Arbury

Chesterton Community College is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in Chesterton, Cambridge, in the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It was established in 1935 as two separate schools for boys and girls, which merged in 1974 to form a mixed comprehensive school and adult centre. Chesterton was granted Community College status in 1983, and became an academy in 2011.

Histon Road is a 0.6-hectare (1.5-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Cambridge. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.Histon Road is described by Natural England as a "key Pleistocene stratigraphic site". It is one of only two sites in East Anglia which has an almost complete sequence of the second half of the warm Eemian interglacial, around 120,000 years ago. There are many deposits of molluscs and pollen.The site has been filled in and is now allotments. There is no public access.

Victoria Road is a residential road in the north of Cambridge, England. The road is designated the A1134. At the western end, the road links with Histon Road (B1049, leading north out of Cambridge towards the large village of Histon, on the other side of the A14), Huntingdon Road (A1307, leading northwest out of the city to link with the M11 motorway), Mount Pleasant, and Castle Street.In 1950, there were plans to improve this junction, but they never came to fruition. At the eastern end it links with Chesterton Road (A1303) and also links to Milton Road, the A1134, then A1309, northeast out of the city, also linking with the A14. St Luke's Church is on the north side of road. St Luke's is a Victorian building. The church community has been enlarged by combining the United Reformed Church and the Church of England congregations as a Local Ecumenical Partnership. The building has been renovated extensively during the last 15 years and includes four rooms available for use by the local community as well as the church itself.

Histon Road is an arterial road linking central Cambridge, England with the A14 road north of the city. The road is designated the B1049. At the southern end, the road links with Huntingdon Road (A1307), Victoria Road (A1134), Mount Pleasant, and Castle Street. At the northern end of the road it continues just south of the A14 as Cambridge road into the village of Impington. Much of the housing on the road dates from the 1930s. For example, Langham House, a block of flats, is typical of the era.Near the southern end to the west is the Histon Road Recreation Ground. On the opposite side of the road to the East was Simons House, a retirement home. It was built in 1977 to a design by the architects Darbourne & Darke, and demolished in 2009 to make way for senior citizens' flats.Just south of the junction with King's Hedges Road to the east near the northern end are the Histon Road Allotments. On the west side of the road is Impington Farm. North of Histon and south of the village of Cottenham, the B1049 is also known as Histon Road.

The City Ground (also known as Milton Road) was a football stadium and greyhound racing track, in Cambridge, England. It was the home of Southern League Premier Division club Cambridge City F.C.

Histon Road Cemetery, formerly Cambridge General Cemetery, is a cemetery in north Cambridge, England, lying off Histon Road, opened in 1842. It is notable as one of only three designs by John Claudius Loudon, who covers it in detail in his influential book On the Laying Out, Planting and Managing of Cemeteries (1843); the other cemeteries associated with Loudon are Bath Abbey Cemetery, and Southampton Old Cemetery (where his plan was rejected). These experiences of practical planning directly affected Loudon's writing on the subject.

Orchard Park, previously known as Premier Park and before that Arbury Park, is a district and civil parish of South Cambridgeshire, England, contiguous with the city of Cambridge. Previously agricultural land and the site of Premier Park a huge estate for Premier Travel who amongst other things was a main National Express operator with housing for its drivers. the area is currently an extensive housing estate with additional development continuing on adjacent land.

Shire Hall is a former municipal building in Castle Hill in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. It was the headquarters of Cambridgeshire County Council from 1932 until 2021, when the council moved to New Shire Hall at Alconbury Weald, some 23 miles from Cambridge.

Chesterton Road (part of the A1303) is a road in the north of Cambridge, England.In October 2000, archaeologists excavating a sewerage shaft at the corner of Chesterton Lane and Magdalene Street discovered a collection of 13th- and 14th-century coins. Lying in the remains of a disintegrated wooden box, on the site of what was once a house, the hoard totalled 1,805 silver pennies and nine gold coins.

Duroliponte or Durolipons was a small town in the Roman province of Britannia on the site of what is now the city of Cambridge.The site of Roman Cambridge is located on Castle Hill, just northwest of the city centre. The fort (Latin: castrum) was bounded on two sides by the lines formed by the present Mount Pleasant, continuing across Huntingdon Road into Clare Street. The eastern side followed Magrath Avenue, with the southern side running near to Chesterton Lane and Kettle's Yard before turning northwest at Honey Hill.It was originally an Iron Age hillfort in which the Romans may have constructed a small military station about AD 70. The settlement seems to have become civilian in nature around fifty years later. Most of the buildings discovered so far were of timber construction. They had both tiled and thatched roofs and some had painted plaster internal walls. Only one stone building has been located. The town went into decline during the 3rd century, but expanded after its walled defences were put in place a hundred years later. There were four gates and a cemetery to the south. Occupation seems to have continued until the Roman departure from Britain around 410, but it has been identified as the Cair Grauth listed among the 28 cities of Britain by the History of the Britons and the invading Saxons had begun occupying the area by the end of the century.The settlement was served by the River Cam (then still known as the Granta) and two Roman roads: Akeman Street ran from Ermine Street north east through Cambridge to The Fens and the Via Devana ran northwest through the town on its way to Godmanchester.

Jesus Lock is a lock on the River Cam in the north of central Cambridge, England. This is Lock No. 1 on the navigable portion of the River Cam. It was built in 1836 and is the only lock in the city. Jesus Green Lock Cottage, the former lock-keeper's cottage, is by the lock on Jesus Green. It is owned by the Conservators of the River Cam and is rented out to students.The lock is located north of Jesus Green, which itself is north of Jesus College, hence the name. To the north of Jesus Lock is Chesterton Road (the A1303). To the east (downstream) is Victoria Avenue Bridge on Victoria Avenue and beyond that Midsummer Common, common land still used for grazing. Close by just downstream is Jesus Green Swimming Pool, a very long outdoor lido.The stretch of river northeast (downstream) of Jesus Lock is sometimes called the lower river. The stretch between Jesus Lock and Baits Bite Lock is much used for rowing. There are also many residential boats on this stretch, their occupants forming a community who call themselves the Camboaters. The stretch above Jesus Lock is sometimes known as the middle river.

Castle Hill in Cambridge, England, is located in the Castle ward of the city. Cambridgeshire County Council's former headquarters, Shire Hall, are located directly adjacent to Castle Hill.
