The Peach Mountain Observatory (PMO) is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the University of Michigan (UM). It is located near the village of Dexter, Michigan (USA), about 20 kilometers (12 mi) northwest of Ann Arbor. It was opened in 1955, and is used for research, instruction, and amateur observing. Other observatories that UM has operated include the Detroit Observatory (Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1854), the Angell Hall Observatory (Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1927), the Lamont–Hussey Observatory (South Africa, 1928), the McMath–Hulbert Observatory (Lake Angelus, Michigan, 1930), and the Portage Lake Observatory (Dexter, Michigan, 1948).

The Portage Lake Observatory (PLO) was an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the University of Michigan (UM). It was located near the village of Dexter, Michigan (USA), about 20 kilometers (12 mi) northwest of Ann Arbor. Construction at the site began in 1948, and the facility was closed in 1975.Other observatories that UM has operated include the Detroit Observatory (Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1854), the Angell Hall Observatory (Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1927), the Lamont–Hussey Observatory (South Africa, 1928), the McMath–Hulbert Observatory (Lake Angelus, Michigan, 1930), and the Peach Mountain Observatory (Dexter, Michigan, 1955).

Pinckney State Recreation Area is a Michigan state recreation area in Dexter, Sylvan and Lyndon Townships, Washtenaw County and Putnam and Unadilla Townships, Livingston County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The park is 11,000 acres (4,500 ha) and sits at an elevation of 922 feet (281 m). The park is connected to the nearby Waterloo State Recreation Area by the 35-mile (56 km) Waterloo–Pinckney Trail. Pinckney State Recreation Area is open for year-round recreation including hiking, fishing, swimming, hunting and a variety of winter sports.

The Bell Road Bridge is a Pratt through truss bridge in Dexter Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan. Built in 1891, the bridge carried Bell Road over the Huron River. From 1997 to 2018, the bridge sat on the riverbank, overgrown with brush. The bridge is a Michigan State Historic Site and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hudson Mills Metropark is a park in the Huron-Clinton system of metro parks in Michigan, USA. It is located on North Territorial Road at the crossing of the Huron River, twelve miles (19 km) northwest of Ann Arbor. The park covers 1,549 acres (627 ha) and has an 18-hole golf course, disc golf courses, picnic areas, swings and slides, softball diamonds, a hike-bike trail, nature trails, river fishing, a canoe camp and a group camp. The park is a popular destination for canoeing and kayaking; parking areas near the Huron River provide access for canoe launching. The park will eventually be linked to Dexter-Huron Metropark and Delhi Metropark via the Border-to-Border Trail. Canoe rentals are available at Delhi Metropark.

Hell is an unincorporated community in Livingston County, Michigan. The population was 72 as of 2022. The community is located along Patterson Lake Road about 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Ann Arbor and three miles (4.8 km) southwest of Pinckney. Hell, Michigan is served by the Pinckney post office with the 48169 ZIP Code.

Pinckney High School, or Pinckney Community High School (PCHS) is a high school located in Putnam Township, Michigan. The current high school building is at 10255 Dexter-Pinckney Road in Putnam Township.

Pinckney is a village in Putnam Township, Livingston County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,415 at the 2020 census. Among the first American pioneers in the area around Pinckney were William Kirkland and his family, who moved from New York in the late 1820s. Kirkland named the community after his brother, Charles Pinckney Kirkland. Platted in 1837, Pinckney was incorporated as a village in 1883.

Putnam Township is a civil township of Livingston County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 8,248 at the 2010 census, up from 7,500 at the 2000 census. The village of Pinckney is located within the township.

Gordon Hall, also known as the Judge Samuel W. Dexter House, is a private house located at 8341 Island Lake Road in Dexter, Michigan. It was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1958 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The house is unique in Michigan for its balance, large scale, and massive hexastyle portico. The structure is also significant as the dwelling of Judge Samuel W. Dexter, a pioneering Michigan resident and land baron who had a substantial impact on early development of Washtenaw County and other sections of the state. The house was later owned by Dexter's granddaughter Katharine Dexter McCormick, a pioneering research scientist, suffragist, and philanthropist. In its early days, Gordon Hall hosted at least two, and possibly three United States presidents, and it was almost certainly a stop along the Underground Railroad.

Cackleberry Airport (FAA LID: 2E8) is a privately owned, public use airport located five nautical miles (6 mi, 9 km) north of the central business district of Dexter, a village in Washtenaw County, Michigan, United States.

Lakelands Trail State Park, officially the Mike Levine Lakelands Trail State Park since January 20, 2017, is a state park in Michigan that runs east–west from southwest of Munith to Hamburg Township, Michigan. It is a multi-use trail converted from abandoned railroad corridors. According to the Michigan DNR web site, the north side of the trail is for hiking and biking, and the south side is for horseback riding. Based on the latest published DNR map the trail is 31.9 miles (51.3 km) long with the surface from Hawkins Rd. southwest of Munith to west of Pinckney composed of sections of crushed limestone, slag and sand, or unimproved. 10 miles (16 km) are paved in Hamburg Township from the first intersection with M-36 west of Pinckney to end of the park east of the Hamburg Rd. trailhead. A paved section of trail also extends from the edge of the park east of Hamburg Rd. to the west side of Whitmore Lake Rd., just south of its intersection with 9 Mile Rd in Green Oak Township. From Stockbridge to Pinckney, horses are routinely ridden on the unpaved trail surface. Only the paved portion from just west of Pinckney to the east end in Hamburg Township is consistently usable by bicyclists.
