Pound Ridge, New York

Pound Ridge Historic District is a national historic district located at Pound Ridge, Westchester County, New York. The district contains 46 contributing buildings and encompasses almost all of the hamlet. The majority of the buildings in the district date between 1780 and 1852. The earliest building was built in 1758 and is the Capt. Joseph Lockwood House (only four families have lived in it since Joseph Lockwood build it). Notable buildings include: Methodist Episcopal (Community) Church (1833), Patterson Memorial Presbyterian Church (conant Hall, 1893), Presbyterian Lecture Hall (Pound Ridge Town Hall, 1852), Parker Store (1906), Pound Ridge Village School (Hiram Halle Memorial Library, 1851), Aaron Wood's Mill (ca. 1800), Partridge Thatcher House (1788), Maj. Ebenezer Lockwood House (ca. 1780), Alsop Hunt Lockwood House (1840), and Solomon Lockwood House (ca. 1800).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Pound Ridge massacre was a battle of Kieft's War that took place in March 1644 between the forces of New Netherland and members of the Wappinger Confederacy at a village of its members in the present-day town of Pound Ridge, New York. A mixed force of 130 New Netherland soldiers led by Captain John Underhill launched a night attack on the village and destroyed it with fire. 500 to 700 members of the Wappinger Confederacy were killed while the New Netherland force lost one man killed and fifteen wounded. More casualties were suffered in this attack than in any other single incident in the war. Shortly after the battle several local Wappinger Confederacy sachems sued for peace.

The Pound Ridge Golf Club is an 18-hole, public golf facility designed by World Golf Hall of Fame designer Pete Dye in Pound Ridge, New York. It features 7,165 yards of course from the back tees. The course is a par of 72 and is on 172 acres (0.70 km2). It is Pete Dye's first and only design project in New York. The course was built at an estimated cost of $40 million by Kenneth Wang, brother of American fashion designer Vera Wang, and the current owner of the U.S. Summit Company. It was listed as the second best of Links Magazine's Best New Public Courses of 2008.

Scotts Corners is a hamlet (and census-designated place or CDP) located in the town of Pound Ridge in Westchester County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the CDP population was 711, making Scotts Corners Westchester County's smallest census-recognized area.Scotts Corners is near the southern town line (the border of Connecticut), east of Sarles Corners.

The Booth House is a single-story modernist house in Bedford, New York. Built in 1946, the house was American architect Philip Johnson's first residential commission, and is a stylistic precursor to Johnson's better-known 1949 Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut.The house's concrete block and plate glass exterior is supported by steel beams and columns, and its interior features a large masonry fireplace. Its design was influenced by Johnson's mentors. Landis Gores described the house as a "cross-breed in concrete block between [Johnson's] Lincoln project for [Professor] Bogner and [Le Corbusier's] De Mandrot house from which it had taken its origin: a raised podium."Johnson designed the house for Richard and Olga Booth, a young couple who wanted a weekend house near Manhattan. Architectural photographer Robert Damora and architect Sirkka Damora purchased the house in 1955 for $23,500 and lived there for 55 years. In 2010, the widowed Sirkka Damora put the 1,440-square-foot (134 m2) house, an 800-square-foot (74 m2) studio building, and their 1.92-acre (0.78 ha) lot up for sale, with an asking price of $2 million.

Palmer–Lewis Estate is a historic estate and national historic district located at Bedford, Westchester County, New York. The district contains 12 contributing buildings, one contributing site, and four contributing structures. It includes the main house, 15 farm-related outbuildings, and landscape features such as stone walls, walled fields, the remains of an orchard and vegetable garden, a barnyard complex, and the ruins of a dairy barn. The main house is a late 18th-century residence redesigned about 1860 in the Italianate style.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The Mianus River Gorge is a 935-acre (3.78 km2) nature preserve in Bedford, New York jointly owned by The Nature Conservancy and Mianus River Gorge, Inc.. The first 60 acres (0.24 km2) were purchased by the Preserve, with help from the Conservancy, their first land preservation deal. It has grown over the years and is still managed by Mianus River Gorge, Inc. In March 1964, it was designated a National Natural Landmark for its old growth climax hemlock forest and the gorge of the Mianus River.

The Long Ridge Village Historic District is a historic district in the city of Stamford, Connecticut. The district, located in rural northern Stamford near the border with New York, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Although the district includes a few early 19th-century properties, the area was most heavily developed between 1850 and 1920, and was a local center of shoe manufacturing until it was bypassed by railroads, sending the business nearer to downtown Stamford. The district extends along Old Long Ridge Road, and includes several property on adjacent Rock Rimmon Road. Osborn–Bouton–Mead House is a historic home located at South Salem, Westchester County, New York. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Bedford Village Historic District is a national historic district in Bedford, Westchester County, New York. The district contains 80 contributing buildings and one contributing site. It encompasses most of the original 1680 hamlet and is laid out in a typical village green plan. Notable buildings include the court house (1787), library (1807), school house (1829), post office (c. 1838), and Presbyterian church (1872). The buildings are good examples of the Greek Revival and Gothic Revival styles. Two of the buildings are now museums.

The Bedford Presbyterian Church is a parish church in Bedford, Westchester County, New York. The current structure was built in 1872 in the Gothic Revival style, as the fourth building for the congregation on the site. The historic building is part of the Bedford Village Historic District, and was listed in 1973. It also serves as a venue for performances of sacred music.

Bedford is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in the town of Bedford in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 1,834 at the 2010 census.
