Goytre

Glenhafod Park Stadium is a football stadium situated in a small valley just outside the village of Goytre, which is a district of Port Talbot, Wales, UK. It is the home ground of Goytre United F.C. The name Glenhafod is taken from the local disused coal mines in the surrounding hillside and shares the valley with the Goytre United F.C. social club and a horseback riding school. In 1990 there was a 350-seater grandstand built, with floodlights being installed in 2000. The stadium holds 4,000 people and sits in-between the stadium's car park and the river Ffrwdwyllt.

Holy Cross Church, Port Talbot, also known locally as the "Chapel of Ease", is a Victorian church located centrally in the Taibach district of Port Talbot, Wales. Prior to the building of the M4 motorway flyover through the centre of the town in the 1960s, it was in the centre of a residential area, but it is now dominated by junction 40 of the motorway. The land was originally donated by C. R. M. Talbot, MP, the owner of the Margam Abbey estate, as a church for local people who could not get to the abbey itself to worship. The church was built in 1827 by the Shrewsbury architect Edward Haycock Sr., with William Bruce Knight as its first vicar, and fell within the parish of Margam, as a chapel of ease to Margam Abbey. It had a capacity of 500.After the building of St Theodore's Church, Port Talbot, Holy Cross became a subsidiary of the new parish of Taibach. In 1903 Holy Cross was upgraded, with G. E. Halliday as architect, to bring it up to the standard of a parish church, and a rood screen was added.The parents of the actor Anthony Hopkins were married at the church in 1936.

The Mynydd Emroch television relay station is sited on the eponymous hill to the east of Port Talbot. It was originally built in the 1970s as a fill-in relay for UHF analogue television. It consists of a 25 metres (82 ft) self-supporting lattice tower standing on a hillside which is itself 600 ft (183 metres) above sea level. The transmitters are beamed southwards to cater for those digital terrestrial TV subscribers in Port Talbot and Margam which for reasons of geography can't get a signal from the Kilvey Hill transmitter across the bay at Swansea. The Mynydd Emroch transmission station is owned and operated by Arqiva. In the current age of digital television, Mynydd Emroch transmitter re-radiates the signal received off-air from Kilvey Hill about 10 miles (15 km) to the west. However, when it was originally built, the station was considered a relay of Carmel about 25 miles (40 km) to the northwest. When it came, the digital switchover process for Mynydd Emroch duplicated the timing at Kilvey Hill (Mynydd Emroch's new parent station) with the first stage taking place on Wednesday 12 August 2009 and the second stage was completed on Wednesday 9 September 2009, with the Kilvey Hill transmitter-group becoming the first in Wales to complete digital switchover. After the switchover process, analogue channels had ceased broadcasting permanently and the Freeview digital TV services were radiated at an ERP of 18 W each.

Taibach or Tai-bach (English: Little Houses) is a community and suburban district of Port Talbot, Wales. It is a settlement centered on the main A48 road, sandwiched between the river Ffrwdwyllt and Margam. Parts of Margam are within the community boundaries.

The war memorial at Port Talbot, Wales, commemorates local men killed in the First World War and Second World War. It is located in the Talbot Memorial Park, where it was erected in 1925; the names from the Second World War were added later. It was sculpted by Louis Frederick Roslyn, and was unveiled on 4 July 1925 by Sir William R. Robertson. The park in which it stands was donated to the town by Miss Emily Charlotte Talbot of Margam Castle, and opened to the public in 1926. The memorial has been Grade II* listed since the year 2000.

Margam is a suburb and community of Port Talbot in the Welsh county borough of Neath Port Talbot, Wales, close to junction 39 of the M4 motorway. The community had a population of 3,017 in 2011; the built up area being larger and extending into Taibach community.

The Church of St Theodore is a parish church of the Church in Wales in Port Talbot, Wales. Located on the A48 opposite Maes-y-Cwrt Terrace and bordered on two sides by the Talbot Memorial Park, it is administered within the diocese of Llandaff.The church was designed by John Loughborough Pearson, and it is the largest of his churches in Wales. It was built with financial assistance from Miss Emily Charlotte Talbot, a local philanthropist who lived at nearby Margam Castle, in memory of her late brother Theodore Mansel Talbot (1839–1876), whose premature death resulted in her inheriting the family fortune. The family was heavily influenced by the Oxford Movement within the Church of England. It replaced the smaller Holy Cross Church (also known locally as "Chapel of Ease").The church is built primarily in the Early English style, and dressed mainly in Bath stone. The pulpit is of Portland stone. An item of interest is a memorial to Lt Rupert Price Hallowes, a Victoria Cross-winning resident of Port Talbot (killed in action in 1915).The organ was installed in the church prior to its consecration in August 1897, and was made by Charles Martin of Oxford; it was both his largest and his last work. It cost over £800 and was paid for by public subscription. The organ was completely restored in 2000, when the church itself underwent substantial refurbishment.The restoration project included the removal and replacement of all stained glass within the church, which include four works from the studio of Clayton and Bell; the windows proved impossible to clean as they were badly affected by pollution from local heavy industry. The stonework was also cleaned, and a new lighting system was installed. The original iron railings outside the church were repaired. The Sanctus Bell, which had previously been removed because of the dangerous condition of the bellcote, was re-hung following repairs.

Beulah Calvinistic Methodist Chapel, also known locally as "The Round Chapel" and in Welsh as "Capel y Groes", is a Grade II*-listed building in Margam, Port Talbot, Wales. It originally built in the mid-nineteenth century and had to be dismantled and moved in 1974 to make way for the new M4 motorway.

Nant Ffrwdwyllt (sometimes known as Nant Cwm Farteg) is a stream that runs through Cwm Dyffryn, within the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, Wales, from the village of Bryn, through the village of Goytre and the district of Taibach in Port Talbot, to the sea. The stream was originally a tributary of the River Afan but was diverted in the 18th century into the ironworks at what was to become Port Talbot to provide a source of water. It now flows into Port Talbot Docks. Several streets are or have been named after it, notably the present-day Ffrwdwyllt Street in Taibach, where the stream runs close to St Theodore's Church and the Talbot Memorial Park. The name of the stream is translated into English as "wild brook"; this is thought to be because of the way the stream suddenly grows after heavy rain. This effect is attributed to the fact that the stream is approximately 9 kilometres long and passes down steep hills which quickly channel the rain that comes from the Atlantic.According to Cadw, a mill that once stood on the Ffrwdwyllt at Goytre was associated with the Grange of Hafod-y-porth, which belonged to the Cistercian monastery of Margam Abbey. Former coal levels in the valley have left industrial remains along the banks of the stream.

The Talbot Athletic Ground is a sports stadium located in central Port Talbot, Wales, with a maximum capacity of 8,000. The ground is home to Welsh rugby union team Aberavon RFC, and the Wales women's national team.

Margam Moors (Welsh: Morfa Margam) is a community of Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales. Together with the community of Margam, it forms the Margam electoral ward. There were three inhabitants in Margam Moors at the 2001 census, and most of the area is open moorland with the central and northern areas occupied by Port Talbot Steelworks and Port Talbot Docks. The south west of the community is Margam Sands beach.

Trefelin Boys & Girls Club, often shortened to Trefelin BGC, is an association football club who play their home games at Ynys park in Port Talbot, Neath Port Talbot, Wales. Their men's team play in the Cymru South. Trefelin BGC was founded in 1984. Initially they played their matches in the local park (the plough) however they later moved to their current home of Ynys Park near Port Talbot following local fundraising efforts. In 2000, Trefelin BGC won the FAW Trophy by winning in the final 6–2 against Bryntirion Athletic F.C. In 2007 they were promoted as champions of the South Wales Amateur League Second Division and following their first season in the First Division, Trefelin BGC finished the season as runners-up to eventual champions and former Welsh League team AFC Porth. In 2014, Trefelin BGC won promotion from the South Wales Amateur League First Division with at least a fourteen-game unbeaten run. In the same year, they won the W John Owen Cup by defeating AFC Bargoed. In the 2015–16 season, Trefelin won promotion to the Welsh Football League after winning the newly formed South Wales Alliance League. On 2 January 2019 the club announced the signing of former Swansea City striker Lee Trundle.The club were champions of the Welsh Football League Division One at the end of the 2019–20 season, remaining unbeaten in the league during a season curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. They were promoted to the second tier of the Welsh football pyramid in June 2020, joining the Cymru South for the 2020–21 season.
