Duino Castle (Italian: Castello di Duino, German: Schloss Duino, Slovene: Grad Devin) is a fourteenth-century fortification located in Duino (municipality of Duino-Aurisina), near Trieste, Italy, on the cliffs overlooking the Gulf of Trieste. Building commenced in 1389 at the order of the Wallsee family. The ruins of an older castle built in the eleventh century by the Patriarch of Aquileia are located on the grounds. In the nineteenth century, it became one of two residences for Prince Alexander von Thurn und Taxis and his wife Princess Marie of the Czech branch of the House of Thurn und Taxis. While not the wealthiest of the Thurn und Taxis line, Alexander and Marie supported artists and writers, including Bohemian-Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke. While a guest of Princess Marie in early 1912, Rilke began to write his Duino Elegies, a collection of ten long, deeply philosophical and mystical poems which are considered to be his greatest work. Rilke dedicated his work to Princess Marie when they were completed in February 1922 and published the following year. Duino Castle remains property of the Thurn und Taxis family, and is owned by Prince Alexander and Princess Marie's great-grandson, Prince Carlo Alessandro della Torre e Tasso, Duke of Castel Duino. Most of the castle and its grounds have been opened to the public as a museum and park, while parts of the castle have housed the United World College of the Adriatic since 1982.

Buuri Constituency is an electoral constituency in Kenya. It is one of nine constituencies in Meru County. The constituency was split from North Imenti Constituency. It has an area of 69.21 km². Buuri Constituency contains five county assembly wards: Timau, Kisima, Kiirua/Naari, Ruiri/Rwarera and Kibirichia. Elijah Thuranira was the assembly member from Kibirichia, Martin Kimathi Muriungi is from Timau, Joy Karambu is from Kisima, Peter Kalembe was from Ruiri. Jennifer Makena Murogocho is the MCA Kiirua-Naari ward from 2022.

The Timavo River, known in Slovene as the Timava or Timav, is a two-kilometre stream in the Province of Trieste. It has four sources near San Giovanni (Slovene: Štivan) near Duino (Slovene: Devin) and outflows in the Gulf of Panzano (part of the Gulf of Trieste) 3 kilometres (2 mi) southeast of Monfalcone (Slovene: Tržič), Italy.

The United World College of the Adriatic (also known as UWC Adriatic, UWCAd, or in Italian, Collegio del Mondo Unito dell'Adriatico) is an international school in Italy, and a member of the United World Colleges, a global educational movement that brings together students from all over the world with the aim to foster peace and international understanding. The college is attended by around 180 students aged between 16 and 19, from around 80 countries, who live at the college for two years and study for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The college is located in the village of Duino, near the city of Trieste, in Italy's north-eastern region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, and is located less than 5 km from the Slovenian border. It was founded in 1982, with the support of the Italian government and regional authorities, who are still major financial supporters of the college.

The Eleventh Battle of the Isonzo was a World War I battle fought by the Italian and Austro-Hungarian Armies on the Italian Front between 18 August and 12 September 1917.

Duino (Slovene: Devin, German: Tybein) is today a seaside resort on the northern Adriatic coast. It is a hamlet of Duino-Aurisina, a municipality (comune) of the Friuli–Venezia Giulia region of northeastern Italy. The settlement, picturesquely situated on the steep Karst cliffs of the Gulf of Trieste, is known for Duino Castle, perpetuated by the poet Rainer Maria Rilke in his Duino Elegies.

The Duino Mithraeum is a Mithraeum located near Duino, in the province of Trieste, north-eastern Italy. Mithraea were places of worship for the followers of the Roman mystery religion known as the Mithraic Mysteries. Unlike most other Mithraea, the Duino Mithraeum is a natural cave, with its interior reshaped.

The Rilke trail (Italian: Sentiero Rilke, Slovene: Rilkejeva pešpot) is a tourist trail, providing a scenic view of the Gulf of Trieste. It is named after the poet Rainer Maria Rilke. It connects the villages of Duino and Sistiana, both in the municipality of Duino-Aurisina.

Monfalcone railway station (Italian: Stazione di Monfalcone) serves the town and comune of Monfalcone, in the autonomous region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northeastern Italy. Opened in 1860, the station is a junction between the Venice–Trieste railway and the Udine–Trieste railway. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. The train services are operated by Trenitalia. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company.

The Gulf of Trieste (Italian: Golfo di Trieste, Slovene: Tržaški zaliv, Croatian: Tršćanski zaljev, German: Golf von Triest) is a shallow bay of the Adriatic Sea, in the extreme northern part of the Adriatic Sea. It is part of the Gulf of Venice and is shared by Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. It is closed to the south by the peninsula of Istria, the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea, shared between Croatia and Slovenia. The entire Slovenian sea is part of the Gulf of Trieste.

The Valle Cavanata Nature Reserve (Italian: Riserva Naturale della Valle Cavanata) is a 327-hectare (810-acre) protected area situated in the easternmost part of the Grado Lagoon in Grado, Italy.

Staranzano (Friulian and Bisiacco: Staranzan; Slovene: Štarancan) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Gorizia in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Gorizia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 6,812 and an area of 18.7 square kilometres (7.2 sq mi).The municipality of Staranzano contains the frazioni (boroughs) of Alberoni, Bistrigna, Dobbia, Lido di Staranzano, Quarantia, Villaraspa, Le Coloschie, Bosco Grande, Bonifica del Broncolo and Punta Sdobba. Staranzano borders the following municipalities: Grado, Monfalcone, Ronchi dei Legionari, San Canzian d'Isonzo.
