Prospect Park is a historic neighborhood within the University community of the U.S. city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The area is bounded by the Mississippi River to the south, the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota to the east, the Burlington Northern railroad yard to the north, and the Stadium Village commercial district of the University of Minnesota to the west. The neighborhood is composed of several districts which include the East River Road area. The 1913 Prospect Park Water Tower is a landmark and neighborhood icon. An urban village once served by streetcar, Prospect Park is now a combination of multiple districts and uses. People live in single-family homes on Tower Hill, as well as apartment housing in the western districts. Estate homes of the early to mid 20th century line East River Road. The SouthEast Industrial Area (SEMI) in the north contains light manufacturing, rail yards and remnant grain silos. University Avenue houses a mix of retail and restaurant businesses from the Stadium Village area. The entire 138-acre (56 ha) core of the neighborhood was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015 as the Prospect Park Residential Historic District for its significance in the theme of social history. It was nominated for its cohesive community spirit, developed—despite the neighborhood's hilly terrain and diverse housing stock—through such innovations as Minneapolis's first community association.

Prospect Park (formerly named 29th Avenue) is a light rail station on the Green Line in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is located on 29th Avenue just south of the University of Minnesota Transitway between 4th Street Southeast and University Avenue. It is located in the Prospect Park neighborhood of Minneapolis. Construction of the rail line along the transitway began in 2011, and station construction beginning in 2012. The station opened along with the rest of the line in 2014. Ridership at the station increased significantly after much of the surrounding land use was transformed from industrial to housing.

Tower Hill Park marks the northern boundary of Prospect Park, a hilly residential neighborhood in southeast Minneapolis. The 4.7-acre city park is bounded on the northeast by University Avenue, the east by Clarence Avenue, the south by Seymour Avenue, the southwest by Orlin Avenue, and the northwest by Malcolm Avenue. With the exception of University Avenue, quiet, residential streets surround Tower Hill Park. Standing at nearly 1,000 feet above sea level, the Prospect Park Water Tower has the distinction of occupying one of the highest spots in the Twin Cities. With its thick concrete shaft, open-air belvedere, and steeply pitched, green-tile roof, the water tower looms over a small pump house on the northwest edge of the park, a set of tennis courts on the southwest side of the park, and the curvilinear streets of the adjacent neighborhood. Much of the upper portion of Tower Hill Park is heavily wooded, gradually giving way to a grass lawn as the elevation lowers.

The Prospect Park Water Tower, sometimes referred to as the Witch's Hat Water Tower, is a historic water tower in the Prospect Park neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1913 on Tower Hill Park, a hilltop park established in 1906. The water tower has become the neighborhood's architectural mascot for its singular design by Frederick William Cappelen. The tower is rumored to be the inspiration for Bob Dylan's song "All Along the Watchtower," as the tower was clearly visible from Dylan's home in nearby Dinkytown.The park and water tower were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 for having local significance in the themes of architecture, community planning and development, and engineering. It was nominated for its associations with city planning, urban infrastructure, architectural eclecticism, and the work of architect Frederick William Cappelen. In 2015 they were also listed as contributing properties to the Prospect Park Residential Historic District.

University Avenue is a street that runs through both Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota. It begins near the Minnesota State Capitol in Saint Paul and extends westward into neighboring Minneapolis, where it passes the University of Minnesota, and then turns north to pass through several suburbs before its main portion ends in Blaine, Minnesota, although there are stretches of road designated as University Avenue that are north of the Blaine terminus, the final stretch ending near Andree, Minnesota. For many years, the road carried U.S. Highway 12 and U.S. Highway 52 (at least for part of its length), and University Avenue is still a significant thoroughfare in the area. University Avenue originally ran along a line several blocks north of its current location, forming a route that once connected the Minneapolis campus of the University of Minnesota to Hamline University in Saint Paul (hence the name). When the construction of the Minnesota Transfer Railway yards blocked that route, the street was moved one-half mile to the south on the Saint Paul side, to what was then called Melrose Avenue. The old University Avenue route was renamed Minnehaha Avenue, which it remains to this day.Some important neighborhoods the road passes through include Frogtown (officially, the Thomas-Dale neighborhood) and the Midway region, both in Saint Paul. Hubbard Broadcasting and its flagship stations, KSTP-AM-FM-TV, are on University at the border of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. In fact, the sidewalk at the KSTP studios is right on the city/county line. This was one of the highest points in the area, an appropriate site for a radio transmitter. An antenna structure still stands there today, though it is used for microwave links rather than broadcasting (KSTP and most other Twin Cities stations use the Telefarm installation in Shoreview, Minnesota, or the nearby KMSP Tower). A water tower commonly known as the Witch's Hat stands just a few blocks away in Minneapolis's Prospect Park neighborhood. In 1890, the first interurban streetcar link between Minneapolis and Saint Paul used University Avenue and Washington Avenue in Minneapolis. History is now being repeated, as the METRO Green Line light rail connects the two downtowns as well as the University of Minnesota along a similar route. University Avenue carries Ramsey County Road 34 in Saint Paul, and Hennepin County Road 36 in Minneapolis to the junction with I-35W. West and north of Central Avenue, University Avenue carries Minnesota State Highway 47 to the junction with US 10, after which it carries Anoka County Road 51.

Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. is an American television and radio broadcasting corporation based in St. Paul, Minnesota. It was founded by Stanley E. Hubbard. The corporation has broadcast outlets scattered across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, New York, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Washington, Florida, and Washington, D.C. KSTP radio, KSTP-FM and KSTP-TV, which serve the Twin Cities region of Minnesota and western Wisconsin, are regarded as the company's legacy flagship stations.

The Minnesota Geological Survey is a unit of the Newton Horace Winchell School of Earth Sciences at the University of Minnesota. The Minnesota Geological Survey (MGS) serves the people of Minnesota by providing systematic geoscience information to support the understanding and stewardship of water, land, and mineral resources in the state of Minnesota. The MGS works closely with University, government, industry, and community partners to ensure they respond to the diverse needs of Minnesotans. They do this by creating and disseminating geologic maps, publishing scientific and popular literature, fielding public geologic inquiries, and conducting public outreach.

Westgate is a light rail station along the METRO Green Line in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It is located along University Avenue on either side of the intersection with Berry Street. The station has split side platforms, with the westbound platform on the north side of the tracks west of Berry Street, while the eastbound platform is on the south side of the tracks on the east side of the intersection. The westbound platform slightly extends into neighboring Minneapolis. Construction in this area began in March 2011. The station opened along with the rest of the line in 2014. Rather than being named after the intersecting street as with most of the stations along University Avenue, it is named after the area. The name "Westgate" comes from the area being the western gateway into Saint Paul. Before the construction of I-94 and Highway 280 it was known as the "West End Manufacturing District." The Westgate Business Center is located immediately north of the station.North of the station on Berry Street is an informal transit center, where Routes 30 and 63 begin and end their trips. The METRO E Line is planned to terminate at the station.On August 31, 2014, around 10:15 AM Shana G. Buchanan, 42, was hit and killed at the Westgate station by the Metro Green Line train as she crossed the tracks in front of the train.

The U of M Transitway is a busway that runs between the University of Minnesota's Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses. Use of the roadway is limited to buses, bicycles, and emergency vehicles. The University of Minnesota runs zero-fare buses along the busway connecting the two campuses, primarily the Campus Connector but also shuttles to and from the St. Paul campus for football games. A bicycle trail runs alongside the transitway for most of its distance. Between the endpoints, there are only two intersections with stoplights controlling busway traffic at Energy Park Drive and Como Avenue. The stoplights are designed to normally give the buses priority, so it is possible for many buses to run the length of the transitway without stopping.

WaHu Student Apartments (also known simply as WaHu or Wahu) is a luxury residential apartment building located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was first announced in 2012 with intent to cater to the campus population of the nearby University of Minnesota. The complex comprises 327 residential units within three apartment towers. It also contains designated retail space, currently leased by tenants such as Bank of America, Blaze Pizza, and local restaurants. Its name is a combination of the two roads at its adjacent intersection, Huron Boulevard Southeast and Washington Avenue Southeast. WaHu Student Apartments is located in the Stadium Village neighborhood of Minneapolis, built atop the site of a former blood plasma clinic that contributed to several construction delays for the complex. Neighboring structures to the apartment complex include TCF Bank Stadium and the Stadium Village light rail station. Construction of WaHu Student Apartments was completed in August 2015, in time for the start of the academic year.

The Hub (also referred to as Hub Minneapolis and Hub on Campus) is a luxury residential apartment building located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The project was first announced under the working name 311 Harvard, before being renamed as the Hub during construction. The building was designed by Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture and includes 407 residential units designated for the campus population of the nearby University of Minnesota. It also contains leasable retail space, with current tenants including Caribou Coffee, Chase Bank, Wells Fargo, and Roti Modern Mediterranean.

Stadium Village is an area of Minneapolis, Minnesota near the East Bank campus of the University of Minnesota. While not an official neighborhood of Minneapolis, the area is an important commercial district that serves university students with many bars and restaurants. There are plans to incorporate it into an official neighborhood of Minneapolis along with the surrounding area. It is part of Southeast Minneapolis, that part of Minneapolis on the East Bank of the Mississippi River and south of Hennepin Avenue The neighborhood is centered roughly around the intersection of Oak Street SE and Washington Avenue SE in Minneapolis. Further west on University Avenue is the Dinkytown neighborhood. The name of the area is a reference to the old Memorial Stadium, which was no longer used after the 1981 football season, since the University of Minnesota football team began playing in Metrodome, in downtown Minneapolis. Memorial Stadium was demolished in 1992. The area was built around the stadium and kept its name even after the stadium was replaced by the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center and McNamara Alumni Center. The other University of Minnesota sports arenas are also nearby. In 2009, TCF Bank Stadium opened, near the site of the old Memorial Stadium. The University of Minnesota placed billboards promoting the new stadium with a slogan of "Stadium Village – Now with stadium".
