Witherby Publishing Group, formerly known as Witherby Seamanship, is a technical publisher of maritime, nautical and navigation training, reference and regulatory materials. The company is the resulting merger of Witherby Books and Seamanship International in January 2008. Beginning with its origins in 1740 it lays claim to being the oldest independent publisher in the English-speaking world.Witherbys are the official electronic distributors for the International Maritime Organization and publish guidance titles with numerous shipping bodies and maritime NGOs. These include the International Chamber of Shipping, the UK Chamber of Shipping, BIMCO, OCIMF, SIGTTO, North P&I, the UK P&I Club, the International Association of Classification Societies, the Merchant Navy Training Board and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST). Witherbys are an official distributor of INTERTANKO publications.The company holds working groups, which include specialist consultants from relevant sectors, as well as in-house technical advisors, authors and editors, to produce their publications.

The Scottish Institute of Theatre, Dance, Film and Television is a specialist prviate educational college and institute of further education in Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland. The institute has received funding from West Lothian Council, Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government. The institute is associated with Silver Rock Film Studios in Ireland. The Principal of the institute is Mark Langley, who was appointed in May 2024. The institute is only school in Scotland accredited by the Council for Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre (CDMT). The Institute manages Howden Park Theatre, a performance space with a 300-seater auditorium in Livingston.

Bellsquarry is a suburban area located in the south-west of Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland. Bellsquarry is located to the west of the Murieston area of the town and to the south of the Dedridge area of the town. The Brucefield industrial estate lies on its western edge.

Newpark railway station was a railway station serving Newpark near Bellsquarry in West Lothian, then called Linlithgowshire. It was on the Cleland and Midcalder Line between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Trains on the Shotts Line still pass through the site of the former station.

Kirkton (Scots: Kirktoun) is a small area in the north-west of Livingston in West Lothian, Scotland. The area is mainly occupied by an industrial estate, as well as by some residential housing areas. The Killandean burn, a small stream runs through the area.

West Lothian College (Scottish Gaelic: Colaiste Lodainn an Iar) is a further and higher education institution in Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland. The Principal of the college is Jackie Galbraith, who was previously Vice-Principal at Ayrshire College.

Dedridge is an area in the town of Livingston in West Lothian, Scotland. It is located in the south of the town, just south of the Almondvale area, and north of the Murieston area. The area's streets are named after parts, events or characters from the plays of Sir Walter Scott; with the suffix 'Rise' being appended to give street names such as Clement Rise, Crusader Rise and Ivanhoe Rise.

Livingston Designer Outlet is the largest outlet mall in Scotland, and opened in October 2000 under the ownership of McArthur Glen as McArthur Glen Livingston Designer Outlet and sits opposite the popular The Centre (Livingston) shopping centre. The glass roof reminiscent of the Crystal Palace was designed by an architect called Don Hisaka. In August 2013 the complex was renamed to 'Livingston Designer Outlet' as the site was sold to LaSalle Investment Management. It is currently undergoing a huge makeover in which the company has invested several million pounds.

Livingston Football Club is a Scottish professional football club based in Livingston, West Lothian. Livingston currently play in the Scottish Premiership and were founded in 1943 as Ferranti Thistle, a works team. The club was admitted to the Scottish Football League and renamed as Meadowbank Thistle in 1974, and played its matches at Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh. In 1995, the club was relocated to Livingston, West Lothian and renamed after the town. Since then Livingston have played their home games at Almondvale Stadium. In the ten years following the move to Livingston the club enjoyed notable success, winning promotion to the Scottish Premier League in 2001, qualifying for the UEFA Cup in its maiden season in the top flight (finishing third behind Celtic and Rangers) and winning the 2004 Scottish League Cup. However, the club hit financial problems in 2004, and was relegated to the Scottish First Division in 2006. In July 2009 the club faced further financial problems and were on the verge of suffering a liquidation event before a deal was struck. Livingston were subsequently demoted to the Scottish Third Division, but the club achieved consecutive promotions and went on to regain its place in the top tier after winning the 2017–18 Scottish Premiership play-offs.

River FM was a radio station serving West Lothian, Scotland. The radio station was based at Livingston FC's stadium in the centre of the town. It played a range of hit music and older classics. Despite the limited area officially covered, it could sometimes be picked up as far away as Kilmarnock, Dundee and Stirling.

Almondvale Stadium, also known as the Tony Macaroni Arena for sponsorship purposes, but most commonly referred to as ‘The Spaghettihad’ (alluding to the Etihad Stadium), is a football stadium, located in the Almondvale area of Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland. It has been the home ground of Scottish Premiership club Livingston since 1995, and has an all-seater capacity of 9,512.

The James Young High School is a secondary school in Dedridge, Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland. The school opened in 1982 and was named after James Young, who patented the process of extracting oil from coal and shale. James Young High is a coeducational state school which has over 1100 pupils. The headteacher was Christopher Horne until the 2012–2013 school year when he retired and was replaced by Catrina Hatch. In 2018 she was then replaced by the previous Depute Head teacher P Gallacher. She is assisted by her Depute Headteachers G Hope, C McTiernan and A McKeown. There are also 7 PTCs for Curriculum and 4 PTCs for Pupil Support. The school uniform consists of a white shirt with purple tie and optional jumper.
