Amstelveen

Museum Jan (until January 2020 Museum Jan van der Togt) is a modern visual art museum in Amstelveen, near Amsterdam in the Netherlands. It was established by 1991 by Jan van der Togt, an industrialist who was also the founder of the company Tomado who was a collector of contemporary art. He wanted his collection to remain together and formed a foundation for this. Besides a permanent collection of paintings and sculptures, the museum has an important collection of modern glass art such as Libenský & Brychtová, Maria Lugosi and Bruno Pedrosa. They include masterpieces of avant-garde Czech glass artists such as Vaclav Cigler and Ales Vasicek. Besides exhibitions from the permanent collection there are exhibitions several times a year, featuring notable artists in the modern visual art field such as Eugène Brands, Karel Appel, Ans Wortel, Anton Heyboer and Hugo Claus.

Aan de Poel is a fine-dining restaurant in Amstelveen, Netherlands that was awarded one Michelin star for the period 2009–2012. Since 2013, it carries two Michelin stars.In 2013, GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 16 out of 20 points.Head chef of Aan de Poel is Stefan van Sprang. Before starting their own restaurant, Sprang and his sommelier Robbert Jan Veuger have worked together at restaurant Ron Blaauw.The restaurant joined the Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise in 2012.Aan de Poel is located on the shore of lake De Poel.

Bovenkerk is a village in the municipality of Amstelveen in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. Bovenkerk was part of the municipality of Nieuwer-Amstel until 1964, when it was absorbed in the newly-formed municipality of Amstelveen. It lies on the western side of Amstelveen and next to the Amsterdam Forest.

Molen De Dikkert is a defunct restaurant located in a windmill in Amstelveen, in the Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1983 and retained that rating until 1992.Restaurant De Dikkert went bankrupt in 1992. During the bankruptcy settlement, the restaurant, owned by Bob Goudsmit, was sold to Yen Ho Kai, who kept the restaurant running.Arjan van Dijk was head chef in the time of the Michelin stars.At present, the windmill houses restaurant De Jonge Dikkert, that is awarded a Bib Gourmand, since 1994.Restaurant Molen De Dikkert was housed in a former windmill. The windmill was originally built in 1672 in Zaandam, as a sawmill. In 1896, the mill was moved to Amstelveen and served there as a flour mill. In 1929, the windmill stopped its working life and slowly fell into disrepair. The mill got renovated in 1965 and was ready for action again in 1966.

The Cobra Museum of Modern Art (Dutch: Cobra Museum voor Moderne Kunst) is an art museum in Amstelveen in the Netherlands. The collection of the museum consists of key works by artists associated with three art movements, Vrij Beelden (1945), Cobra (1948–1951), and Creatie (1950–1955). In addition, the museum organizes temporary exhibitions by national and international avant-garde artists.

The Hermann Wesselink College is a secondary school in Amstelveen, The Netherlands . The school is named after Hermann Wesselink, a school principal who died at an early age, soon after retirement. The motto of the school is; "A school where everybody is equal but nobody is the same". In 2022 the school has 1866 students. The school offers vmbo, havo, vwo (atheneum and gymnasium), and in recent years bilingual education (IB Diploma in English at A2 level). According to the "onderwijsinspectie", the Dutch school inspection, the results are what could be expected from these students.

The International School of Amsterdam (founded in 1964) is a private international school located in the city of Amstelveen, over 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) away from the city centre of Amsterdam. It hosts students from over 60 countries from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade (ages 3–18). The official language and language of instruction of the school is English. Dutch, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin, and Spanish are offered as additional languages. Around 60 other languages are spoken within the school community. The academic program is based on the International Baccalaureate Programme. As of the 2020-2021 school year, annual tuition rates vary from €17,870 to €25,650. In addition, the school charges a capital fee of €2,800, a €275 application fee, and a PTA fee of €35 per student.

VRA Cricket Ground is a cricket ground in Amstelveen, the Netherlands, the home of VRA Amsterdam since 1939. It has a capacity of 7000 spectators and regularly plays host to the Netherlands home games in the World Cricket League, Intercontinental Cup and CB40.This ground was first used for international cricket when the Netherlands played New Zealand in 1978. It has hosted many One Day Internationals (ODIs) including a match in the 1999 Cricket World Cup, and the 2004 Videocon Cup between India, Pakistan and Australia. It was also used in the 1990 ICC Trophy, the first to be played outside England. VRA Cricket Ground has hosted some notable moments in Dutch cricket, including a three-run win for the Netherlands over an England XI that featured future England captains Alec Stewart and Nasser Hussain in 1989. In July 2006, the Netherlands played Sri Lanka in their first home ODI and the visitors scored 443/9 from their 50 overs, which then was the highest team total in ODI cricket.Located in Amsterdamse Bos, the main ground features a AAA standard turf wicket, while the second and third grounds have an artificial wicket and are used in the winter by Amsterdamsche Hockey & Bandy Club. The stadium hosted a One Day International (ODI) match during the 1999 Cricket World Cup, between South Africa and Kenya. It was hosted host Nepal's first ever ODI during their Netherlands tour in August 2018.England scored 498 runs against the Netherlands in June 2022, setting a new record for the highest-ever ODI team score.

Brink is a tram stop within the city of Amstelveen, Netherlands. The stop lies along tram line 25, which was dubbed the Amsteltram before it received its line number. It opened officially on 13 December 2020, unofficially 4 days earlier on 9 December.Brink was earlier a stop for metro line 51, a hybrid metro/sneltram (light rail) service that opened in 1990. Like a metro, the sneltram used high-level platforms. Metro line 51 service south of Amsterdam Zuid station was closed in 2019 to rebuild stations with lower platforms to accommodate the new low-floor trams for line 25.

Amstelveen Centrum was a metro station in Amstelveen on metro line 51, a hybrid metro/sneltram (light rail) route that used high-floor trams. The station served the Amstelveen Stadshart shopping mall. The station closed on 3 March 2019 and was subsequently demolished. After closure, the metro line south of Amsterdam Zuid station, also known as the Amstelveenlijn, was converted for low-floor trams. Today, there is no tram stop at the site. Since its opening in 9 December 2020, the trams of line 25 have been bypassing the site without stopping; however, line 5 trams continue to serve Stadshart. In order to increase reliability and reduce travel time on the rebuilt line, five line 51 stations, including Amstelveen Centrum, were demolished instead of being rebuilt as stops for low-floor trams. The former metro station site is 450 metres (1,480 ft) from the rebuilt Ouderkerkerlaan tram stop, and 350 metres (1,150 ft) from the Oranjebaan tram stop. The former metro station was also 250 metres (820 ft) from the Stadshart stop used by tram line 5 which also runs north to Amsterdam Zuid station.

Wagener Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands. It is currently used mostly for field hockey matches and hosted matches for the 1973 World Hockey Cup. The stadium holds 7,600 people. The complex has belonged to the Dutch Hockey Association ("Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond") since 1980. Its location is the Amsterdamse Bos in Amstelveen. It was built by the Amsterdam Hockey & Bandy Club to honour its president, Joop Wagener (1881–1945). The building was completed in 1938, one year before World War II came to Netherlands. During the 1970s it became clear that AHBC could no longer afford the stadium, which was eventually sold to the Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond.
