The Victor J. Daniel Electric Generating Plant is a major 2-gigawatt, four-unit fossil fuel power plant, generating about 1 GWe from two coal-fired subcritical drum-type units and 1 GWe from its two newer, gas-fired combined-cycle units. Plant Daniel is located in Jackson County, near Escatawpa, Mississippi. Named for Victor J. Daniel Jr., Mississippi Power's fourth president, the plant was designated by Southern Company Services, Inc. Jointly owned by Mississippi Power and Florida Power & Light (FPL), it is the largest generator of electric power in the state of Mississippi.

It is located on a 50-acre (20 ha) property overlooking the joining of the Pascagoula River and the Escatawpa River, about 5 miles (8.0 km) in from the outlet of the Pascagoula to the Gulf of Mexico. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.It was deemed significant as "one of the more architecturally and historically significant buildings in Jackson County...a good example of late Greek Revival architecture with Italianate influence...[and] one of the few surviving mid-nineteenth-century residences in the area."Its historical importance relates to its continuous association with the Griffin and Dantzler families, who were pioneers in the lumber industry of Mississippi. William Griffin opened the first successful lumber mill (in the state?). The house was built for Dr. Erasmus T. Griffin, son of William. It served as the business office for the Dantzler Lumber Company during the early 1900s. As of 1983, it was still in the family, owned by William Griffin's great-grandson A. F. Dantzler.

It is located at the southeastern tip of the state. The county has sandy soil and is in the Piney Woods area. It borders the state of Alabama on its east side. The county was severely damaged by both Hurricane Camille in August 1969 and Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005, which caused catastrophic effects.

WPMO (1580 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Pascagoula-Moss Point, Mississippi. The station airs a sports radio format, and is owned by Noah Britt, through licensee Tri City Radio, LLC. Most programming comes from the CBS Sports Radio Network. By day, WPMO is powered at 5,000 watts. But to protect other stations on 1580 AM from interference, at night it reduces power to 51 watts. It uses a directional antenna at all times, with a two-tower array. The radio studios and transmitter are on Telephone Road in Pascagoula.
