Hewlett, New York

George W. Hewlett High School (also known as Hewlett High School, or HHS, and replacing Woodmere High School) is a four-year public high school in Hewlett Bay Park, New York, United States. Located in the Five Towns area of Long Island, it is the only high school in the Hewlett-Woodmere Union Free School District (District 14).

Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls is a Modern Orthodox Jewish day school, a college preparatory high school for grades 9-12, located in Hewlett Bay Park in Nassau County, New York, United States. The school is part of the Hebrew Academy of Long Beach which purchased the former Lawrence Country Day School 9.2-acre (37,000 m2) campus in 1992 for $2.2 million. Academics at the school focuses both on the Limudei Kodesh (Torah studies) curriculum and in secular non-Jewish studies. The school is accredited by the New York State Board of Regents and has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools since 1999. It was renamed for longtime resident Stella K. Abraham in 1994.

Hewlett Bay Park is a village in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 404 at the 2010 census. The area, like Back/Old Lawrence is unique because its rural affluence is similar in character to the more well known Gold Coast of the North Shore instead of being more urbanized like the rest of the South Shore of Nassau County. Hewlett Bay Park is usually included as one of the Five Towns in the southwestern corner of Nassau County. In the context of the Five Towns, "The Hewletts" or "Hewlett" is often used to refer collectively to the hamlet of Hewlett, together with the villages of Hewlett Bay Park, Hewlett Harbor and Hewlett Neck. The Five Towns is usually said to comprise the villages of Lawrence and Cedarhurst, the hamlets of Woodmere and Inwood, and "The Hewletts", along with Woodsburgh.

In 2004, it was awarded the New York Sports Writers Association Golf Club of the year. The club is located at 1300 Club Drive in Hewlett Harbor in Nassau County, Long Island, New York. It is on the south shore and borders an inlet of Hewlett Bay. The club's name originates from the word "sewan," beads used as wampum by American Indians.

Gibson is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Far Rockaway Branch in the Gibson section of Valley Stream, in Nassau County, New York. The station is at Gibson Boulevard and Munro Boulevard, south of Sunrise Highway, and is 18.6 miles (29.9 km) from Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan. Built in May 1928, it's the second newest station on the Far Rockaway Branch. The residential area surrounding the train station divides the Valley Stream and Hewlett-Woodmere School districts. Those residing North of Munro Boulevard and Dubois Avenue are a part of the Valley Stream public education system, while those residing south of Munro and Dubois are a part of the Hewlett-Woodmere public education system.

Yeshiva of South Shore (YOSS) is an American Orthodox boys' and men's yeshiva in Long Island that was opened at a time when the area had no yeshivos, and subsequently expanded to being in need of renting unused public school space. In part, this was due to growth of the local Orthodox Jewish population: The New York Times reported that 90% of those newly moving in were Orthodox Jews.

Hewlett Neck is a village in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 445 at the time of the 2010 census. The Incorporated Village of Hewlett Neck is included in the Five Towns, which is usually said to comprise the villages of Lawrence and Cedarhurst, as well as the hamlets of Woodmere, Inwood, and "The Hewletts," which consist of the villages of Hewlett Bay Park, Hewlett Harbor, Hewlett Neck, and Woodsburgh, and the unincorporated hamlet of Hewlett.

Lawrence Woodmere Academy, also known as "LWA", and "Woodmere Academy", is an independent school located in Woodmere, New York, United States. It is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools and the New York State Board of Regents.

Congregation Aish Kodesh (Hebrew: קהילת אש קודש, "Congregation Holy Fire") is an Orthodox synagogue in Woodmere, New York. Led since its founding in 1992 by Rabbi Moshe Weinberger, the synagogue was named after the Piaseczna Rav, Rabbi Kalonymus Kalman Shapira, known by the name of his last work, Aish Kodesh, who was a leading Polish Hasidic rabbi in prewar Europe. By injecting Hasidic elements into the prayer services, social events, and daily classes, Aish Kodesh has been called a "phenomenon" and a "revolution" in the religious community of Long Island.
