Hillingdon

Bishopshalt School is a secondary school and sixth form with academy status based in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It has specialisations in music and the performing arts. Between 2013 and 2014, the school was used for scenes in the BBC sitcom Big School.

The Red Lion is a Grade II listed public house at Royal Lane, Hillingdon, London.According to English Heritage, it was probably built in the 16th century, and the timber-framed building was refronted in about 1800.The Red Lion has grown over the years and now the former Conifir Cafe is joined to the public house forming the Red Lion restaurant. The former Cottage Hotel is now the historic wing of the 55 bedroom hotel, a 45 bedroom block was added to the rear of the property in 2003. Many original features remain in the various buildings including original staircases, vaulted cellar, Tudor fireplaces and original beams. The public house was bought by Fuller, Smith and Turner in 1905

The Royal Air Force Sports Ground is a cricket ground in Uxbridge, situated behind RAF Uxbridge. The ground also goes by the name of Vine Lane, a nearby main road. It was first used in 1939 by the RAF. Teams such as the MCC, the Middlesex Cricket Board, the Army, Middlesex youth teams and the Combined Services have all played on the ground throughout its history. The ground has seen one first-class match, in 1964, between the Combined Services and Cambridge University.

Hillingdon Hospital is an NHS hospital in Pield Heath Road, Hillingdon, Greater London. It is one of two hospitals run by the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the other being Mount Vernon Hospital.

Abbotsfield School for Boys was an all-boys school in Hillingdon, West London. It closed on 20 July 2017, replaced on the site by the new co-ed Oak Wood School, which officially opened on 1 September 2017, under the same head teacher, Mark Bland.

Swakeleys School for Girls is a secondary school and sixth form for girls located in the Hillingdon area of the London Borough of Hillingdon, England. It is the only girls' school in the borough and used to share a site with Abbotsfield School for Boys in Clifton Gardens, until it was rebuilt in 2017, and reformed into the unisex Oak Wood School. After the closure of Abbotsfield School, Swakeleys School became the only single-sex school in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The school was converted to academy status on 1 April 2011 and was previously a Foundation School administered by Hillingdon London Borough Council. The school continues to coordinate with Hillingdon London Borough Council for admissions. The school offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils. while students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A Levels and further BTECs. Uxbridge was a seat returning one Member of Parliament (MP) of the House of Commons of the UK Parliament from 1885 to 2010. Its MPs elected were: Conservative Party candidates for 107 years and Labour Party candidates for 18 years. The closing 40 years of the seat's history saw Conservative victory — in 1997 on a very marginal majority in relative terms. The seat began with the market towns Uxbridge and Staines shedding the latter and its southern half in 1918; by 1945 more new seats were needed. Its eastern area merited Southall and the loss of Northolt to Ealing West (all new seats) and in 1950 of Ruislip, Northwood and Harefield to become Ruislip-Northwood and of Hayes and Harlington, taking up eastern territory and some of that lost in 1918. In each possible boundary reform the seat was reduced reflecting population expansion of areas outlying its core area of Uxbridge and interwoven Hillingdon, Cowley and Ickenham.

Hillingdon Court is a Grade II listed mansion in Hillingdon, within the London Borough of Hillingdon. Originally built in 1858 as the family home of the Mills family, the mansion has formed part of the ACS Hillingdon International School since 1978. Much of the remaining grounds came under public ownership in 1928 and have become public parkland and housing.

Oak Wood School (formerly Abbotsfield School for Boys) is a coeducational secondary school with a sixth form, in the London Borough of Hillingdon, England. The school was rated 'Good' in its most recent Ofsted inspection. It shares a site with the Swakeleys School for Girls.

The Battle of Britain Bunker is an underground operations room at RAF Uxbridge, formerly used by No. 11 Group Fighter Command during the Second World War. Fighter aircraft operations were controlled from there throughout the War but most notably during the Battle of Britain and on D-Day. Today it is run by Hillingdon Council as a heritage attraction with attached museum. The museum was opened in 1985, with an above ground visitor centre opened in March 2018. The Bunker is located at RAF Uxbridge, not far from Uxbridge town centre and Uxbridge Underground station.

Hillingdon House is a Grade II listed mansion in Hillingdon, Greater London. The original house was built in 1717 as a hunting lodge for the Duke of Schomberg. It was destroyed by fire and the present house was built in its place in 1844. The British Government purchased Hillingdon House in 1915 and it became a military hospital. In 1917, what would become the Royal Air Force station RAF Uxbridge was established within the grounds. In military use, the house has served over time as the first headquarters for No. 11 Group RAF and RAF Bomber Command. The River Pinn passes through the grounds of the house from north to south, splitting the former RAF Uxbridge in two. The Hillingdon House Farm estate to the north of the house includes the Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex (formerly Uxbridge Lido). The farm ceased operations in 1965 after the local council served a notice to quit on the tenant. The farmhouse on Honeycroft Hill became a council depot, followed by a plant nursery, before it was sold for residential housing.Under plans approved in early 2011 for the redevelopment of the RAF station, the house will be renovated and converted to include a restaurant. As of 2014 it is not accessible to the public while the site undergoes redevelopment.
