Biers Run is a stream in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is a tributary of Paint Creek. A small community of the same name once stood near the banks of Biers Run. The location of Bier post office is unknown to the GNIS.

Slate Mills is an unincorporated community in Ross County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. Slate Mills is home to a local purveyor of fine fish bait products including goldfish, salty's bluegill, yellow-bellies, water leeches, crappie, nightcrawlers, green worms, red worms, and mealworms.

Ross County is a county in the Appalachian region of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 77,093. Its county seat is Chillicothe, the first and third capital of Ohio. Established on August 20, 1798, the county is named for Federalist Senator James Ross of Pennsylvania. Ross County comprises the Chillicothe, OH Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Columbus-Marion-Zanesville, OH Combined Statistical Area.

North Fork Village is an unincorporated community and former census-designated place (CDP) in Ross County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,726 at the 2000 census. It was not delineated as a CDP for the 2010 census.

Oak Hill is a historic former farmhouse in the southern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. Located along Dun Road in Ross County, it is one of the finest examples of sandstone farmhouses in the vicinity of the city of Chillicothe.The house was built by George William Dun, a native of Scotland who settled near Chillicothe in 1838. Almost immediately upon taking up residence at the site, he began the construction of his house, which was completed in 1840. A large two-story building constructed in the Federal style of architecture, it represents an American version of the British Adam style.In 1973, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its well-preserved historic architecture. It received this recognition for multiple reasons: the massive hardwood trees on the grounds evoke a sense of antiquity; the exterior is better preserved than that of almost any other period sandstone house; and the interior retains much of its original condition, including much of the furniture once owned by George Dun's ancestors.

The Adena Mansion is a historic house museum in Chillicothe, Ohio. It was built for Thomas Worthington by Benjamin Latrobe, and was completed in 1807. The house is located on a hilltop west of downtown Chillicothe. The property surrounding the mansion included the location of the first mound found to belong to the Adena culture and thus the Adena mansion is the namesake for the Adena people. The state coat of arms is thought to depict the view of Mount Logan from the Adena property. The Adena Mansion is open to visitors for a small fee.

Unioto High School is a public high school near Chillicothe, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Union-Scioto Local School District. The school colors are purple and gold. The name Unioto is a portmanteau of the two townships that the school district primarily serves in Ross County: Union Township and Scioto Township. The current high school building is situated on land that was once owned and operated by the United States Army as Camp Sherman. Camp Sherman operated from 1917 until 1920. Its purpose was to train U.S. Army soldiers for service in France during the First World War. The school is surrounded today by property still owned by the government. V.A. Memorial Stadium is a baseball stadium located on the grounds of the Veterans Administration Hospital campus off of OH-104, three miles north of Chillicothe, Ohio. It is officially designated as building 244. The stadium is the home field of the Chillicothe Paints, a collegiate wooden bat baseball team in the Prospect League. Though primarily used for baseball, V.A. Memorial Stadium has been used for softball, soccer, and other non-sporting events. The stadium holds over 3000 people. The main grandstand is covered and constructed of concrete and brick. The seating in the grandstand consists of 12 rows of bench seats with the lower 6 rows having backrests. Additional seating includes metal bleachers along the first and third base lines and a party deck extending from just beyond third base to the left field corner. Until 2006 the playing surface consisted of natural grass and dirt. In 2006, Field Turf was installed.

Chillicothe Correction Institution, or CCI, is a state-run medium security prison on the west bank of the Scioto River just outside Chillicothe, Ohio. It is located adjacent to Ross Correctional Institution and Hopewell Culture National Historical Park. The prison is a former military camp, named for Civil War general William Tecumseh Sherman. It later became a federal penitentiary and has housed several high-profile prisoners including Charles Manson in 1952, bootlegger and future NASCAR driver Junior Johnson, and serial killer Anthony Sowell. Country music legend Johnny Paycheck also served a 22-month stint in CCI for shooting a man in a Hillsboro bar. During Paycheck's time there, his friend and fellow musician Merle Haggard performed for the inmates.

The Adena mound, the type site for the Adena culture of prehistoric mound builders, is a registered historic structure, on the grounds of the Adena Mansion for which it is named, near Chillicothe, Ohio. It was listed in the National Register on June 5, 1975.
