Malverne, New York

Malverne is a historic railroad station along the West Hempstead Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. It is officially located at Hempstead Avenue and Utterby Road, in Malverne, New York, and is also parallel to Church Street near Malverne Village Hall. Parking is primarily for those with residential and non-residential permits, but metered parking is available.

North Lynbrook is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 793 at the 2010 census.

Malverne Park Oaks is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 505 at the 2010 census. The CDP was first created for the 2000 census.

Westwood is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's West Hempstead Branch serving the villages of Malverne and Lynbrook, New York. The station platform is located on Foster Avenue in Malverne, with parking facilities on both the Malverne (Foster Avenue at Motley Street) and Lynbrook (Whitehall Street at Whittier Street) sides of the tracks. It has no station building other than a pair of open shelters, the larger one on the Malverne side of the tracks. It also features a gated at-grade pedestrian crossing, one of only a few stations on the Long Island Rail Road to feature such crossings. No buses connect to Westwood station, however local suburban taxi cabs do stop there. A basketball court can be found on the Malverne side of the station between the platform and parking lot.

House at 73 Grove Street is a historic home located at Lynbrook in Nassau County, New York. It was built about 1840 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, clapboard-sided dwelling with a side-gabled roof. It was originally one room deep and two rooms wide, but expanded to two rooms deep in the 1930s. It has a two-story rear extension. It features a three-bay, single-story Colonial Revival style porch with four square support posts.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Valley Stream North High School (VSNHS) is a combined public junior and senior high school located in the hamlet of Franklin Square, New York in southwest Nassau County on Long Island. Valley Stream North High School is one of three high schools in the Valley Stream Central High School District. Like Valley Stream South High School, Valley Stream North High School is a combined junior-senior high school that educates grades seven through twelve. Students who attend Valley Stream North High School are mainly graduates of the local Franklin Square, North Valley Stream, and Elmont elementary schools, including Willow Road Elementary School, James A. Dever Elementary School, and Howell Road Elementary School. Students who attend Valley Stream North High School reside in either Franklin Square, Malverne, North Valley Stream, or Elmont. Valley Stream North High School is known to the local population simply as "North." As of the 2014–15 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,281 students and 95.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.4:1. There were 178 students (13.9% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 43 (3.4% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

The hospital has 337 beds and is affiliated the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. The hospital is a member of Northwell Health.

Lakeview is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 6,077 at the 2020 census.

Lynbrook is a Long Island Rail Road commuter train station in Lynbrook, New York. The station is located at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Peninsula Boulevard and is located on the railroad's Montauk Branch line, though it is served by Long Beach Branch trains and select weekday Babylon Branch trains. The station is elevated and is wheelchair accessible through elevator access. Long Beach Branch and Babylon Branch trains stop there hourly (every 30 minutes when combined) on an alternating basis during off-peak hours. Peak service is about every 20 minutes or less. Late night service is every two hours.

Rockville Cemetery and Bristol and Mexico Monument is a historic cemetery located at Lynbrook in Nassau County, New York. The cemetery started as a small local burial ground in 1799. It subsequently came to be the final resting place of many early Near Rockaway settlers. The cemetery features a monument to two nearby shipwrecks, the Bristol and the Mexico, in the winter of 1836–1837. The Bristol and Mexico Monument marks the mass grave of the 139 passengers, mostly Irish immigrants fleeing famine. The shipwrecks resulted in changes to New York Harbor approach practices.In 1953, a 20-year-old Ruth Bader wrote an article in New York Folklore Quarterly about the memorial. She described the poor condition of the memorial at the time, and the very negative opinion of the memorial from Nathaniel Prime, author of History of Long Island, which was published five years after the memorial was completed. She also included a brief history of the ships’ voyages from Liverpool in October 1836, and their losses off of Long Island in late November 1836 and early January 1837. The monument was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.
