St Michael's Church is in Church Road, Garston, a district of Liverpool, Merseyside, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Liverpool South Childwall, the archdeaconry of Liverpool, and the diocese of Liverpool. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It is located on an industrial site between gas holders and a railway.

The Academy of St Nicholas, previously known as Enterprise South Liverpool Academy (ESLA), is a joint Roman Catholic and Church of England secondary school located in Garston, Liverpool, England. The school is co-educational from years 7 to 11 including the sixth form, All Saints Sixth Form College, for ages 16–19. The school opened in a building costing £23.4m in February 2013. It is a mixed-faith school that accepts students of all faiths and none.

Garston railway station was a railway station in the Garston district of Liverpool, England. The station was located on the Northern Line of the Merseyrail suburban rail network. The station was closed in 2006 when it was replaced by Liverpool South Parkway, which is a combined bus and rail interchange. The proximity of the stations was so close the platforms of South Parkway nearly merged onto the Garston station's platforms.

The Mersey Match Factory, later known as The Matchworks, is a former match factory on Speke Road, Garston, Liverpool, England. The factory closed in 1994, and has since been converted into offices and workshops. It had opened in 1921, having been built for Maguire, Paterson and Palmer, and later used by Bryant and May. The factory was the first building in the United Kingdom to be constructed using the flat-slab concrete technique. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Liverpool South Parkway station is a railway station and bus interchange in the Garston district of Liverpool, England. It serves, via a bus link, Liverpool John Lennon Airport in the neighbouring suburb of Speke, as well as providing an interchange between main line services and the Merseyrail rapid transit/commuter rail network. The station is located towards the southern end of Merseyrail's Northern Line and on the junction of two main lines: the City Line from Liverpool to Manchester via Warrington and the Liverpool branch of the West Coast Main Line to London via Crewe. Allerton Traction Maintenance Depot is situated to the immediate east of the station.

Allerton Junction is an at grade junction signal box just east of Liverpool South Parkway, Allerton, Merseyside. It takes its name from the former Allerton station that South Parkway replaced. The junction is where the Liverpool to Manchester line branches off the Liverpool branch of the West Coast Main Line. Services operating over the junction are East Midlands Railway (to Nottingham & Norwich), TransPennine Express (Leeds & Scarborough), West Midlands Trains (Birmingham New Street), Northern (stopping services to Manchester Victoria) and Avanti West Coast (London Euston).

Hunts Cross chord is a section of railway track in Liverpool that was built by the Cheshire Lines Committee (CLC) to connect the LNWR's Edge Hill to Ditton Junction line with the CLC's Liverpool to Manchester Line. Mainline services between Manchester and Liverpool were diverted to Lime Street from their previous terminus at Central High Level over this connection from 5 September 1966.Train operating companies using the chord are East Midlands Railway and Northern for services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Piccadilly along the CLC route. TransPennine Express used this route until May 2018, when trains were rerouted via Newton-le-Willows.

The Old Garston River or Garston River, sometimes referred to as the Garston Brook, is a tributary of the River Mersey in Garston, Merseyside, a district of Liverpool. Having been encroached upon by urban development, it is now a subterranean river, culverted for all of its length, although unlike many culverted urban rivers it has not been incorporated into the sewer system.The mouth of the Garston River was a haven for fishing boats, and probably contributed to the development of the settlement of Garston, around five miles upstream from central Liverpool. The river was fed by two tributaries, a western and eastern. The shorter eastern tributary rose near Allerton. The western tributary rose about a quarter mile north west of the Calder Stones and followed the present line of Mather Avenue, but much of its drainage was intercepted by later drainage works and conveyed more directly to the Mersey. There were once several mills along the river's course, along with two large pools, one of which – Garston Mill – was located on the opposite side of Church Road from St Michael's Parish Church.Due to a low capacity of its culvert, the Old Garston River still presents an occasional flooding risk and is thought to be responsible for flooding at Woolton Golf Course and other nearby sites.
