Niederau

Niederau station is a regional station on the Leipzig–Dresden railway in Niederau in the German state of Saxony. The railway station, which was opened on 15 May 1842, for a long time had the oldest operating station building in Germany, but Deutsche Bahn stopped using it and sold it after 2000.

The Oberau Tunnel (Oberauer Tunnel) was the second railway tunnel in Germany after a railway tunnel on the Tollwitz–Dürrenberg Railway (Tollwitz-Dürrenberger Eisenbahn, a 585 mm gauge mining railway), but it was the first tunnel of a normal railway on the continent of Europe. It was driven between 1837 and 1839 on the Leipzig–Dresden railway by Freiberg miners and opened out in 1933/1934. Today only an obelisk commemorates this milestone in German railway history.

Weinböhla is a municipality in the district of Meißen, in Saxony, Germany. It is situated 7 km east of Meißen, and 17 km northwest of Dresden. The municipality can be reached from Dresden by Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe tram route 4.

Neusörnewitz station (German: Bahnhof Neusörnewitz) is a railway station named after the nearby village of Neusörnewitz, part of Coswig, Saxony, Germany. Platform 1 is located in Coswig (Gemarkung Neusörnewitz), platform 2 in Weinböhla, though. The station lies on the Borsdorf–Coswig railway, passenger services are operated by DB Regio Südost and are part of Dresden S-Bahn network.

Ockrilla, is a village in the district of Meissen, Saxony, Germany. With 633 inhabitants, it is the largest village in the municipality of Niederau. The village was the birthplace of Gottlob Krause.

Schloss Scharfenberg, Saxony is a medieval castle on the southern slopes of the River Elbe mid-way between Dresden and Meissen. It lies in the Pegenau area of Klipphausen municipality, Meissen, Saxony.The castle has a panoramic view over the Elbe valley. It has a long-established link to many artists as a Romantic subject. It is currently (2023) run partly as a hotel, taking advantage of its romantic location and atmosphere.

Coswig (German pronunciation: [ˈkɔsvɪç]; Upper Sorbian: Kosowiki) is a town in the district of Meißen, in Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the right bank of the Elbe, approximately 9 km southeast of Meißen, and 13 km northwest of Dresden. It is the home of Fachkrankenhaus Coswig, a hospital specializing in thoracic surgery. The town can be reached from Dresden by Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe's tram route 4, or from both Dresden and Meißen by Dresden S-Bahn line S1 and further regional railway lines at Coswig's railway station.

Meissen (in German orthography: Meißen, IPA: [ˈmaɪsn̩]), is a town of approximately 30,000 about 25 km (16 mi) northwest of Dresden on both banks of the Elbe river in the Free State of Saxony, in eastern Germany. Meissen is the home of Meissen porcelain, the Albrechtsburg castle, the Gothic Meissen Cathedral and the Meissen Frauenkirche. The Große Kreisstadt is the capital of the Meissen district.

Meißen station is the largest railway station in the town of Meissen in the German state of Saxony. The station was opened in 1860 in the district of Cölln. Its entrance building, which was built in 1928, is a heritage-listed building and along with the Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof it is considered an architecturally significant transport complex of the interwar period. After the ending of long-distance traffic in the 1960s, the station is now a station of the Dresden S-Bahn with only regional significance.

Villa Teresa is a cultural site in Coswig in Saxony, Germany. The pianist, singer, conductor and composer Teresa Carreño and her husband, the pianist and composer Eugen d'Albert, lived here from 1891 to 1895. It is now a museum dedicated to the two musicians, with rooms furnished in the style of the period, and with a concert hall for chamber music concerts.

Coswig (b Dresden) station is a railway station in Coswig in the German state of Saxony. The station, which opened on 1 December 1860, is at the junction of the Borsdorf–Coswig railway, which terminates here, the Leipzig–Dresden railway, the Pirna–Coswig railway and a connecting curve from the Berlin–Dresden railway. In passenger transport it is served by Regional-Express and Regionalbahn services and by the Dresden S-Bahn. The station is classified as a cultural monument.
