Splish Splash is a 96-acre (390,000 m2) water park located in Calverton, New York. It has 30 rides and is open for visitors from May to September. Travel Channel ranked Splish Splash as the third-best water park in the United States in the year 2009.

Calverton was a station stop along the Greenport Branch of the Long Island Rail Road in Calverton, New York. The station was built in 1880 and closed in 1981.

Long Island Spirits is a microdistillery in Baiting Hollow, New York. Founded in 2007, it is the first craft distillery on Long Island since the 1800s. Surrounded by 5,000 acres of potato farms, Long Island Spirits is a full farm-to-bottle hand craft distillery operation.

Baiting Hollow is a census-designated place (CDP) roughly corresponding to the hamlet by the same name in the Town of Riverhead in Suffolk County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The CDP's population was 1,642 at the 2010 census.

American Airlines Flight 514 was a training flight from Idlewild International Airport, to the Grumman Aircraft Corp. airfield. On the afternoon of August 15, 1959, the Boeing 707 operating the flight crashed near the Calverton airport, killing all five crew members aboard. This was the first accident to involve a Boeing 707, which had only gone into service in October of the previous year, and the first of three accidents involving American's 707s in the New York area within three years.

The Peconic River is a river within Suffolk County on Long Island, New York. The river is located in the eastern end of Long Island. The Peconic River drains an area between the Harbor Hill Moraine and flows into Flanders Bay, which in turn connects to Peconic Bay east of Riverhead. The river originates in bogs and wetlands in central Long Island near the Brookhaven National Laboratory and flows eastward to the Peconic Bay. It is the longest river on Long Island and is almost entirely within the Central Long Island Pine Barrens which was set up in 1993 to protect its relative wilderness standing. It is fresh water until about the center of Riverhead where it becomes an estuary. The river is slow-moving, making it ideal for canoeing and kayaking. It forms the border between Brookhaven and Riverhead towns as well as the border between Riverhead and Southampton.

Calverton Executive Airpark (IATA: CTO, FAA LID: 3C8, formerly CTO) also known as Peconic River Airport and Enterprise Park at Calverton (EPCAL) was a public-owned private-use airport located three miles (5 km) west of the central business district of the Calverton hamlet, in the Town of Riverhead, Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is owned by the Town of Riverhead.It was formerly the Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant, Calverton which was owned by the United States Navy and used to assemble, test, refit and retrofit jets built by the Grumman Corporation on Long Island. The airport covers an area of 2,921 acres (1,182 ha) which contains two asphalt and concrete runways: 14/32 measuring 10,000 by 200 feet (3,048 m × 61 m) and 5/23 measuring 7,000 by 200 feet (2,134 m × 61 m). The airport was lightly used for air traffic in lieu of the nearby Francis S. Gabreski Airport. Its last remaining air client, Skydive Long Island, relocated to Brookhaven Calabro Airport in 2015.In 2021, The Town Board of Riverhead approved the airport to be the venue of Division 1 National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) drag racing events. The airport held inaugural NHRA drag racing events in Summer 2021.

Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant, Calverton (NWIRP) was a government-owned, contractor-operated (GOCO) facility which had the mission of designing, fabricating, and testing prototype aircraft from 1956 until 1996, in Riverhead, New York, United States.

Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School (formerly Mercy High School) was a Roman Catholic high school in Riverhead, New York on Long Island. It was operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre. The Diocese closed the school in 2018.

Wildwood Lake is a natural lake located in Suffolk County on Long Island in Northampton near Riverhead, New York, United States. The lake was formed by glaciers during the last Ice age. There is a variety of fish species present in the lake, including: Largemouth Bass Chain Pickerel Pumpkinseed Yellow Perch White Perch Brown bullhead Rock BassThe lake is also stocked with Trout by the Town of Southampton.Fishing in Wildwood Lake is limited to Southampton residents or persons accompanied by a resident guide only. There is a state DEC access ramp for small hand- or electric-powered craft, but fishing is limited, as stated above. It is said that there was once a road crossing through the middle of the lake, but it has never been proven.
