Stuyvesant, New York

Stuyvesant station, also known as Stuyvesant Landing Depot, is a historic train station located in Stuyvesant, Columbia County, New York. It was built during the second half of 1880 after the original station was destroyed by a fire. Mull & Fromer, Masons and Builders, of Catskill, New York, secured the contract to rebuild the station and E. Lampman was their carpenter. The station is a five bay brick building, 50 feet long and 20 feet wide, with a hipped roof. It features a molded and ornamented cornice and curved canopy. It was used along New York Central Railroad's Water Level Route and ceased to be used as a station in 1958. A single Hudson–Albany commuter round trip continued to stop until the mid-1960s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999 as Stuyvesant Railroad Station. A local farmers market is held at the station.

Coxsackie Creek is a 9.8-mile-long (15.8 km) tributary to the Hudson River in the towns of Coxsackie and New Baltimore, New York in the United States.

Coxsackie Light was a lighthouse near the town of Coxsackie, New York, on the northerly end of the Low island northerly of Coxsackie island and on the westerly side of the main channel of the Hudson River. The lighthouse was first established in 1830 and the last tower was first lit in 1868. The lighthouse was deactivated in 1940. The lighthouse was a red square tower with granite trimmings and a red dwelling on stone pier. The lantern housing was black. The light was 32 feet high fixed white light. The original lens was a sixth order Fresnel lens. The Archives Center at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History has a collection (#1055) of souvenir postcards of lighthouses and has digitized 272 of these and made them available online. These include postcards of Coxsackie Light with links to customized nautical charts provided by National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration.

Stuyvesant Light was also known as Kinderhook Light.In 1835, the lightkeeper was John Carroll, born in New York and paid $300 for the year.

William A. Witbeck House is a historic home located at Stuyvesant in Columbia County, New York. It was built about 1812 and is a 1+1⁄2-story, five-by-two-bay, wood-frame dwelling in a transitional Dutch / Federal style. It is topped by a gable roof with seam metal roofing and the exterior is sheathed in clapboards.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

R. and W. Scott Ice Company Powerhouse and Ice House Site is a national historic district located at Stuyvesant in Columbia County, New York. The district includes one contributing building, one contributing structure, and one contributing site. They are the remains of an ice house, the exterior walls and chimney of a powerhouse (ca. 1885) and the surviving features of a dock and bulkhead. The ice house measured 300 feet long and 200 feet wide and the foundation walls are two feet thick.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Lynch Hotel is a historic hotel located at Newton Hook in Columbia County, New York. It was built about 1900 and is a 2-story, five-by-four-bay, frame building with a gable roof in the Queen Anne style. Also on the property is a small barn or carriage house. It has been a single family home since about 1935.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The neighboring James Lynch House was listed in 2009.

James Lynch House is a historic home located at Nutten Hook in Columbia County, New York. It was built about 1900 and is a two-story, light frame building on a brick foundation. It functioned as the Nutten Hook post office from about 1948 to 1955. It was built for James Lynch, who operated the adjacent Lynch Hotel.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Reed Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Coxsackie in Greene County, New York. The district contains 30 contributing buildings. They are a collection of mid-19th century, two and three story commercial buildings. The district displays a uniformity of style in its Italianate style brick facades with ornate brackets and overhanging eaves. It also includes three late Federal style residences.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Coxsackie ( kuuk-SAK-ee) is a town in Greene County, New York, United States. The population in the 2020 census was 8,382, a decrease from the 2010 census. The name of the town is said to be derived from a Native American term, but it has various translations ("owl's hoot" is locally common).Within the area governed as a town, there is also a village called Coxsackie. The town is in the northeastern part of the county. The town of Coxsackie is notable for being the namesake of the Coxsackievirus (a type of enterovirus), which was first isolated in this town.

Coxsackie is a village in Greene County, New York, United States. The population was 2,746 at the 2020 census.The village name comes from the native word mak-kachs-hack-ing. When the land was purchased by the Dutch settlers, the name was written as Koxhackung. It is generally translated as "Hoot-owl place" or "place of many owls" from an Algonquin word believed to mean "Place of Owls" or "Owl's Hoot". The village is in the eastern part of the town of Coxsackie along the Hudson River. The "downstreet," or downtown area, along Reed Street is home to a Post Office branch, a town Library (Heermance Memorial Library), the main offices of the State Telephone Company (internet and telephone services), National Bank of Coxsackie's main branch office, and a growing group of active, small businesses. Reed Street is two blocks long and ends at Riverside Park with panoramic views of the Hudson River. A local developer has recently bought the decaying but historic buildings and warehouses along the river in order to re-develop them for new use.
