Raytown, Missouri

Brooking Township is an inactive township in Jackson County, in the U.S. state of Missouri.Brooking Township was established in 1872, taking its name from Alvin Brooking, a state legislator.The township includes Raytown and environs, including a northwestern portion of Unity Village.

Wildwood Lake is a reservoir in Jackson County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is located one mile southeast of Raytown.

Richards Field was the first airport in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The field was established in 1922 near the border between Kansas City, Missouri, and Raytown, Missouri, at the southeast corner of Blue Ridge Boulevard and Gregory Boulevard. It was named for John Francisco Richards II, a Kansas City aviator killed in World War I. The airport was visited by Charles Lindbergh. In 1927, Kansas City built Kansas City Downtown Airport, which was briefly called New Richards Field and then became Kansas City Municipal Airport. Richards' name was to be used for Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base. After the downtown airport was built, the Raytown airport became known as Ong Field for aviator William Ong. The airport was abandoned in 1949 and became a subdivision called Gregory Heights, with Ong Lake in the 1950s. A historical marker/plaque can be found at 9063 Gregory Blvd, Raytown, MO, marking the spot of the old airfield.

The Rice-Tremonti House in Raytown, Missouri, was built in 1844 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.The house was built by Archibald and Sally Rice, who had moved to Missouri from North Carolina and started a forced-labor farm worked by enslaved people. They built a log house in this location around 1836. The current Gothic Revival frame farmhouse replaced the original 1844. The farm was about eight miles south of Independence along the Santa Fe Trail and became a popular stop for travelers. Archibald died in 1849 and his son Elihu Coffee Rice became the owner. In 1850, Elihu married Catherine "Kitty" Stoner White. Kitty enslaved Sophia White, who accompanied her and lived in a cabin near the home's back door. "Aunt Sophie" remained with the family until shortly before her death in 1896. Rice and his family, who were slave-holding Southern sympathizers, moved to Texas during the Civil War. For unknown reasons, the house was not destroyed under General Order No. 11. It is believed to be the oldest surviving frame building remaining in Jackson County. In 1929, the house was bought by Dr. Louis G. Tremonti and his wife Lois Gloria, who sold the house to the Friends of the Rice-Tremonti Home Association in 1988. The association has restored the home and holds open houses for visitors. The site includes several acres of land, the house, and a replica of a slave cabin referred to as "Aunt Sophie's Cabin".

Raytown Senior High School is a high school located in Raytown, Missouri. The school was established in 1914. The enrollment of Raytown High School currently stands at 1503 students. The school, located in downtown Raytown, underwent two years of renovations from 1992–1994. The most recent renovations were completed just before the 2008–2009 term, and included the addition of 2 science classrooms. The school currently has Missouri A+ designation, and is MSIP Accredited.

Herndon Career Center is a career and technical high school in Raytown, Missouri, United States. It is operated by the Raytown C-2 School District.Cheryl Reichert is director of the school.

Raytown South Senior High School is a high school located in Raytown, Missouri. The school was established in 1961, and graduated its first class of seniors in 1964. As Raytown became less of a "destination-suburb" in the 1990s, the enrollment fell drastically.

Two Rivers Behavioral Health System was a 105-bed psychiatric hospital located in Kansas City, Missouri.Opened in October 1986, the facility was operated as a private, for-profit, behavioral health hospital and was owned by Universal Health Services. Two Rivers Behavioral Health System had a broad range of in-patient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient services comprising the following units or programs: The National Center for Trauma-Based Disorders Dual Diagnosis and Addictions Spectrum Adult Services Renaissance Older Adult Program Child and Adolescent ProgramThe National Center for Trauma-Based Disorders had both trauma stabilization and trauma treatment programs as well as a program for those with trauma and co-occurring eating disorders and addictions. Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital was at one time one of two private, free-standing psychiatric hospitals in the Kansas City area, the other being the Research Medical Center's Research Psychiatric Center. In September 2008 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) terminated Two Rivers' participation in Medicare. United Health appealed the decision and eventually agreed to a settlement requiring Two Rivers to retain an outside monitor for six months.The hospital announced it was closing effective February 9, 2019 after a decision made by its then corporate parent, Universal Health Services.

The Four Gates Farm, also known as Oak Hill Farm, is a historic home and national historic district located at 13001 Little Blue Rd. in Kansas City, Missouri. The district encompasses two contributing buildings and four contributing structures. The main house was designed by architect Mary Rockwell Hook in 1925, and is a three-story brick and rubble masonry dwelling. It consists of a rectangular main section with flanking wings and features decks, balconies, projecting one-story porches, and an engaged conical roof over a doorway. Other contributing resources are a small stone farmhouse, a free standing conical roofed stone tower, and three stone outbuildings.: 19–21 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

85th and Manchester "Three Trails" Trail Segment is a historic Santa Fe Trail segment located at Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. The segment is a deep and wide swale that diverges around a natural rock outcrop and measures approximately 390 feet (120 m) long. The segment may have been on the route of the original Santa Fe trading expedition led by William Becknell in 1821.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Archbishop O'Hara High School was a Roman Catholic high school in Kansas City, Missouri. It was located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. The school was also associated with the De La Salle Christian Brothers, and was one of the ministries of the Midwest District of the Brothers.

KPRS is an Urban contemporary radio station that broadcasts on the 103.3 MHz frequency licensed to Kansas City. The station's playlist consists of hip-hop, R&B, and gospel music. According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), it is the oldest continually African American family-owned radio station in the United States. The station is owned by Carter Broadcast Group, and its studios are located in South Kansas City, as well as its transmitter (located separately).
