Kilchrenan (Scottish Gaelic: Cill Chrèanain) is a small village in the Argyll and Bute area of Scotland. Kilchrenan is located near to the end of the B845 road, about 1 mile (1.6 km) inland from Loch Awe. It forms part of the area of Avich and Kilchrenan Community Council. The tomb of Colin More Campbell of Lochawe, who was killed at the Battle of Red Ford in 1294, can be seen in the churchyard of Kilchrenan. It is described as “a narrow old tomb with sculpture much defaced.”

The Battle of Red Ford or Battle of the String of Lorne took place in 1294 or else after September 1296 between Clan Campbell and Clan MacDougall in Lorne, Scotland. The battle was fought over disputed lands. It ended in defeat of the Clan Campbell of Lochawe. The battle was on the borders of Loch Awe and Lorne, with the site and battle named Red Ford (Scottish Gaelic: Ath Dearg) after the ford which ran red with blood where the battle took place.

Beochlich (the Living Stone) is the name of a hydro electric project (taken from the burn of the same name) to the south-east of Loch Awe, and 9 km north-west of Inveraray. The 6-metre high earth dam was built in 1998 and is owned by an ethical investment fund run by Triodos Bank.

Cruach Mhor is a 589 metres (1,932 ft) mountain in Argyll and Bute in Scotland.

The Falls of Cruachan derailment occurred on 6 June 2010 on the West Highland Line in Scotland, when a passenger train travelling between Glasgow and Oban hit boulders on the line and derailed near Falls of Cruachan railway station, after a landslide. There was a small fire (which was soon put out with fire extinguishers) and one carriage was left in a precarious position on the 50-foot-high (15-metre) embankment. Sixty passengers were evacuated, some with minor injuries; eight of those were hospitalised as a precaution. However, no people were killed. In addition to blocking the line, the incident also caused the closure of the A85 road below the rail line. Both road and rail were closed for a week.

The Awe Hydro-Electric Scheme was the penultimate scheme developed by the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board. It centres around Loch Awe, in Argyll and Bute, on the southern edge of the Scottish Highlands. It consists of three power stations, two conventional hydro-electric stations, and the Cruachan power station, the first large pumped storage scheme built by the Board. It was completed in 1965.

Falls of Cruachan railway station is a railway station located at the foot of Ben Cruachan in Scotland. This station is on the Oban branch of the West Highland Line, originally part of the Callander and Oban Railway. It is sited between Taynuilt and Loch Awe, sited 52 miles 69 chains (85.1 km) from Callander via Glen Ogle. ScotRail manage the station and operate all services.

Ardanaiseig (Scottish Gaelic: Àird an Aiseig) is a settlement on Loch Awe, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Loch Awe is one of Scotland's longest freshwater lochs. The Ardanaiseig Hotel, a historic country house, has been converted into a luxury hotel.

Cladich (Scottish Gaelic: An Cladach) is a scattered settlement in Argyll, Scotland. Cladich lies on the B840 road just to the west of its junction with the main A819.

The Chapel of St Fyndoca (alternate: Fyndoc, or Findoc) is located on the island of Inishail in Loch Awe, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It was the parish church of the parish of Inishail, which included some of the adjacent islands, as well as part of the mainland on each side of the loch. The church is recorded in the mid-13th century, but fell out of use in the 18th century. It is now a ruin, surrounded by a graveyard which contains medieval carved slabs and post-reformation gravestones. The parish is now served by Glenorchy Parish Church at Dalmally. The remains of the chapel and burial ground are protected as a scheduled monument.

Inishail (alternate Inchald) is an island and former parish, in Loch Awe, Scotland.
