Neustadt an der Weinstraße

Rheinhessen-Pfalz (rarely anglicized as "Rhine-Hesse-Palatinate") was one of the three Regierungsbezirke of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, located in the south of the state. It was created in 1968 out of Regierungsbezirke Rheinhessen and Pfalz, which had themselves been created out of the left-bank territories of Bavaria and Hesse-Darmstadt before World War II. Since 2000, the employees and assets of the Bezirksregierungen form the Aufsichts- und Dienstleistungsdirektion Trier (Supervisory and Service Directorate Trier) and the Struktur- und Genehmigungsdirektionen (Structural and Approval Directorates) Nord in Koblenz and Süd in Neustadt (Weinstraße). These administrations execute their authority over the whole state, e.g. the ADD Trier oversees all schools.

Neustadt (Weinstr) Hauptbahnhof – called Neustadt a/d. Haardt until 1935 and from 1945 until 1950 – is the central station of in the city of Neustadt in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition to the Hauptbahnhof, Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn services stop at Neustadt (Weinstr) Böbig halt (Haltepunkt). Mußbach station and Neustadt (Weinstr) halt, opened on 19 November 2013, are also located in Neustadt. The station was opened on 11 June 1847 as the terminus of the first section of the Palatine Ludwig Railway (Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn) from Rheinschanze (now: Ludwigshafen am Rhein) to Bexbach; this was opened over its full length two years later and now largely forms the Mannheim–Saarbrücken railway. With the opening of the Palatine Maximilian Railway (Pfälzischen Maximiliansbahn) to Wissembourg in 1855 and the Palatine Northern Railway (Pfälzische Nordbahn), built from 1865 to 1873, to Monsheim, it developed into a railway junction and also became a stop for long-distance trains. Since the 2000s, however, its importance for long-distance traffic has fallen. Since 2003, it has also been integrated into the network of the Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn. In addition, its entrance building is under heritage protection.

The Neustadt/Weinstrasse Railway Museum (Eisenbahnmuseum Neustadt/Weinstraße) is one of the two railway museums run by the German Railway History Company, (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Eisenbahngeschichte) or DGEG. It is located in the station at Neustadt an der Weinstraße. The other one is the Bochum Dahlhausen Railway Museum. The Neustadt/Weinstrasse Railway Museum is housed in the historic locomotive shed of the Palatinate Railway, built in the very earliest days of the railways. in what was then the Bavarian Palatinate or Pfalz. The engine shed is still largely in its original condition.

The Casimirianum in Neustadt an der Haardt (currently Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Rheinland-Pfalz) was a Reformed academy, which was founded in 1578 by Count Palatine Johann Casimir and named after him. The Casimirianum endured only five years. Today the name is used for the restored historical building that the Casmirianum occupied.

Haardt Castle (German: Haardter Schloss [ˈhaːɐ̯tɐ ˈʃlɔs], more rarely also Haardter Schlössel [-ˈʃlœsl̩] due to its daintiness) or Villa Clemm after its builder, is a schloss-like villa in the municipality of Haardt near the town of Neustadt an der Weinstraße in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Gimmeldingen is a village of 2636 inhabitants (as of 2004) and part of the town of Neustadt an der Weinstraße in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The beginnings of Gimmeldingen and the neighbouring village of Lobloch (which used to be connected) can be traced back to Roman settlements of as early as the year 325. It is first documented in writing as "Gomeltingen" in 1109.Gimmeldingen is best known for the yearly "Mandelblütenfestival" (almond blossom festival) which celebrates the blossoming of almond trees in spring. It is the oldest festival of its kind and opens the wine festival season ("Weinfestsaison") in Germany. The first instance of the festival is documented as taking place on the 15th of April in 1934.

The Bergstein is a natural monument in the borough of Neustadt an der Weinstraße in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It has the number ND-7316-173.The Bergstein is described as a rock group and lies at an elevation of c. 354 m (1,161 ft) at the eastern end of the Palatinate Forest and is part of the Weinbiet massif. The Bergstein lies above the Speyerbach valley and has a view of the valley and the town of Neustadt. It is accessible and is protected by railings. It is only accessible on footpaths.

Mußbach, in the local dialect Muschbach, was instituted as a city district of Neustadt an der Weinstraße in 1969 by the Rhineland-Palatinate regional reforms. In 1935 it received the oeconym 'on the Weinstraße' due to its wine-growing status. Since its institution the number of residents has grown to around 4000, making it the third most populous district of Neustadt. First mention of the locality as Muosbach is found in the inventories of the Abbey of Fulda from around 780.

Hambach, which received its name affix "an der Weinstraße" as a wine village in 1935, was incorporated into the town Neustadt an der Weinstraße (Rhineland-Palatinate) in 1969 and is its second largest district. The village is considered a symbol of German democracy because of the enunciation of freedom which took place in the Hambach Castle in 1832, known as the Hambach Festival.

The Mußbach is a stream, nearly 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) long, in the eastern Palatinate Forest and in the Anterior Palatinate region in the south of German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The former village of Mußbach (annexed by Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in 1969) was named after it.

The Weinbiet is a hill, 554 m above sea level (NHN), in the borough of Neustadt an der Weinstraße in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate and is one of the highest hills in the Haardt, the line of mountains and hills forming the eastern edge of the Palatine Forest and facing the Upper Rhine Plain. On the summit is an inn, the Weinbiethaus, a stone-built panorama tower with a weather station and a radio transmission mast. The two striking towers have made the hill a regional landmark above the plains roughly 400 metres below. The Winzergenossenschaft Weinbiet vineyard, on the municipalities of Mußbach (head office), Gimmeldingen and Haardt, takes its name from the hill.
