City Building (Illinois)

The St. Charles Municipal Building is a historic building and civic center in St. Charles, Illinois, United States. It was constructed in 1940 and donated to St. Charles, and has since served as its seat of local government. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1991.

The Arcada Theatre Building is a theater in St. Charles, Illinois located on Main Street (which becomes North Avenue (Chicago) further eastward). The theatre was opened on Labor Day, September 6, 1926, engaging projection of silent movies and the staging of live vaudeville acts. Except for brief periods of renovation, it has remained continuously open. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The St. Charles History Museum is located at 215 East Main Street in St. Charles, Illinois, United States. Originating from the St. Charles Historical Society, founded in 1933, Col. E. J. Baker established a space dedicated to a historical museum in the St. Charles Municipal Building which opened in 1940. Col. Baker donated the Municipal Building to St. Charles with a condition that the city must always provide a space for a historical museum. The museum was located in the St. Charles Municipal Building until 2001, when it was then moved to the 1928 McCornack Oil Company building after renovations in May 2001. The main collections hold over 10,000 photographs and 15,000 artifacts, mainly focused on local history.

St. Charles is a city in DuPage and Kane counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. It lies roughly 40 miles (64 km) west of Chicago on Illinois Route 64. Per the 2020 census, the population was 33,081. The official city slogan is "Pride of the Fox", after the Fox River that runs through the center of town. St. Charles is part of a tri-city area along with Geneva and Batavia, all western suburbs of similar size and socioeconomic condition.

The Hunt House, formerly the Dunham–Hunt Museum, is a Registered Historic Place credited as being the oldest brick residence in St. Charles, Illinois.

The Joel H. Hubbard House, also known as the Ferson–Butler–Satterlee Home is a historic residence in St. Charles, Illinois. The Greek Revival structure is constructed of wood on a stone foundation with an asphalt roof. It remains structurally similar to its original 1854 design with the exception of a sunroom addition. Joel H. Hubbard was a carpenter who originally designed this house and lived there for at least a year. The next owner was George Ferson, a member of the Kane County Board of Supervisors. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 4, 2011.

Hotel Baker is a historic landmark in St. Charles, Illinois, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been in and out of the hotel business since 1928.

The Andrew Weisel House is a two-story Greek Revival cottage constructed of red brick and river stone. It was built in 1853 by mason Andrew Weisel and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The William Beith House, now known as the Beith House Museum, is a Registered Historic Place located at 8 Indiana Street in St. Charles, Il. It largely retains its original riverstone exterior, while many other local structures have been significantly altered or covered in stucco.

Geneva Community High School, or GHS, is a public high school located in Geneva, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Geneva Community Unit School District 304.

The North Geneva Historic District is a set of 161 buildings and structures in Geneva, Illinois. Of those, 150 contribute to the district's historical integrity. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and was slightly enlarged in 2017.

St. Charles Mall was a shopping mall located in St. Charles, IL. The mall opened in 1980 with over 48 stores (including 2 anchors stores). The mall closed in 1995. The anchors stores were Kmart and Joseph Spiess Company.
