Newfields, New Hampshire

Newfields is a census-designated place (CDP) and the main village within the town of Newfields, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the CDP was 378 at the 2020 census, out of 1,769 in the entire town.

The Deacon Samuel and Jabez Lane Homestead is a historic farmstead at 132 Portsmouth Avenue in Stratham, New Hampshire. Built in 1807, the main house is a fine local example of Federal period architecture, with carvings executed by a regional master craftsman. The property is further significant because the owners at the time of its construction kept detailed journals documenting the construction of it and other buildings on the property. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Stratham is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. The town had a population of 7,669 at the 2020 census. It is bounded on the west by the Squamscott River. The town is the home of the only U.S. Lindt & Sprüngli factory and the headquarters of the Timberland Corporation.

Its headquarters are at 158 Portsmouth Avenue, in the former Wiggin Memorial Library building. That building, constructed in 1912, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, and the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Emery Farm is a historic farm property at 16 Emery Lane in Stratham, New Hampshire. The farmhouse, built about 1740, is a fine example of period architecture, with later 19th century stylistic alterations. The property is notable as one of New Hampshire's first market garden farms, a practice adopted by John Emery in 1855. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

The Bartlett-Cushman House is a historic house at 82 Portsmouth Road (New Hampshire Route 33) in Stratham, New Hampshire. Built about 1810, it is one of the town's best examples of Federal-style architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Scamman Farm is a historic farmstead at Portsmouth Avenue in Stratham, New Hampshire. The farm was established by members of the Scamman family in the 1660s, and includes a barn dating to the mid-18th century, believed to be one of the oldest in the state, and a Greek Revival farmhouse dating to 1836. The property, now a subset of the family's original holdings, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.A fire that began shortly before 11 p.m. on May 10, 2021, burned down one barn on the property and killed an estimated 300 chickens. Through the efforts of firefighters, the mid-18th century barn suffered only minor damage. Days later, the family stated that they would rebuild the barn that burned down.The similarly named Scammon Farm Historic District, also located in Stratham and owned by a different branch of the family, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2023.

Scammon Farm Historic District is a historic area in Stratham, New Hampshire. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in October 2023.The farm, dating to 1681 and covering over 150 acres (61 ha) in the late 19th century, is located between the Squamscott River and Portsmouth Avenue (NH Route 108). A farmhouse dates to 1812, two sheds date to circa 1840, and a barn dates to 1860. Two other houses on the property date to 1910 and 1965. A family cemetery on the property dates to at least 1840.The similarly named Scamman Farm, also located in Stratham and owned by a different branch of the family, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.

The Fresh River is a 3.2-mile-long (5.1 km) stream in southeastern New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Piscassic River, which flows into the Lamprey River and is part of the Great Bay and Piscataqua River watershed leading to the Atlantic Ocean. Nearly the entire course of the river is through freshwater wetlands. The vertical drop of the stream over its three-mile length is less than 30 feet (9 m). It rises on the border between the towns of Epping and Brentwood and flows east into the northern corner of Exeter. The river crosses into Newfields just before joining the Piscassic River at the Piscassic Ice Pond.

Newmarket Junior-Senior High School is the public high school and middle school for the town of Newmarket, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. The teacher to student ratio is 1:13 due to the small number of students. In the 2005–2006 school year the students did as well as expected on the NHEIAP exams ranking 26th out of 75 districts in math and 23rd of 75 in reading. The Newmarket High school athletics teams compete in NHIAA Division IV. They have not won any recent championships but reached the finals in baseball in 2009 and in basketball from 2008–2009. The school mascot is the mule. The school colors are red and black. Rivals include Conant High School and Epping High School. In 2015, U.S. News & World Report ranked the Newmarket High School as number nine in the state. The school is also ranked as number one in the seacoast.The current principal is Andrew Korman.

The John Crockett House, also known as Kenniston's Tavern, is a historic house at 245 Portsmouth Road (New Hampshire Route 33) in Stratham, New Hampshire in the United States. Built about 1760, it is a well-preserved example of Georgian residential architecture. It was operated for a time as a tavern serving travelers on the main road between Portsmouth and Exeter. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
