Sandelingen Ambacht

Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht (Dutch: [ˈɦɛndrɪk ˈidoː ˈʔɑmbɑxt] (listen)) is a village and municipality in the western Netherlands. It is located on the island of IJsselmonde, and borders with Zwijndrecht, Ridderkerk, and the Noord River (with Alblasserdam and Papendrecht on the other side). The jurisdiction of the municipality covers an area of 11.90 km2 (4.59 sq mi) of which 1.29 km2 (0.50 sq mi) is water. The municipality comprises no other population centres.

Oostendam is a Dutch village. It is located in the municipality of Ridderkerk, within the province of South Holland. The village was first mentioned in 1435 as "totten cleynen Waldammen toe, die men heet op desen voorsz. tyt Dappers - dam", and means "eastern dam". The dam was founded in 1332 when Count William III had dikes built around a side-arm of the river Waal. As it is currently a dead branch of the river, the locals commonly refer to it as the Waaltje, meaning Little Waal. Oostendam is located on the island of IJsselmonde, which is largely occupied by the nearby city of Rotterdam. A part of the village was located in the municipality of Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. It has been annexed and is now a neighbourhood with Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. It used to have a harbour, but it was closed in 1950. In 1946, the Immanuel Chapel was built as emergency church. It was extensively modified in 1976. In 2000, the church was extended and the former day care centre was redesigned as consistory.

Rijsoord is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located about 10 km southeast of the city of Rotterdam, in the municipality of Ridderkerk. Rijsoord was a separate municipality until 1855, when it merged with Ridderkerk. Between 1846 and 1855, it was named "Rijsoort en Strevelshoek" after a merger with the smaller municipality of Strevelshoek. The current village is largely located north of the Waaltje (little Waal) river, outside the area of the former municipality. The village had its day in history on 15 May 1940, when the Dutch Commander-in-Chief General Henri Winkelman had to sign the surrender to the German invaders, after four days of fighting in World War II. The formality took place in a school building in Rijsoord, now a museum.

Hermitage is a defunct restaurant in Rijsoord, Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1995 and retained that rating until 2014.In 2013, Gault Millau awarded the restaurant 15 out of 20 points. Hermitage was a member of Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise.Head chef of Hermitage was Jan Klein. Jan Klein started the restaurant in Zwijndrecht and relocated to Rijsoord in 1999. This building is a monument named "Wapen van Rijsoord", built as a farm around 1800.The restaurant closed down on 10 June 2014 when chef Klein filed for bankruptcy. He cites as main causes for the bankruptcy his expensive monumental building and price campaign weeks that favoured price above quality.On 31 October 2014 a new restaurant, Ross Lovell, opened in the Wapen van Rijsoord building.

Kijfhoek classification yard is a hump yard type freight rail yard between Rotterdam and Dordrecht in the western Netherlands. The rail yard is named after the nearby village Kijfhoek in the municipality Zwijndrecht. With an area of 50 hectares Kijfhoek is the largest of the few railway yards left in the country. The rail yard has a key function in connecting the rail network at the Port of Rotterdam with the rest of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

The Gorzen is a nature park in the Dutch province of South Holland, located on the eastside of Ridderkerk, between the New Veer and the New harbor. The nature- and recreational park The Gorzen is a former dumpsite with a total area of 40 acres (16 ha). The park was formed in consequences of all kinds of activities and circumstances in a period of half a century shaped in a hillside nature park with a few lakes and brooks.

De Brave Hendrik was a fine dining restaurant in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Netherlands. It was awarded one Michelin star in 1990 and retained that rating until 1996.

Ridderkerk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌrɪdərˈkɛr(ə)k] (listen)) is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality had a population of 46,241 in 2019, and covers an area of 25.26 km2 (9.75 sq mi) of which 1.54 km2 (0.59 sq mi) is covered by water. The municipality of Ridderkerk also includes the following towns, villages and townships: Bolnes, Oostendam, Rijsoord and Slikkerveer. Ridderkerk has a museum called De Oudheidkamer, about the history of the town. The Centre of Ridderkerk has a central square for events and there is a theater.

Strevelshoek is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located about 1 km northwest of the village of Rijsoord, on the south bank of the Waaltje. The hamlet is not mentioned on recent topographical maps. Strevelshoek was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1846, when it merged with Rijsoord. According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, there were five houses in the municipality around 1845, four of which made up the hamlet Strevelshoek. The municipality had about 40 inhabitants. The area is now part of the municipality of Ridderkerk.

Slikkerveer is a village in the municipality of Ridderkerk, Netherlands. In 2004, 8550 people lived in Slikkerveer. It is located about 6 km east-southeast of the city of Rotterdam

The Waaltje (common name; Dutch for Little Waal) is a dammed river in the western Netherlands, southeast of Rotterdam. Historically it used to be the western end of the Waal river, hence its official name continues to be Waal, although the intermediate Waal sections, Boven Merwede, Beneden Merwede, and a subsection of the Noord, have long changed their names.
