Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino is a racino located in Sunland Park, New Mexico, a suburb in southern New Mexico. Opened in 1959 as a Thoroughbred racing track, Sunland Park was the only legalized gambling venue in the region for many years. In 1999, at a time when horse racing was experiencing a decline as casinos and lotteries became commonplace, New Mexico legislators allowed slot machines at the track. Now with over 700 machines in play, racing at Sunland has benefited greatly, with purses increasing from a $35,000 daily average in the early 1990s to nearly a quarter million per day today.Sunland Park was the track where jockeys Jerry Bailey, Pat Valenzuela, and Cash Asmussen got their starts. Bill Shoemaker, who hails from the area, also rode at Sunland.The casino, open 112 hours a week, also offers many electronic table games including roulette, blackjack and Texas Hold 'Em.

Puerto de Anapra, (or Colonia Puerto De Anapra or simply Anapra) is a colonia in the city of Ciudad Juárez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. Anapra is west of the Rio Grande, on the border of the U.S. state of New Mexico. It is one of the poorest communities within the city.The unincorporated town of Anapra, New Mexico, across the border in the United States, was incorporated as part of Sunland Park, New Mexico.

The Shoppes at Solana (formerly Sunland Park Mall) is a shopping mall in El Paso, Texas, owned and operated by Enoch Kimmelman. It is located on El Paso's west side, at Interstate 10 and Sunland Park Drive. It features five anchor stores operating under four brand names, and more than 130 specialty stores on two enclosed levels. It is the second-largest mall of the three in the metro area, behind Cielo Vista Mall.With a gross leasable area of 918,475 square feet (85,329 m2), the mall is classified as a super-regional mall by the International Council of Shopping Centers.Construction of the mall was completed in 1988, and it opened to the public on August 31 of that year. It is approximately one mile from Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino, a racino just across the state line in Sunland Park, New Mexico. It is about four miles (6 km) from the border with Mexico.Macy's closed its Sunland Park Mall store in 2017. Western Wear moved into the former Macy's space. Forever 21 closed in 2018. On November 8, 2018, it was announced that Sears will be closing this location in early 2019 a part of a plan to close 40 stores.In July 2023, the mall was sold and bought by Enoch Kimmelman, a president and CEO of Starr Western Wear. The mall was renamed The Shoppes at Solana. The mall's website and domain name merged to the new name in August 2023.

Sunland Park is a city in southern Doña Ana County, New Mexico, United States, on the borders of Texas and the Mexican state of Chihuahua, with Ciudad Juárez adjoining it on the south and El Paso, Texas, on the east. The community of Santa Teresa adjoins it on the northwest. The population of Sunland Park was 14,106 at the 2010 census and was estimated at 17,978 by the United States Census Bureau in 2019. Though it lies adjacent to El Paso, being in Doña Ana County makes it a part of the Las Cruces metropolitan statistical area. Las Cruces is 42 miles (68 km) to the north. The city is at the foot of Mount Cristo Rey, next to the Rio Grande, and is named for Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino, which lies within the city limits. The location was formerly called "Anapra", a name shared by an adjacent area of Ciudad Juárez.

KXPL (1060 AM) was a radio station licensed to El Paso, Texas, United States. The station was owned by New Radio System, Inc., a United States corporation operating the station on behalf of Mexican radio station operator Radiorama, which had a partial ownership stake. The station had been silent since June 30, 2020, for economic reasons.

International Boundary Marker No. 1, U.S. and Mexico is a monument on the Mexico–U.S. border, on the west bank of the Rio Grande River near El Paso, Texas. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and designated as a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1976. The monument was placed there in 1855 by the Emory-Salazar Commission. It is a dressed cut stone monument 12 feet (3.7 m) tall, 5 by 5 feet (1.5 m × 1.5 m) at its base and 2.5 by 2.5 feet (0.76 m × 0.76 m) at its top. The monument was repaired in 1892 by the Barlow-Blanco Commission, and again in 1929 by the International Boundary Commission. It was repainted in 1933 and in 1959, the latter time by the International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC). It was refurbished in 1966 by both sections of the IBWC, which stripped its old plaster coating down to the original masonry monument and re-faced it with white marbleized concrete. A 9 by 9 metres (30 ft × 30 ft) concrete slab platform was added then, too.It has also been known as Western Land Boundary Marker No. 1, U.S. and Mexico. It is located in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, west of El Paso off Interstate 10.

Coronado High School in El Paso, Texas, United States is located on the west side of El Paso near the intersection of North Mesa Street and Resler Drive. It serves the southern part of west El Paso: east of Interstate 10, from the vicinity of Executive Center Boulevard north approximately three miles to around Coronado Arroyo, a normally dry stream bed running west down from the Franklin Mountains just north of Escondido Drive; and the portion of the Upper Valley (the part of El Paso County beside the Rio Grande west of Interstate 10) which lies south of Country Club Road. Most of the Coronado attendance zone is zoned to Morehead Middle School for grades six to eight. The elementary schools in the Coronado feeder pattern include Dr. Green, L.B Johnson, Putnam, Carlos Rivera, Western Hills, and Zach White. The Upper Valley portion of the Coronado attendance area is zoned to Zach White Elementary and Lincoln Middle School, except for the Buena Vista neighborhood around Interstate 10 and West Paisano Drive, which is zoned to Johnson and Morehead. Dr. Green, L.B Johnson, Putnam, Carlos Rivera and Western Hills elementary schools all graduate into Morehead Middle School. Notes for the high school feeder zone have schools name changed. Since EPISD 2016, Bond passed for the school consolidated for the following: Don Haskins PK-8 served in the Upper Valley, known as former Abraham Lincoln Middle School. There are two elementary schools for Oran Robert Elementary School, and Mitzi Bond Elementary School is closed. Charles Q Murphree PK-8 served in the Westside El Paso across Mesa Street, known as former Morehead Middle School. There is one elementary school for LB Johnson Elementary school is closed.Coronado High is named for Spanish conquistador Francisco Vázquez de Coronado, whose expeditions in what is now the southwestern United States took him through what is now El Paso.

The American Dam, or American Diversion Dam, is a diversion dam on the Rio Grande in El Paso, Texas, that divides the river water between Mexico and the U.S. It is about 140 feet (43 m) north of the point where the west bank of the river enters Mexico, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) from the business center. The dam is operated by the International Boundary and Water Commission. It started operation in 1938.

Smeltertown was a residential community in El Paso County, Texas, housing the workers of the ASARCO smelter and their families, between El Paso and the Texas borders with Mexico and New Mexico. With only one small neighborhood, now known as the La Calavera Historical Neighborhood, remaining since the Smelter's closure, Smeltertown is sometimes referred to as a ghost town.The Smeltertown community was served by the San Jose church, and by the Jones School of the El Paso Independent School District.

The El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center is located at 715 N. Oregon in the city and county of El Paso, in the U.S. state of Texas. The museum was founded in 1994 by Holocaust survivor Henry Kellen. It was established to educate the public about the Nazi dictatorship, its concentration camps, and resistance movements during World War II. Funding for the museum is provided through donations and grants.

The American Canal is an irrigation canal in the Upper Rio Grande Valley near El Paso, Texas. The canal acquires water from the Rio Grande from the American Diversion Dam at the Texas–New Mexico–Mexico border, 2 miles (3.2 km) northwest of downtown El Paso. The canal supplies the majority of the raw water to El Paso’s Johnathan-Roger Water Treatment Plant. It also mitigates flooding in south El Paso neighborhoods. The canal travels along the Rio Grande for 2.1 miles (3.4 km) where it flows into the Franklin Canal and the rest of the canal network. Construction of the canal dates back to 1938.
