Ballymartle railway station was on the Cork and Kinsale Junction Railway in County Cork, Ireland.

The Tooreen ambush (also known as the Toureen ambush or Ballinhassig ambush) was an ambush carried out by the Irish Republican Army (IRA) on 22 October 1920, during the Irish War of Independence. It took place near Roberts Farm, Tooreen, near Ballinhassig in County Cork. The IRA ambushed two lorries of British soldiers, killing three and wounding four others. The British surrendered and their weapons and ammunition were seized by the IRA. Later that night, British soldiers went on a rampage in nearby Bandon.

Ballinhassig (Irish: Béal Átha an Cheasaigh) is a village in County Cork, Ireland, situated 10.6 km (6.6 mi) south of Cork City just off the N71 Bandon road and near the source of the River Owenabue (Abhainn Bui, meaning "Yellow River"). Traditionally an agricultural area, Ballinhassig has seen some growth as a commuter area, being close to Cork city. This growth saw the construction of new houses during the Irish construction boom of the early 21st century.

Ballinhassig is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Ballinhassig in County Cork, Republic of Ireland. The club was founded in 1886, and now plays Hurling at Premier Intermediate level, having won the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship in 2005, and the Cork Junior Hurling Championship in 2002. Stemming from these County Championship wins, Ballinhassig competed in Munster and All-Ireland Club Championships, and have won the following Club Championship Finals: Junior Munster Club Final, Junior All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling Championship Final, Intermediate Munster Club Final; but lost out to Dicksboro, of Kilkenny town, in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship Final, played in Croke Park. The club also plays Gaelic football, but hurling is much stronger. The club is a member of Carrigdhoun division of Cork GAA. Ballinhassig also have their own Camogie team, who play at Senior A level. The underage boys and girls teams compete in the South East League and Championship (from under 10s to under 16's ).

Waterfall (Irish: Tobar an Iarla, meaning 'well of the earl') is a small village in County Cork, Ireland. It is located just south of Cork city in the parish of Ballinora. It lies on the L2230 road, connecting Crossbarry to the city. There is a pub on the Crossbarry side of the village. The local Gaelic Athletic Association team is Ballinora GAA club. The West Cork Railway once served the area, and Waterfall railway station operated from 1851 to 1961. A railway bridge, built c. 1850, is still in place on the road leading to Ballinora.

Bishopstown Stadium (Irish: Staid a' Baile an Easpaig) is an association football stadium located in Bishopstown on the western outskirts of Cork, Ireland. It is the home ground of Women's National League (WNL) club Cork City WFC. Formerly the home ground of League of Ireland club Cork City FC, it later became their training ground. Cork City FC's move to Bishopstown in 1993 proved costly and unpopular with fans, while the condition of the pitch quickly became "notorious". With Cork City on the verge of liquidation in November 1995, the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) bought the stadium for £70,000 to be shared amongst the club's creditors. Under new ownership Cork City returned to Turners Cross in 1996.Property speculators McCarthy Developments then bought the Bishopstown ground and twice tried to turn it into student accommodation serving the Cork Institute of Technology, only to be refused planning permission. They rented the site back to Cork City as a training ground and administrative base in early 2010. Cork Women's FC began using the facility as their home ground in 2013, as they forged closer links with the owners of the male Cork City club.

Dunderrow (Irish: Dún Darú, meaning 'oak fort') is a small village in County Cork, Ireland located on the R605 road between Innishannon and Kinsale. Dún Darú, anglicised as Dunderrow, means the fort of the oak-plain, with the site of the fort (dún) for which it is named located to the south of the village.Dunderrow National School, in the centre of the village, was built in 2000 to replace an earlier 19th century building. To the east of the village is Dunderrow cemetery, formerly the site of a 19th-century Church of Ireland church (no longer standing).An Eli Lilly facility is situated near Dunderrow on 112 acres of land. It commenced operations in 1981.

Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium is a greyhound racing track located in Bishopstown, west of Cork, County Cork, Ireland.Racing takes place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening and the facilities include the grandstand Laurels restaurant, fast food facilities, a number of bars, totalisator betting and ample seating. Race distances are 330, 525, 550, 575, and 750 yards and the feature competitions at the track is the Laurels.

Spur Hill transmitter This broadcast transmission site is located to the south of the city of Cork, Ireland, just north west of Cork airport, it has a cable-stayed mast 60m tall on an elevation of 137m ASL. The transmitter was initially opened in 1965 as a VHF relay of the main Mullaghanish television transmitter in County Cork. Later, FM radio transmitters were also added providing a relay of the national radio channels, and more recently, digital radio broadcasting (DAB) was started from the site. On its conversion to UHF television transmission in 1996, it became the main transmitter serving Cork city, carrying the four Irish analogue channels, RTÉ One (Ch53), RTÉ Two (Ch57), TV3 (Ch60), and TG4 (Ch63) at an effective radiated power of 20 kW. On 24 October 2012 all analogue television transmission ended in Ireland, and the station now provides the Irish DTT service Saorview to Cork city and environs. It is owned and operated by 2RN, a subsidiary of the Irish national broadcaster RTÉ.
