Leipzig/Halle Airport (IATA: LEJ, ICAO: EDDP) (German: Flughafen Leipzig/Halle) is an international airport located in Schkeuditz, Saxony, Germany, and serves both Leipzig, Saxony, and Halle, Saxony-Anhalt. It is Germany's 14th largest airport by passengers and handled more than 2.61 million passengers in 2019 mainly with flights to European leisure destinations. In terms of cargo traffic, the airport is the fifth-busiest in Europe and the second-busiest in Germany after Frankfurt Airport, having handled 1,238,343 metric tonnes of cargo in 2019. The airport serves as the main European hub for DHL Aviation and the main hub for AeroLogic. Military installations have also been built at the airport for NATO and EU military aircraft.

Schkeuditz (German pronunciation: [ˈʃkɔʏdɪts] ) is a Große Kreisstadt in the district of Nordsachsen, in Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the White Elster river, 12 km northwest of Leipzig. Leipzig/Halle Airport is located in Schkeuditz. The letter processing center for the greater Leipzig region is also located in Schkeuditz. "Schkeuditzer Kreuz", the first cloverleaf exchange in Germany was opened in 1936 and is today the intersection between the autobahns A9 and A14.

Alte Luppe is a small river of Saxony, Germany. The Alte Luppe flows in the northwestern suburbs of Leipzig. It begins as a left branch of the Bauerngraben River. It is a left tributary of the Neue Luppe river.

The Zschampert is a river of Saxony, Germany. It flows into the Alte Luppe near Leipzig.

Zwochau is a village and a former municipality in the district (Landkreis) of North Saxony, in the administrative region (Direktionsbezirk) of Leipzig, in Saxony. Since 1 January 2013, it is part of the municipality Wiedemar.

The Middle German Chemical Triangle (German: Mitteldeutsches Chemiedreieck or locally just Chemiedreieck) is the industrial conurbation around the cities and towns of Halle (Saale), Merseburg and Bitterfeld in the North German state of Saxony-Anhalt and Leipzig and Schkeuditz in the Free State of Saxony. Its name is derived from the dominant industries of the region – the chemical and oil refining industries. It is often referred to as the Leuna-Buna-Bitterfeld Chemical Triangle (Chemiedreieck Leuna-Buna-Bitterfeld) because these places are the oldest and most important in the region. Buna is not a town, but was the name of the first synthetic rubber (butadiene and natrium) which was produced in the Buna factory at Schkopau. Today Dow Chemical produces synthetic rubber in Schkopau which is marketed under the name of BUNA SB. At the end of the 1950s the advertising slogan Plaste und Elaste aus Schkopau ("Plastic and Elastomer from Schkopau") was introduced, in order to promote the spectrum of products of the Buna Chemical Works. The slogan was used especially on posters and neon lights. The best known light advert was on a tower on the northern abutment of the Elbe bridge at Vockerode on the transit route from Berlin to Hof (nowadays part of the BAB 9 motorway).

Lützschena-Stahmeln is an area in the north-west of the city of Leipzig, a few miles upriver on the White Elster in what is now known as 'former' East Germany. It is known as the place where the wool merchant Maximilian Speck von Sternburg worked on his model sheep farm and beer brewery, and is still known today for his namesake: Sternburg.

The Elster-Saale Canal (German: Elster-Saale-Kanal), renamed in 1999 by the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration to Saale-Leipzig Canal (German: Saale-Leipzig-Kanal) or SLK and on the Halle side also called Saale-Elster Canal, was a canal project started in 1933 and aborted in 1943. It was intended to link the White Elster river with the Saale near Leuna and thus enable the city of Leipzig to be joined to Germany's inland waterway network. The 11 kilometre long water-filled channel is one of the "special federal waterways".A lock was built near Wusteneutzch which would have allowed canal freight traffic to connect with the Saale; however the canal never reached this point. This link would have given Leipzig access to the Elbe via the Saale and thus to Hamburg and the North Sea. The canal was planned for ships up to 1,000 tonnes in weight (roughly Class IV). Plans to complete the canal have been revived and an Elster-Saale Canal Society has been formed.

Neue Luppe is an artificial river of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The Neue Luppe begins at the Elsterbecken. It is a left tributary of the White Elster River, which it joins near Schkeuditz.

Großkugel station is a railway station in the Großkugel district in the municipality of Kabelsketal, located in the Saalekreis district in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

Bauerngraben is a river of Saxony, Germany. It is a left tributary of the Neue Luppe river, which it joins northwest of Leipzig.
