Elmstone is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Preston, in the Dover district, in East Kent, England. It is situated between Canterbury and Sandwich. The Domesday Book of 1086 records Elmstone as 'Aelvetone'. In 1086 the recorded population was 3 households. In 1931 the parish had a population of 117. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Preston, part also went to Wingham.The village is surrounded by farmland mostly laid to apple and pear orchards. Some local farms have been sold and are no longer used for agriculture. Elmstone Church, a small 13th-century Anglican church can be found in the village; unusually, the church does not have a dedicated saint. The church, in the Canonry Benefice of Canterbury diocese, shares a vicar with the villages of Ash, Chillenden, Goodnestone, Nonington, Preston and Stourmouth. Elmstone recorded the lowest temperature (−21.3 °C (−6.3 °F) during the Winter of 1946–1947.

The Little Stour is one of the tributaries of the River Stour in the English county of Kent. The upper reaches of the river is known as the Nailbourne, whilst the lower reaches were once known as the Seaton Navigation. The intermittent source of the Nailbourne is at Lyminge, and in its early reaches from Lyminge to Bekesbourne it forms a chalk stream and winterbourne. Below Bekesbourne it joins the Little Stour, which in turn joins with the Great Stour at Plucks Gutter near East Stourmouth.

Elmstone Church is an Anglican church in the village of Elmstone in Kent, England. The church dates back to the 13th century, and was designated a Grade II* listed building in 1963. Unusually for churches in the United Kingdom, Elmstone Church does not feature a dedication to any saint.

Stourmouth is a civil parish in the Dover non-metropolitan district of Kent, England. The parish contains the settlements of East and West Stourmouth, and the hamlet of Plucks Gutter. The 'Stourmouth' name derives from a village that was at the mouth of the River Stour before the Wantsum Channel was cut off from the sea.East Stourmouth is the main population centre, on the B2048 road that bridges the River Stour at Plucks Gutter. It is referred to as 'Stourmouth' on road signs. It has no church, nor any public buildings. The Rising Sun public house was built in 1372 as a bakery, and is today used as the parish polling station for elections. Until the 1970s there was a village post office and bakery. West Stourmouth village is the site of the parish church which dates to Saxon times, but other than a vicarage, West Stourmouth consists of a few scattered farms.

Ash is a village and civil parish in the Dover district of east Kent about three miles west of Sandwich. The civil parish has a population of 2,767, increasing to 3,365 at the 2011 Census, and includes the villages of Ash, Westmarsh, Ware, Hoaden and Richborough. The Ash Level, by the River Stour, takes up the northern part of the parish.

Ash Town railway station was a railway station on the East Kent Light Railway. The station served the village of Ash.

All Saints Church, West Stourmouth, is a redundant Anglican church in the civil parish of Stourmouth, Kent, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church stands in the settlement of West Stourmouth, some 4 miles (6 km) north of Wingham to the southeast of the A28 road.

Staple railway station was a station on the East Kent Light Railway in southeast England, serving the village of Staple. It was located north of the village, on the west side of the road to Durlock, where it crosses over the Wingham River at Durlock Bridge. The station site is now occupied by a farm.

Shatterling is a scattered hamlet located along the A257 road about two miles (3.2 km) east of Wingham in the Dover district of Kent, England. The population of the hamlet is included within the civil parish of Staple.
