginning technology progressed over the following fifty years. The Walnut Hill cotton gin ceased operation in the mid-1930s, shortly after the death of Millard Mial, Alonzo T. Mial's oldest son.

Oaky Grove is a historic house located in Shotwell, Wake County, North Carolina, a suburb of Raleigh. Built in 1818 by Thomas Price, Oaky Grove has been home to generations of the Price, Blake, and Doub families. Before the Civil War, the Price plantation consisted of 4,500 acres (1,800 ha) of farm land. Today, the 28-acre (11 ha) property is owned by the Doubs family and contains the two-story Federal style home, a smokehouse, barn, and the family cemetery.In September 1993, Oaky Grove was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
