The Sturt Gorge Recreation Park is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the suburbs of Bellevue Heights, Craigburn Farm and Flagstaff Hill within the Adelaide metropolitan area about 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) south of the Adelaide central business district.The park was established in 1973. and protects an area recognised as an area of great geological significance. It channels the Sturt River down to the Adelaide Plains. The Sturt Tillite formation was the first area in the world to provide definite evidence of Cryogenian glaciation (the Snowball Earth). It is hypothesised that the landform was created from glacial material that dropped from ice floating in the ocean which covered the area 800 million years ago.Fires of any kind are prohibited in the park.It is classified as an IUCN Category III protected area. In 1980, the recreation park was listed on the former Register of the National Estate.

The Australian Science and Mathematics School (ASMS) is a coeducational public senior high school for Years 10 - 12 located on the Sturt campus of Flinders University in Bedford Park, a southern suburb of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. As the school is unzoned, it attracts students from all across the Adelaide metropolitan area as well as some regional and interstate locations, in addition to international students. The goal of the school is to prepare its students for university, particularly in the fields of mathematics and science. The ASMS is unconventional in its approach to education, emphasising a love of learning in both students and teaching staff; students are given the freedom to take control of their own education. ASMS aims to make students aware of their own learning and for them to become self-directed in the way they complete academic tasks.

Eden Hills railway station is located on the Belair line. Situated in the Adelaide southern foothills suburb of Eden Hills, it is 14.2 kilometres from Adelaide station.

Shepherds Hill Recreation Park is a protected area located about 9 kilometres (5.6 miles) south of the Adelaide city centre in the local government area known as the City of Mitcham. The recreation park was proclaimed under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972 in 1972 for a parcel of land formerly known as St Marys Reserve and which was acquired by the Government of South Australia in 1953 as "public open-space for recreation purposes" and "managed by the South Australian Government Tourist Bureau as a dedicated National Pleasure Resort from 1955 until 1972". The recreation park is classified as an IUCN Category III protected area.

Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) is a major public tertiary hospital and teaching school, co-located with Flinders University and the 130 bed Flinders Private Hospital located at Bedford Park, South Australia. It opened in 1976. It serves as the trauma centre for the southern suburbs, and parts of the Adelaide Hills. An around-the-clock emergency retrieval service brings patients to FMC by road or helicopter.FMC is part of the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) which includes the Noarlunga Hospital, Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia and a range of outreach and community-based services.

Flinders University Museum of Art (FUMA), sometimes referred to as Flinders Art Museum, is preserving and developing the Flinders University’s historical and contemporary art collections. The Art Museum was formally established in 1978 by resolution of the Council of Flinders University to house an expanding collection of art, which since the first year of undergraduate teaching at the University in 1966, was being actively acquired to complement courses in Fine Arts. First established in 1997 in Grote Street before relocating to the State Library of South Australia on North Terrace in 2003, the City Gallery made a substantial contribution to the cultural fabric of the State until its closure in June 2018. From 2019 a dedicated gallery, co-located with the Art Museum at the University’s Bedford Park campus, presents diverse and inclusive curatorial projects that provoke enquiry and support innovative collaborations between regional and global partners.

Bedford Park is a southern suburb of Adelaide in South Australia. The Hancock family established a homestead and farm at the foot of the Adelaide Hills in the mid 19th century. A family name from an earlier generation lent its name to the property of Bedford which was later changed to Bedford Park. In 1917, 400 acres (1.6 km2) of the property was purchased by the South Australian Government and a tuberculosis sanatorium was built. Initially housing World War I soldiers the sanatorium was expanded until, by 1924, it had 74 beds and was a self-supporting farm with pigs, chickens, orchards and grain production. The sanatorium was demolished and Flinders University built in its place in the 1960s. Burbank Post Office opened on 26 September 1961 and was renamed Bedford Park in 1966, before closing in 1980.Bedford Park is the home of Flinders University and the Flinders Medical Centre. The greater part of the suburb lies within the City of Mitcham, but the north west corner lies within the City of Marion where the Warriparinga wetlands and Living Kaurna Cultural Centre are located beside the Sturt River. The suburb is in the state electorate of Davenport. It is in the federal Division of Boothby.

Eden Hills is a south eastern suburb located in the foothills of Adelaide, South Australia. It is part of the local government area of the City of Mitcham.

There is also Flagstaff Hill (as a geographical feature), one near Burra (33°38′S 138°53′E) and Renmark (34°26′S 140°29′E) in South AustraliaFlagstaff Hill is a suburb in the City of Onkaparinga local government area. It is named after the hill by that name in the area, where Colonel William Light erected a flagstaff during his survey, which was then used as a trig point. Flagstaff Hill is a leafy suburb established around the Sturt Gorge Recreation Park, maintaining many parks and reserves throughout the suburb.

Flinders railway station is the terminus of the Flinders line in the southern Adelaide suburb of Bedford Park. It serves the adjacent Flinders Medical Centre precinct and Flinders University.

Blackwood is a south eastern suburb located in the foothills of Adelaide, South Australia. It is part of the local government area of the City of Mitcham.

The Division of Boothby is an Australian federal electoral division in South Australia. The division was one of the seven established when the former Division of South Australia was redistributed on 2 October 1903 and is named after William Boothby (1829–1903), the Returning Officer for the first federal election.At the 2016 federal election, the seat covered 130 km², extending from Clarence Gardens and Urrbrae in the north to Marino and part of Happy Valley in the south, including the suburbs of Belair, Blackwood, Brighton, Daw Park, Eden Hills, Marion, Mitcham, Seacliff, St Marys and Panorama.
