Weischlitz

Weischlitz station is a local railway junction in the municipality of Weischlitz in Vogtland in the German state of Saxony. The station is located on the Plauen–Cheb railway and the railway from Gera Süd.

The Feudal Estate of Kürbitz, in Vogtland, was a manor of the family of Feilitzsch; only a part of the mansion is extant.

Kürbitz is a former municipality in the district of Vogtlandkreis in Saxony in Germany located near Plauen. On 1 January 1999, the village was merged into the municipality Weischlitz.

The Elster Viaduct near Pirk, part of Weischlitz municipality, is one of the most unusual motorway bridges in Germany. The building of this bridge began in 1937, but was stopped in 1940 due to the chaos created by World War II. Since this bridge then was in the restricted area of the East Germany, construction was not restarted until 1990. In June 1990 preliminary investigations began, and finally in September 1990 the building of the bridge began anew. In August 1993 the bridge was opened to traffic. Federal Motorway 72 (Ger. Bundesautobahn 72) now uses the bridge.

Plauen (German pronunciation: [ˈplaʊən]; Czech: Plavno) is, with around 65,000 inhabitants, the fifth-largest city of Saxony, Germany after Leipzig, Dresden, Chemnitz and Zwickau, the second-largest city of the Vogtland after Gera, as well as the largest city in the Saxon Vogtland (German: Sächsisches Vogtland). The city lies on the river White Elster (Weiße Elster; a tributary of the Saale), in the Central Vogtlandian Hill Country. Plauen is the southwesternmost city of a string of cities sitting in the densely populated foreland of the Elster and Ore Mountains, stretching from Plauen in the southwest via Zwickau, Chemnitz and Freiberg to Dresden in the northeast. It is the capital of the Vogtland District. Plauen borders Thuringia to the north, and it is also situated near the Saxon border with Bavaria (Franconia) and the Czech Republic (Bohemia). Although being a Saxon city, the regional Vogtlandian dialect spoken in Plauen is a (Saxon-influenced) East Franconian variant related to the dialects of neighbouring Franconia in Bavaria. The name of the city as well as the names of many of its boroughs are of Slavic origin. Plauen and the surrounding Saxon Vogtland are known as the centre of the German embroidery and lace industry.

Leubnitz is a village and a former municipality in the Vogtlandkreis district, in Saxony, Germany. Since 1 January 2011, it is part of the municipality Rosenbach.

Rosenbach (official name: Rosenbach/Vogtl.) is a municipality in the Vogtlandkreis district, in Saxony, Germany. It was formed on 1 January 2011 by the merger of the former municipalities Leubnitz, Mehltheuer and Syrau.

The Embroidery Machine Museum has historical and regional importance in the City of Plauen, Germany. The exhibit is located in a small group of buildings consisting of a home and a small factory with original embroidery machines. Because of the historic and authentic nature of the structures and the originality of the machinery, this exhibit offers insight into Saxony textile industry as it existed in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The Plauen tramway network (German: Straßenbahnnetz Plauen) is a network of tramways forming part of the public transport system in Plauen, a city in the federal state of Saxony, Germany. Opened in 1894, the network has been operated since 1990 by Plauener Straßenbahn GmbH (PSB), and is integrated in the Verkehrsverbund Vogtland (VVV).

Plauen (Vogtland) Oberer Bahnhof (Upper station) is the main station of Plauen in the German state of Saxony on the Leipzig–Hof line. It is the main hub of rail traffic in Vogtland. This station is maintained and operated by DB Station&Service.
