Callahan Tunnel

The Sumner Tunnel is a road tunnel in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It carries traffic under Boston Harbor in one direction, from Logan International Airport and Route 1A in East Boston. The tunnel originally deposited traffic at the west side of the North End, but with the completion of the Big Dig, it was modified to have two exits. One exit connects to I-93 northbound and downtown Boston (Government Center) near Haymarket Subway Station. The other exit connects to Storrow Drive and Nashua St. with connections to Cambridge, MA via Rt. 28 north. Traffic headed for I-93 southbound and the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) westbound is normally routed to the Ted Williams Tunnel.

Hancock's Wharf was a dock on the waterfront of Boston, Massachusetts in the 1700s, owned by John Hancock, and previously his uncle, Thomas Hancock. Hancock's Wharf began from near the foot of Fleet Street and the junction of Fish and Ship Streets. Both of the latter streets are now roughly the present-day Commercial Street. This wharf figures prominently in the early setting of Johnny Tremain, a Newbery Award-winning novel by Esther Forbes.

Union Wharf is an historic wharf at 295-353 Commercial Street in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts. The wharf began as a more modest wooden structure in the late 18th century, and was developed with a complex of granite buildings roughly between 1830 and 1850. It was one of the major centers of trade on the Port of Boston in the mid-19th century, and served as a passenger terminal later in the 19th century.The wharf and buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Atlantic Works is a historic building in East Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Located at 80 Border Street at its junction with Maverick Street, it was built in 1893 as the offices for Bethlehem Atlantic Works, a subsidiary of Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation, which was in business from 1853 until 1984 and produced steamship boilers and engines. It was the largest manufacturing company in East Boston for over a century.The company moved here from Chelsea and Marion Streets, a few blocks to the northeast. The building was renovated in 2010. As of 2021, it is the home of Atlantic Works Cultural Center and Atlantic Works Gallery, an artists' space.

Lewis Wharf is a showpiece of waterfront urban renewal in Boston's historic North End. The granite structures on the wharf were built as an early 19th-century shopping mall in the era before railroads when water transport was the most efficient way to move commodities to marketplaces.

United States Coast Guard Base Boston is located in the North End, Boston, Massachusetts. It is home to a number of cutters, including the USCGC Escanaba (WMEC-907), USCGC Spencer (WMEC-905), USCGC Marlin (WPB-87304), USCGC Pendant (WYTL-65608) and USCGC Seneca (WMEC-906), along with other small fleet units. The small boat station located on the base was re-opened in 2003 after being closed in 1996. It is also home to Flotilla 5-3 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. On 1 March 2021, the United States Department of Homeland Security solicited bids for base modifications to accommodate six new fast response cutters there. The Coast Guard is expected to take delivery of the first two of these cutters, USCGC William Chadwick (WPC-1150) and USCGC Warren Deyampert (WPC-1151), in the second half of 2022.

Maverick is a rapid transit station in Boston, Massachusetts. It serves the MBTA's Blue Line and is located at Maverick Square in East Boston. It is the easternmost underground station on the Blue Line and a transfer point to various buses. A center island platform provides access to the surface in the middle of Maverick Square. In the station, a track map lined with light bulbs shows the position of the trains on the Blue Line between Bowdoin and Orient Heights. It was one of the last stations to be converted to 6-car train service as part of the MBTA's Blue Line Renovation Project.

St. Stephen's Church is a historic church in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts. It was built in 1802-04 as the New North Church or New North Meeting House, and was designed by the noted architect Charles Bulfinch. It is the only one of the five churches Bulfinch designed in Boston to remain extant. The church replaced one which had been built on the site in 1714 and enlarged in 1730. The Congregationalist church became Unitarian in 1813, and the church was sold to the Roman Catholic Diocese in 1862, and renamed St. Stephen's. It was restored and renovated in 1964-65 by Chester F. Wright, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

The first USS Princeton was a screw steam warship of the United States Navy. Commanded by Captain Robert F. Stockton, Princeton was launched on September 5, 1843. On February 28, 1844, during a Potomac River pleasure cruise for dignitaries, one gun exploded, killing Secretary of State Abel P. Upshur and Secretary of the Navy Thomas Walker Gilmer, and injuring others, including a United States Senator and Captain Stockton. The disaster on board the Princeton killed more top U.S. government officials in a single day than any other tragedy in American history. President John Tyler, who was aboard but below decks, was not injured. The ship's reputation in the Navy never recovered.

Maverick Square is a section of the neighborhood of East Boston in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It is East Boston's oldest commercial center. At the heart of the square is Maverick Station, which is part of the Blue Line of the MBTA. In 2010, a revitalization of Maverick Square began. The nearby Maverick public housing project – once a source of urban blight that gave the area the reputation as the most crime-ridden in the neighborhood – has been redeveloped by Trinity Financial and the East Boston Community Development Corporation. The razing of crime-ridden high-rises, reintroduction of the urban street grid removed in the 1940s, and construction of individual homes with privates access, combined with mixed-income home ownership, contribute to the area's revitalization.
