New London, New Hampshire

New London is a census-designated place (CDP) and the primary village in the town of New London in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the CDP was 1,266 at the 2020 census, out of 4,400 in the entire town. The CDP includes the campus of Colby–Sawyer College.

The Dr. Solomon M. Whipple House, also known as the Clough or Woodward House, is a historic house on Main Street in the center of New London, New Hampshire. Built in 1850 for a long-serving doctor, it is the only Greek Revival house in the town. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. It is now the front portion of an assisted living facility.

The Baptist New Meeting House is a historic church building at 461 Main Street in New London, New Hampshire. Built in 1826, its styling closely follows the patterns laid out by Asher Benjamin in his 1797 The Country Builder's Assistant, a major architectural guide from the Federal period. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in December 2005 and the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in April 2005.

Colby–Sawyer College is a private college in New London, New Hampshire. It was founded as a coeducational academy in 1837 and sits on a 200-acre (0.81 km2) campus.

Pleasant Lake is a 602-acre (2.4 km2) lake in the town of New London, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. The village of Elkins is located at the east end of the lake, next to its outlet. Water from Pleasant Lake flows east to the Blackwater River, a tributary of the Contoocook River, and ultimately the Merrimack River.

Little Sunapee Lake (or "Little Lake Sunapee", a frequent local usage) is a 486-acre (197 ha) water body located primarily in Merrimack County in central New Hampshire, United States, in the town of New London. A small portion of the lake crosses into neighboring Springfield in Sullivan County. The lake is sometimes referred to as "Twin Lakes" due to a long, narrow peninsula which nearly cuts the lake in half. Water flowing out of the lake passes through Goose Pond and Otter Pond before entering Lake Sunapee. Bucklin Beach is a Town of New London recreation area at the east end of the lake. The lake is classified as a warmwater fishery and contains rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, and horned pout.

Elkins is an unincorporated community in New London, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. It is situated at the east end of Pleasant Lake. It is home to a public beach, public boat launch, auto repair garage, post office, church, veterinarian office, and alpaca farm. Also central to the community is the Hall of The American Legions and adjacent bandstand. The village was originally called "Scythe Factory Village" or "Scytheville", because of the presence of a scythe works in the village, using the outflow from Pleasant Lake to power the equipment to manufacture this agricultural implement. The scythe works closed in 1889 and, in 1896, the village was renamed in honor of John P. Elkins, a physician who had served the community from 1875 to 1888.

The Matthew Harvey House is a historic house on Harvey Street in North Sutton, New Hampshire. Also known as the Harvey Homestead, the house is the centerpiece of Muster Field Farm, a working farm museum. Built in 1784, it is a prominent local example of Federal period architecture, and the homestead of a politically powerful family. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

North Sutton is an unincorporated community in the town of Sutton in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. It is located at the eastern end of Kezar Lake, adjacent to Wadleigh State Park. New Hampshire Route 114 passes through the village, leading north to New London and south to Sutton Village, South Sutton and Bradford. Interstate 89 passes just east of the village, which can be accessed from Exit 10. North Sutton has a separate ZIP code (03260) from other parts of the town of Sutton.

Wadleigh State Park is a public recreation area located on the south shore of 170-acre (69 ha) Kezar Lake in Sutton, New Hampshire. The state park has a bathhouse and playing fields and offers opportunities for swimming, picnicking, fishing, and boating.

Blodgett Landing (frequently spelled Blodgetts Landing or Blodgett's Landing) is a census-designated place in the town of Newbury, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. It had a population of 152 at the 2020 census, up from 101 at the 2010 census.

Gardner Memorial Wayside Park is a small public recreation area located on Route 4A in Wilmot, New Hampshire. It is part of 6,675-acre (2,701 ha) Gile State Forest. The park offers picnicking, a half-mile hiking trail to scenic Butterfield Pond, and fishing on a brook where a mill stood in the 1800s. A park memorial is dedicated to Walter C. Gardner II, whose father established Gile State Forest.
