Ansells End

Bendish is a hamlet located in the parish of St Paul's Walden in Hertfordshire. In the 18th century, Bendish was a small town. It is about 3 miles east of Luton, 5 miles south of Hitchin and 4.5 miles north of Harpenden. Many services such as the grocers, the 3 pubs and the Church have all closed. Bendish is not a nucleated hamlet, due to the effects of rural to urban migration through the unemployment of residents as of the result of mechanisation. Farmers' houses were knocked down, leading to the somewhat staggered placing of the current houses today. There is no longer an active telephone box, but a post box is still in operation.

King's Walden is a civil parish in the English county of Hertfordshire. The name includes an apostrophe, but this is often omitted. The main settlement is now Breachwood Green, and there are also the hamlets of King's Walden, Ley Green, Darleyhall, Lye Hill, Wandon End, Wandon Green and Winch Hill. At the south of the parish there is Lawrence End Park.

Kimpton is a village in Hertfordshire, England, six miles south of Hitchin, seven miles north of St Albans and four miles from Harpenden and Luton. The population at the 2011 Census was 2,167.

Marshalls Heath is a hamlet and a 4-hectare (10-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Wheathampstead parish, Hertfordshire, England. The nature reserve is owned by Wheathampstead Parish Council and managed by the council together with the Friends of Marshalls Heath. It was purchased from The Queen's College, Oxford, in 1966.The site is acid heath on both sides of Marshalls Heath Lane. It is secondary woodland and scrub, but the many species recorded include forty on national lists of threatened species. Yellow hill ants are very common, and it is one of the key Hertfordshire sites for butterflies and moths. The site was managed by the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust between 1972 and 1993, when the council terminated the agreement with the trust.

Chiltern Green is a hamlet located in Bedfordshire, England, next to the border with Hertfordshire. It is in the civil parish of Hyde. The settlement lent its name to Chiltern Green railway station, which was located in nearby New Mill End. The railway station closed in 1952. Today London Luton Airport is located to the north west of Chiltern Green.

Whitwell is a village in the parish of St Paul's Walden about six miles south of Hitchin in Hertfordshire, England. Situated on a tableland, a spur of the Chilterns, Whitwell is about 122m (400 feet) above sea level. The soil is mostly clay with flints. It contains a number of early brick and half-timbered houses, several of which are of the 18th century. Waterhall Farm (an open farm and craft centre) is one of the village's attractions. With the River Mimram running north-west to south-east through Whitwell, the village has been noted (apparently since Roman times) for its production of prime watercress. In 2019, construction began on a new housing development named The Heath, located on Bendish Lane opposite St. paul’s Walden School. It opened in summer 2020, with the new road named ‘Chime Dell’ after a field formerly located on the site.

Batford Springs is a 3.5-hectare (8.6-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Harpenden in Hertfordshire. It is owned and managed by Harpenden Town Council, and most work on the site is undertaken by the Batford Springs Volunteers. The declaring authority is St Albans City Council.The main feature of the reserve is a number of small springs which are the source of chalk streams and ponds. The River Lea runs through the site, and there is grassland and a small wood. In January 2015 the site was extended by the purchase of land between Marquis Lane and Piggotshill Lane. There is also a children's area. Wildlife includes kingfishers and a variety of fish species in the river, including roach, barbel and a substantial population of chub. Batford Springs acts as a key nursery location for fish downstream all the way to Brocket Hall, where fish movement is severely impeded by man-made obstacles. The next fish nursery is the River Lea adjacent to the North Lake at Stanborough Park.There is access from the north end of Station Road.

Harpenden East was one of two stations serving the town of Harpenden, the other station which remains open being Harpenden Central. Originally named Harpenden, the East suffix was added in 1950 to distinguish it from the Midland Railway station.

Batford is a village in Hertfordshire, England, located on the River Lea on the outskirts of Harpenden. Batford Springs is a local nature reserve alongside the river and the village green, which has a small play area for children. The large red brick building at the southern end of the village between the river and the Lower Luton Road was originally a water mill. It is now used as offices, and the river has been diverted around the building. Batford Methodist Church built in 1905 and shows the distinctive "modern" architecture of that time. During World War II a large prisoner of war camp was located in Batford, adjoining what is now Common Lane, and prisoners were present there until about 1947. When they had gone, the camp buildings were used to house local people who were waiting for housing, which was in short supply at the time. Within a few years, a large housing estate was built on the site of the POW camp by the local authority. Batford has a Tesco Express/filling station, a Co-op supermarket, a fish and chip shop, two pubs, an Indian takeaway, and various other shops and small factory units. It is in the civil parish of Harpenden.

Breachwood Green Mill is a Grade II listed tower mill at King's Walden, Hertfordshire, England which has been converted to residential accommodation.

Sir John Lawes School (also known as SJL) is a mixed state secondary school with academy status in Harpenden, United Kingdom. The school has close links to two other local secondary schools, Roundwood Park School and St George's School, and to the neighbouring Manland Primary School, and is active in the community and abroad.
