Kensington is a village in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 1,161 at the 2010 census. The Incorporated Village of Kensington is in the Town of North Hempstead and is on the Great Neck Peninsula.

US Post Office-Great Neck is a historic post office building located at Great Neck Plaza in the town of North Hempstead, Nassau County, New York, United States. It was built in 1939 and designed by consulting architect William Dewey Foster (1890-1958) for the Office of the Supervising Architect. It is a one-story, pentagonal shaped skeletal frame building clad with plucked textured buff limestone in the Classical Revival style. It features a semicircular entrance portico supported by four square columns. Above the entrance is a relief sculpture of an eagle with 13 stars sculpted in 1940 by Gaetano Cecere.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. It was designated as a local historical landmark on December 1, 2004.

The hamlets are census-designated places that consolidate various unincorporated areas. They are statistical entities and are not recognized locally. However, there are locally recognized neighborhoods within the hamlet areas, such as Harbor Hills, Saddle Rock Estates, University Gardens, and Manhasset. The Manhasset neighborhood (in ZIP Code 11030) is not considered part of Great Neck. The part of the Hamlet of Manhasset that is considered part of Great Neck includes the Great Neck Manor neighborhood. Great Neck Gardens is featured on many maps as a name of one such hamlet, even as the name is used rarely if ever by local residents.

Grace and Thomaston Buildings are two historic commercial buildings located at Great Neck Plaza in Nassau County, New York. The Grace Building was built in 1914 and the Thomaston Building in 1926. They were both built by the W. R. Grace and Company.

Founded in 1928, it is the oldest synagogue in Great Neck.As of 2009, it had a membership of 875 families. Since 2009, the senior rabbis have been Meir and Tara Feldman. Their cantor is Adam Davis. Their cantor emerita is Lisa Hest, the mother of singer-songwriter Ari Hest.

Great Neck Village High School (also known as Village School or VS) is an American long-established public alternative school. It is a member of Coalition of Essential Schools and is located in the village of Great Neck, New York, serving students in grades 8 through 12. Village School is one of three high schools in the Great Neck School District, which includes Great Neck North High School and Great Neck South High School. Village School offers its 39 students an outdoor education program, college preparatory program, and inclusion of students with disabilities.Co-founder Arnie Langberg has been called "one of the most important pioneers in the field of public alternative education."Village School is home to the newspaper 'The Villager.As of the 2014-15 school year, the school had an enrollment of 48 students and 6.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 8.0:1.
