Alderton Tunnel

Alderton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Luckington, in Wiltshire, England, 6 miles (9.7 km) southwest of Malmesbury. In 1931 the parish had a population of 107. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished and merged with Luckington.The South Wales Main Line, the main railway from Swindon to Bristol and South Wales, runs close to the south of the village where it passes through the Alderton Tunnel.

The parish includes the hamlets of Foscote, Leigh Delamere, Littleton Drew and Sevington, and part of the hamlet of The Gibb.The Gauze Brook, a small tributary of the Avon, rises near Littleton Drew and flows east across the parish. The M4 motorway was opened in 1971 across the south of the parish, passing close to The Gibb, Foscote, Sevington and Leigh Delamere.

Sherston is a village and civil parish about 5 miles (8 km) west of Malmesbury in Wiltshire, England. The parish is bounded to the north by the county boundary with Gloucestershire, and to the southeast by the Fosse Way, a Roman road. The parish includes the hamlets of Easton Town, immediately east of Sherston; Pinkney, further east along the Malmesbury road; and Willesley, to the north. The infant River Avon passes Sherston, Easton Town and Pinkney, on its way to Malmesbury. The parish lies within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It has Norman origins and contains many interesting religious items, including remains of Norman wall decoration, and a crucifix donated to the church by Italian soldiers during World War II.

Lugbury Long Barrow is a prehistoric long barrow in Wiltshire, England, about 0.6 miles (1 km) east of Nettleton and about 1 mile (1.6 km) north-west of Castle Combe. The site, excavated in the 19th century, is a scheduled monument.

Castle Combe Castle stood to the north of the village of Castle Combe, Wiltshire, England. The castle was a medieval motte and bailey castle standing on a limestone spur overlooking the Bybrook River. It was probably built by Reginald de Dunstanville, 1st Earl of Cornwall in the 12th century and was unusual in that it had a keep with at least four and possibly five baileys. Earthworks and some stonework remain. Since 1981 the site has been a scheduled ancient monument and is described in the National Heritage List for England as "Motte and bailey castle 600 meters north of Castle Combe".

Sopworth is a small village and civil parish in northwest Wiltshire, England, on the county's border with Gloucestershire. The village lies about 1.7 miles (2.7 km) west of Sherston and 6.5 miles (10 km) west of Malmesbury. The parish is within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Fosse Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse in the English Cotswolds near the Fosse Way and Castle Combe. It is now used to provide hospitality and accommodation, including bed and breakfast rooms in the main farmhouse and self-contained, self-catering quarters in converted farm buildings — the former barn, dairy and stables. It is especially popular with Japanese since a couple visited in 1989. The proprietor, Caron Cooper, visited Japan where she hosted afternoon tea with scones at the British embassy. The guests included Prince Mikasa and his family, who subsequently came to stay at the farmhouse for three days. In 2012, it was used as a location for the popular Japanese comic and TV animation, Kin-iro Mosaic, and fans of that series now come to stay at the farmhouse too.
