Hereworth School is an independent school in New Zealand which caters for boarding and day pupils. It was established in 1927 by the amalgamation of Heretaunga School Hastings (New Zealand) and Hurworth School (Wanganui). Until 2023 the school only admitted male pupils; the school now also admits female day pupils. The school is founded on five main "cornerstones", which are Academic, Cultural, Christian Dimension, Boarding Life and Sport. The school has its own chapel and chapel choir in which the whole school attends services four times a week.

Iona College is a state-integrated girls' school in the Hawke's Bay area of New Zealand's North Island. Founded in 1914 by the Presbyterian Church, it was intended to provide boarding facilities for girls from rural communities. Today, the college has a capped roll of 330 New Zealand and international students – 170 boarders and 160 day girls. Iona is consistently ranked amongst the top schools in New Zealand for academic results. A large performing arts centre and information centre started being built in March 2013 and were finished halfway through 2014. During the 100 years celebration that took place in March 2014 tours were conducted of the partially finished buildings.

Havelock North (Māori: Karanema) is a town in the Hawke's Bay region of the North Island of New Zealand, situated less than 2 km south-east of the city of Hastings. It was a borough for many years until the 1989 reorganisation of local government saw it merged into the new Hastings District, and it is now administered by the Hastings District Council.

Havelock North High School is a state co-education secondary school located in Havelock North, New Zealand. HNHS has a head boy and head girl chosen by the Form 7 (Year 13) students at the start of the year as well as the secretary. HNHS is split into four houses which compete against each other during the year in events such as a swimming sports, an athletics event and house choir. Havelock North High School 1XI Girls Cricket Team were the national secondary school girls cricket team title holder in 2008. HNHS also hosted the national orienteering secondary school girls champions in 2008.

Havelock North Intermediate is a middle school located in Havelock North, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. The school was redeveloped in the mid-2000s, with a new administration block, media suite and performing arts centre.

Te Mata Peak is a peak south of Hastings rising up to 399m in the Te Mata Hills in the Hawke's Bay region of New Zealand. A sealed road leads to the popular lookout at the summit, as well as many trails for hikers and mountain bikers. The Hastings suburb of Havelock North is situated at the base of the peak. Te Mata peak and the surrounding range runs in a North-East to South-West direction. The slopes on the North-Western side build up gradually. Havelock North is built upon the rolling hills at the lower extent of the ranges. The topography of the South-Eastern side has been heavily influenced by the Tukituki River, forming the Tukituki Valley. From Te Mata Peak, cliffs on the South-Eastern side drop 140 meters before extending into the rolling hills of the Tukituki Valley, making these cliffs some of the highest in the North Island of New Zealand. Their height is subject to erosion, with multiple instances of rockfall into the valley below. From the peak, large boulders can be witnessed in the valley as evidence of previous rockfall. As the highest peak in the area, it offers views over the Heretaunga Plains, and Hawke's Bay, including Napier. On a clear day, the view stretches as far as Mount Ruapehu and Māhia Peninsula. Beneath Te Mata Peak rests the Craggy Range vineyard and the Tukituki River.The name originates from the name of the hillscape in Māori, Te Mata-o-Rongokako, or "the face of Rongokako". Rongokako was an ancestor of the Ngāti Kahungunu and the area is believed to be his final resting place. When looking at the peak from the north, it appears to be the silhouette of a person lying down, which is said to be Rongokako. European settlers called the peak the "Sleeping Giant", a name which is still in use today.The government bought the land from the local iwi in 1850, and it was subsequently purchased by John Chambers in the 1850s for use as a farming station. The land was gifted to the public as a park in perpetuity in 1927 by his descendants.In October 2019 the Hastings District Council began work on filling in 1.3 km of a controversial walking track. The track had been cut by Craggy Range Winery in 2017, the local council having granted consent without informing the local iwi.

Karamu High School is a co-educational state high school in Hastings, New Zealand for students in Years 9 to 13. The school is the main co-ed secondary school within Hastings City itself. The school’s campus is located to the easternmost end of Hastings City, adjacent to Windsor Park to the west and the Heretaunga Plains’ orchards to the east.

Parkvale is a suburb of Hastings City, in the Hawke's Bay Region of New Zealand's North Island. Children in the settlement began being educated in hop-drying kiln building in 1919. It remained a separate settlement from Hastings until the second half of the 20th century.Splash Planet is a water park in the suburb.

Splash Planet is an amusement park and water park located in the city of Hastings, New Zealand. The park was opened in its current form in 1998.

Karamu is a rural community in the Hastings District and Hawke's Bay Region of New Zealand's North Island. The area is on the eastern outskirts of Hastings city. Karamu Estate covered the area in the 1870s. A dispute over the title was made moot by the challenging solicitor purchasing a large share in the estate. Part of the estate was sold in several farming allotments and residential sites in 1891. Further subdivisions occurred in 1919, and 1924. The remainder was subdivided in 1929.

Waipatu is a semi-rural suburb of Hastings, in the Hastings District and Hawke's Bay Region of New Zealand's North Island.

St. John's College is a State Integrated, Catholic, Day School for boys, located in Hastings, a provincial city in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Founded in 1941 by the Marist Fathers, St. John's College has a non-selective enrolment policy (although it does give preference to students from Catholic families) and currently caters for approximately 450 students from Year 9 (3rd Form) to Year 13 (7th Form). In 2006 its ethnic composition was Pākehā 73%, Māori 23%, and Pacific 4% . Academically, the school offers senior years the National Certificate of Educational Achievement assessment system (NCEA). St. John's College is the oldest private/state integrated secondary for boys in New Zealand outside the traditional main centres of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin (Te Aute College, also in Hawke's Bay was previously the title holder but became coed during the 1990s).
