Mutters

Natters is a municipality in the district Innsbruck-Land in the Austrian state of Tyrol located 3.5 km south of Innsbruck. The village was mentioned in documents around 1151 for the first time. Natters as well as Mutters received connection with Innsbruck thanks to the Stubaitalbahn in 1904. It has 1918 inhabitants and an own hospital. The popular Natterer See is a treasure for tourists in summer.

The Muttereralmbahn is an aerial tramway in Mutters, Tyrol, Austria. In 1954, the first cable car leading from Mutters to the popular Mutterer Alm ski resort was opened. This facility, known for its characteristic egg-shaped cabins, was shut down in 2000. A new aerial tramway with 8-person cabins was opened on January 5, 2006.

The Geroldsbach is a river of Tyrol, Austria. It originates from five fan-like source streams near Axamer Lizum at 1,900 m (6,200 ft) (AA). It flows through Götzens where it changes its direction to northeast and passes through the district Neu-Götzens. It flows further through Wilten, a district of Innsbruck. Finally, it discharges in the district Sieglanger of Innsbruck into the Inn. The Geroldsbach has a length of 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) whereof 3.9 kilometres (2.4 mi) lie in the Innsbruck city area. The Geroldsbach provides four water reservoirs for the region Götzens and two in Wilten with drinking water, which is mainly used for supplying the prisons Innsbruck and Sieglanger. As a result, the lower course carries slightly less water; it retains Grade A water quality throughout its entire course.In the event of flooding or heavy rainfall, the river proved to be a danger several times, so it was straightened in places in the local areas.

The Natterer See (or Lake Natters) is located 2.5 km west of Natters, 830 metres above sea level. It is one of the larger highland lakes in the vicinity of Innsbruck. Several hiking trails lead round the lake. Even though it's fen water, the lake has an excellent water quality (Grade A). Reed regions at the shores and pipes supply the lake with fresh water. Various kinds of carp live in the lake. Water temperature: 18–20 °C in Summer

Tyrolean Airways, officially Tyrolean Airways Tiroler Luftfahrt GmbH, was an Austrian airline based in Innsbruck with its hub at Vienna International Airport and its homebase at Innsbruck Airport. It was owned by the Lufthansa Group and was an affiliate of the Star Alliance together with its parent Austrian Airlines. Tyrolean operated regional flights under the Austrian Arrows brand on behalf of Austrian Airlines from 2003 until July 2012, when nearly all employees and the fleet of Austrian Airlines was transferred to it following a labour dispute. Following a new labour agreement, Tyrolean was merged into Austrian Airlines and dissolved as a company on 31 March 2015.

MED-EL is a global medical technology company specializing in hearing implants and devices. They develop and manufacture products including cochlear implants, middle ear implants and bone conduction systems. MED-EL is a privately owned company and is run by its co-founder and CEO Ingeborg Hochmair, an internationally acclaimed scientist and researcher in the field of hearing implants. The company headquarters are in Innsbruck, Austria.

The Ruetz is a river of Tyrol, Austria, a tributary of the Sill. The Ruetz flows from the glacier area of the Stubaital to the Wipptal in north-east direction. Near the famous Europa Bridge, it merges with the Sill after a route length of appr. 37 km (23 mi). The river crosses the village of Fulpmes providing a nearby power station of the Austrian Federal Railways with electricity. As a typical rapid-river the Ruetz is pretty dangerous and full of rapids. Before several defence structures had been constructed, it was quite feared due to floods. However, the water quality is very good and several communities in the Stubaital use the river as drinking water resource.

Internationales Studentenhaus (ISH) in Innsbruck, the capital of the province Tyrol in Austria, has been providing student accommodation since 1958. The company that built and owns the residence was founded on 15 February 1952. That makes ISH the oldest private student residence in Austria.

The University of Innsbruck (German: Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck; Latin: Universitas Leopoldino Franciscea) is a public research university in Innsbruck, the capital of the Austrian federal state of Tyrol, founded on October 15, 1669.It is currently the largest education facility in the Austrian Bundesland of Tirol, and the third largest in Austria behind Vienna University and the University of Graz. Significant contributions have been made in many branches, most of all in the physics department. Further, regarding the number of Web of Science-listed publications, it occupies the third rank worldwide in the area of mountain research. In the Handelsblatt Ranking 2015, the business administration faculty ranks among the 15 best business administration faculties in German-speaking countries.

The Medical University of Innsbruck (German: Medizinische Universität Innsbruck) is a university in Innsbruck, Austria. It used to be one of the four historical faculties of the Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck and became an independent university in 2004.

Innsbruck Airport (IATA: INN, ICAO: LOWI), also known locally as Kranebitten Airport, is the largest international airport in Tyrol in western Austria. It is located approximately 4 kilometres (2+1⁄2 mi) from the centre of Innsbruck. The airport, which was opened in 1925, handles regional flights around the Alps, as well as seasonal international traffic to further European destinations. During the winter, activity increases significantly, due to the high number of skiers travelling to the region.

The Bergisel is a hill (746 m) that lies to the south of Innsbruck, Austria, in the area of Wilten, where the Sill river meets the Inn Valley. The word's first syllable Berg- doesn't correspond etymologically to the German word Berg with the meaning mountain. The Bergisel's contemporary name is derived from the pre-Roman word burgusinus (elevated position), which then altered through folk etymology, causing the occasional spelling Berg Isel or its English equivalent Mount Isel.Among its earlier uses were as a cremation site and as a habitation area during the Iron Age. In 1809, Bergisel was the site of the four Battles of Bergisel under the command of the freedom fighter Andreas Hofer. In 1892, the Andreas Hofer monument was erected in order to commemorate the battles. Since 1952, Innsbruck has hosted one leg of the Four Hills Tournament. The Bergiselschanze was built of concrete for the 1964 Winter Olympics to replace an older, smaller ramp. It was also used for the 1976 Winter Olympics. A new ramp was opened in 2003, designed by the architect Zaha Hadid, as the old one no longer conformed to contemporary requirements of ski jumping. Until an accident following a mass panic, which resulted in several deaths, the Bergisel stadium was also the site of the Air & Style snowboard festival. Both the Brenner railway and the Brennerautobahn have tunnels below the Bergisel. The Sill Gorge, a recreational site, is located at its base. The Bergisel can be reached by the Stubaitalbahn from Innsbruck, exiting at Station Sonnenburgerhof, or by the Tram 1, at Station Bergisel.
