The Pleasant Ridge Historic District is a primarily residential historic district located in Pleasant Ridge, Michigan. The original portion of the district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992, and encompassed an area west of Woodward Avenue to Ridge Road, and running from Millington Road to the city limits of Ferndale. The boundaries of the district were increased in 2010, to include the area west of Ridge Road to the city limits of Royal Oak, Huntington Woods, Oak Park, and Ferndale.

Hedge's Wigwam was a Native American-themed restaurant in Pleasant Ridge, Michigan, operating from 1927 until 1967. It was located at 24362 Woodward Avenue, one block from the original Saginaw Trail.

An inner-ring suburb of Detroit on the Woodward Corridor, Ferndale borders Detroit to the north, roughly 10 miles (16.1 km) northwest of downtown Detroit. The Horace Rackham Memorial Fountain (1939), also known as the Bear Fountain, is a fountain located in the Detroit Zoo, Royal Oak, Michigan. It was designed by Frederick A. Schnaple (1872–1948) and sculpted by Corrado Parducci.

The Detroit Zoo is a zoo located in the cities of Huntington Woods and Royal Oak in the U.S. state of Michigan. Spanning 125 acres (50.6 ha), it houses more than 2,000 animals and more than 200 different species. It was the first U.S. zoo to feature bar-less habitats, and is regarded to be an international leader in animal welfare, conservation and sustainability by the Detroit Zoological Society.

WFCB-LP (100.7 FM) is a community radio station in Ferndale, Michigan, owned by Ferndale Radio, Incorporated, formerly known as Underwood V Radio, Incorporated (pronounced "Underwood Five Radio"), having launched in 2016. Ferndale Radio was created by five friends who have a strong passion for music and missed the freedom and creative expression of college radio. The studio and tower is located in the heart of Ferndale at the Rust Belt Market. The station covers the immediate Ferndale and Royal Oak areas, as well as portions of Detroit's North End. The station is a non profit 501c 3 run completely by volunteers and supported by donations and local underwriters. The station's application was confirmed as acceptable by Industry Canada for coordination purposes under NARBA, on July 25, 2014, and its construction permit was granted on August 7, 2014. Due to its proximity and frequency, the station is subject to interference from nearby CKUE-FM-1 in Windsor, Ontario, which broadcasts at a substantially higher power (3.84 kW) from a tower very close to the Canada–United States border. In 2020 and 2021, the station started raising funds for online streaming. Ferndale Project, a local brewery in Ferndale, brewed a Ferndale Radio beer and part of the proceeds were donated to their streaming efforts. Ferndale Radio is on track to start streaming at the start of 2022.

Royal Oak is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. An inner-ring suburb of Detroit, Royal Oak is located roughly 14 miles (22.5 km) north of downtown Detroit. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 58,211.Royal Oak is located along the Woodward Corridor, and is served by Interstate 75 and Interstate 696. The city has one of the largest downtowns in Detroit's suburbs, and is also home to much of the Detroit Zoo, with portions extending into neighboring Huntington Woods.

Arts, Beats & Eats is a U.S. Labor Day Weekend festival held in Royal Oak, Michigan. Prior to 2010 it was held in downtown Pontiac, Michigan streets in storefront businesses and at the Phoenix Plaza Amphitheatre. The festival is sponsored by local businesses, including Ford, the naming sponsor. Proceeds from Arts, Beats & Eats benefit local charities; an estimated 1.7 million was donated in the first seven years. A juried arts exhibition, food court, concert stages with local and national acts and a charity preview gala highlight festival programming. In 2005, families were treated to special fun in the Family Village, including the following play zones: Wild Kingdom Adventure Tour 75th Birthday Exhibit Kids Talent Quest Kids Corner Stage Tire Toss Charity Game Arts & Crafts AreaProgramming begins Friday afternoon and ends Monday evening. 2020 saw a virtual festival. 2021 saw the return of Arts, Beats, and Eats sponsored by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort.
